    Ashley book of knots, #1017. It's listed as the anglers loop. It appears to be the knot you demonstrated. Thanks.

    My favorite knot of all time. I tie it in the bight and feed the lead through in just a matter of seconds. It is an extremely useful knot for all sorts of general purpose tasks.

      inferior way of tying a bowline, the most commonly known knot around.

    Perfect.... except you can't tie it around a static object. I'll stick with the bowline. But thanks! Always enjoy the videos.

    This loop has become my favorite over the last year and I tie it at least several times a week or more but not as tied here. If you put heavy strain on this loop it is hard to untie . All you have to do is have enough line at the end after tying to fold back the last few inches before pulling the one loop thru the other.....giving you a quick release thar you can pull and untie all in less than half a second ........instead of wasting time picking a knot. With the quick release slip.......it is the perfect loop for many or most applications.

    I have been using the Alpine Butterfly to put a loop near the end.
    Three over the fingers loops, pull the middle loop under, over and through.
    Pull tight, 5-10 seconds, done.
    I like this knot as well but I kept missing the middle loop end under the standing end.

    The one knot I remember from my time working at a local fly shop many moons ago. It's a good one. Now, if I could just remember the bimini twist.

    I seem to recall being taught this loop by my Uncle Les back in the mid-1950s, he said it was the "Perfect" loop to tie in NYLON fishing line, especially in light line, say 8 lb breaking strain or under.

    good knot but should show how to tie around a closed loop i.e. fishing hook

    It is the Angler's loop - Ashley's book has spoken. Also apparently it hard to untie so not perfect however they say that about the double figure of eight so not sure they right.

    So how do you tie this around a tree? I personally like the tautknot. Selftightening, adjustable. The fishermans knot is also a favourite. I use the cobraknot as well, 4 passes to create a slider and can in this way create a adjustable loop. ( an unfinished cobra knot bracelet )

      ua-cam.com/video/czuPOGrMwx8/v-deo.html this guy ties it differently, but use his method starting at 2:18

      Basically you just tie a loose overhand knot, and then feed the end around the object and then finish the knot using his method. I don’t know how to tie it around an object using weavers method

    I need a really big stopper knot for my sailboat. Would a monkeys fist be suitable?

    Bowline is a better knot as it can be tied with one hand.

    Hi, awesome Videos. Since your channel features cool edc gear, functional, diy jewelery and stuff in that general direction....I figured you would be the appropriate expert to ask for advice in the matter of modifying a GTFO bracelet, to make it look more like a fashionable bracelet and less like the functional gear it is. Do you know of this edc-item by any chance?

    This looks similar to bowline .Is it perfect thou?My favorite is kalmyk loop ,i used it to lift a 700kg machine and it untied with a simple pull of string ,such a great and strong knot for steady loads and yet so easy to dismantle.

    It seems very like a single version of the double dragon loop ua-cam.com/video/gx95-jf6fAM/v-deo.html I find the double version easier to tie and dress.

      @graemeo3440 11 місяців тому

      The double dragon is a very underrated knot. I like it because it is very easy to control the size of the loop and it can be tied mid line.

    • @thundercell13
      @thundercell13 11 місяців тому +1

      Yup! In scouts I was taught how to tie it one handed so in the instance you were ever hanging or floating and someone throws you a line you can tie it around you one handed, or you get injured and only have one hand to tie it

      It depends. The perfection loop can jam quite badly more so than the bowline but this can make it more desirable in angling or for bungee/shock cord.

  • @equesdeventusoccasus
    @equesdeventusoccasus 11 місяців тому

    It appears to be a loop that would be difficult to get the exact loop size you want, I'd hardly refer to such as perfection.
