It only takes a few lines and voila, a character. You make it look so easy 😮 a different tilt of the head and you’ve captured the essence. Loved the one with the glasses on top
thank you! The timelapse really helps make it look easy 😅 I’m pleased with how my sketching has developed recently. It really took off in my year of sketching last year - and I followed the Good Ship Illustration’s ‘sketchbookers friend’ audio guide which talked me through timed sketches - and honestly I think that was the key to unlocking my sketches.
I love this! You are inspiring me to try sketching people. I find them so challenging.
Thank you! You know, I used to hate drawing people, and when I got back into art a few years ago I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t draw them because they stressed me out too much! But I found the free timed sketching resource on The Good Ship Illustration website (I think it’s called ‘the sketchbookers friend’), and timing my sketches really opened my eyes. I could focus on just drawing super quick and focussing on getting down what I could in 1, 3, 5 minutes. If it didn’t turn out well, it was less of a big deal because it took me 1 minute or whatever. This helped me actually get a bunch of practice without it hurting my heart too much! After doing that for a few months I got into a groove of seeing my own ‘handwriting version’ of my drawing (which is my style!) and now drawing people is my absolute favourite thing to do. And timed sketching is still the best!
@@EmmaWoodthorpe Thank you, I will check that out! That sounds brilliant.
you’re very welcome
Beautiful, Emma. x Nell.
Thank you!
Cool sketches!
thank you!
Lovely sketches Emma and such a lot!😍 How long were you drawing for altogether? x
Thank you! I had my sketchbook out for about 6 hours, but I wasn’t always drawing for that time. I wonder if anyone would be interested in a real-time video? It might be pretty long, which is why I always timelapse. What do you think? 🤔
@@EmmaWoodthorpe I definitely would be!!!
Good to know, thank you!
