Well I used a road flare while camping right after a rain storm soaked all our clothes and it worked better than anything I've ever used before....and will use them again,it was a twenty minute flare.... perfect....
Next time I take the kids camping and show that I can light the water on fire, I will tell them I am no longer known as "Dad". I'm now to be called "The Great and Powerful Dad".

Be like the squirrels If you put all your nuts in one stash spot, you'll die, the only way is having many stash spots, some even 100 miles from your location. Does a squirrel stay in its home if the tree starts to burn? Ever seen a squirrel travelling at night, they do sometimes but very hard to see them or hear them in the dark. God Bless
A good idea for making fire is a can of Sterno. I usually take a stick, dip it in the can, then smear the Sterno around on what I want to light on fire. I do keep multiple methods as an ignition source, but the one I use the most is the standard lighter because its easiest. Great video.
Love channel! I discovered that you can roll a #10 o-ring on a bic lighter and it will fit under the red gas lever and prevent unintended discharge during storage and transport.
You can't ever go wrong with candle s in your kit but that tinder staying lit on top of water is pretty cool im adding this to my pack great video thanks again👍✌
Dude your awesome. Watching your vids and learning from them gives me so much hope of keeping my family and even others alive in a shtf situation. Great content bro and thank you.
I have a kit assembled simular to yours, but one (actually, 2) items I have in mine I hardly see anybody using or carrying any more is I have a plastic test tube loaded with potassium permanginate and an old Visine bottle with glycerin in it for times when lighting a fire really is tricky, wind and rain, wet tinder, ect. I have practiced with it and a pinch of the potassium permanginate and a drop or two of the glycerin is more than enough to get a hot intense flame to start a fire. I have enough of each in my kit to start at least a dozen fires. Thanks and see you in the next one.
@@Liam-iv7wk telling you from experience that I'll take candle s and matches over anything else anytime because depending how long and what weather that lighter will either break or gas vapor will leave lighter but this tinder he is showing is some pretty cool stuff to add to the pack but have a nice day and stay safe👍✌
Why is watching (and listening to) this stuff burning on the water so beautifully soothing..? 😄 I expected this ultimate tinder to cost a fortune, but it is honestly VERY reasonably priced, and I will DEFINITELY be looking into it and will be picking some up! Thanks for the information, brother! 👍
I AM JUST AN UNFROZEN CAVEMAN YOU'RE WAYS FRIGHTENED AND CONFUSED ME BUT THERE IS ONE THING I DO KNOW THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO SYNTHESIZE EXCITED BROMINE IN AN ARGON MATRIX😁
I'm a little late to the comments but for anyone just finding this video: For my fire bag I've been playing around and found this works very well: Ferro rods & knife for ignition, Char cloth for base starter as it takes a spark very quickly, pine needles/dry leaves/bark/wood shavings/small sticks for kindling. With that I can pretty much get a good ember going anywhere long as I can find dry wood for the fire and I always replenish what I can of the Char cloth or kindling each fire I make. For Char cloth I just take two tin cans (standard size bean/veggy cans) put cotton T-shirt or denem strips in bottom and set the other on top and they should seat together fine and allow a small amount of gas out. once smoke stops you're golden! just remember to let it cool down before you remove top can or it'll ignite itself.
So many thing would melt or explode down here in AZ for a “car kit” it’s an extra step all the time but I have to take all that stuff out when I get home and have to put it back into the car every time I leave home. Annoying but preparedness wins.
Alabama heat and the humidity is not better, you have my sympathy. I do know what it's like. Next month our temp's is going to begin getting hot. But I can 210% say I'll take the heat any day over the cold. I've had 11 major surgeries and still have that many left to go through. Arthritis doesn't like cold. But seriously to, get somewhere cold and your body really shivering cold and practice with your Firearms. You find it is a lot harder than you'd think. But be prepared for all types of weather. My Glock slide is easy for me even though I have arthritis in my hands, I taught my sons to practice in the winter as well as our 104+ days. Both are really good today. I was taught at 4 I started both my boys at the same age and now teaching the grandkids. It takes that forbidden Taboo don't touch, sneaking around your back and a accident happen. I've never hid my Firearms, I keep one in my chamber. I was raised this way. Anyway back to point, I'm not sure how cool it gets there I know you have hot weather like ours. Just trying to get others to practice in different types of weather, very cold hands and body.
I live in North East Texas and it also gets hot and humid here. What I have found to be helpful in keeping things you want to stay cool in the vehicle is a cold bag from the grocery store. It's heavily insulated and zips up so I thought about keeping my emergency water and food along with an emergency kit in that bag and keep it in a dark area in my pickup. I bet that would work.
a Bick lighter is the greatest lighter ever made, simple and last forever, i found a 20 year old Bick in an old junk car that was in the woods for decades and it still worked.
It appears to have superior spark start and wet start to the standard cotton ball + petroleum jelly combo that we all already use. That said, I would be interested to see a side by side intensity and duration test between the two in order to see if there is a justification in the increased cost (not that cotton and PJ are free, but they are very, very cheap). That comparison - if you got more intense flame for longer duration - might justify this being more than an emergency tender pack (though, as an emergency tender, it seems ideal). Also, information on comparative weight, packaging (it is easily resealable or will it need repackaged), and if it soils your hands like cotton balls and PJ tends to. When a product is a slight improvement over the status quo, those gritty little details all matter.
7:42 *Using the sharp edge of your knife on a Ferro rod will dull the blade. It would be best to use the 90° angle back spine of the blade.* *Yes it's true that a folding knife comes with risks but if it won't lock you have a whole other problem.*
I would personally pack a pencil sharpener. Making feather sticks with cold hands is not fun and just by turning regular sticks in a pencil sharpener you have an almost infinite supply of tinder. It's easy to obtain and isn't too difficult to get a flame from a spark. Pro tip to get one with different sized holes for bigger/smaller sticks
Personally, I can only recommend a blue flamed lighter as your EDC lighter. It has been for me the most reliable lighter that works in wind, upside down and ignites things fast, even when moist. It should do a great job outdoors as well, but you can't judge its state easily, thus having alternatives is important.

If you're in your car you can use everything in your car to burn to make a fire to keep warm and there's seat covers there's Tinder there's everything you need to survive so maybe you should make a video on that you have gas in your lines you have oil you have resources if you're stuck in your car then what are you do I think that would be a great video show them how to do it and live life be happy and be prosperity God bless and thanks for your videos
Here in South Africa you can buy tiny mini containers of Vaseline that look just like the big ones. Cut the tips off about 12 Q tips. Mix them into the little container of Vaseline. Use a pair of tweezers to pull out a nice gooey Vaseline-covered Q-tip, either for fire or for first aid. That way you don't get your fingers all sticky and the Vaseline remains uncontaminated if it's for first aid.
@@Matthias_Fischer I've always started fires with really good dry natural tinder: dead grasses, tiny dead twigs, crushed up crunchy dead leaves, and then the tee-pee style build up to larger n larger. I'll have bigger twigs waiting then just progress until I'm up to branches and deadwood. I've been starting campfire or leaf litter fires since I was a kid. I've never seen most of what C.P. showed today. Of, I've used resin too but I prefer to bring pieces into my house as a natural fragrance.
