These guys are amazing. I lived in Japan and the pressure there to conform is intense in a way that is kind of hard to understand if you haven't had much experience with the culture. These guys are really sticking out their necks and letting the freak flag fly. Incredibly creative music. It's no wonder they had to leave Japan to get noticed.
@@magnusgilberg775 I keep seeing that name - what is it, krung....what? Guess I should listen to them next - along with vanishing twin and broadcast and soundcarriers and so many more!
Barely hearing this for the first time, the band feels like exploding galaxies and the drummer is the strands of time that hold them from falling into chaos
as a 63 yr old longhaired hippy partial to altered states, bands like this wrap me in frequencies infused with outward facing positive energy flows in an otherwise drab n dismal nonvibrational wave trough. After becoming totally dialed in across the spectrum, I am then jettisoned upward and outward into the wave of unending probabilty so I might seize this linear instant right *now* , at which point I surrender utterly to its megadimensional embrace and join all of you in the eternal unfolding of the all encompassing creative flow of the bliss of infinite becoming.
Hats off to KEXP! I am simply amazed at their ability to again and again unearth these gems, both local and international. Thanks a lot to the whole team. The work you do is exceptional.
I just got recommended this video, which led me to checking their website.... where I found that they are currently on a final tour and going on "indefinite hiatus" at the end of 2022. They will be back in Seattle in 5 days, and I will be there for sure. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found this now, and not a week from today...
Just listened to house on the tall grass. An amazing album from an amazing band. Glad to hear psychedelic music is getting a resurgence with some modern twists.
Just saw these guys in a tiny, cramped little theater in Arcata, CA. Utterly mind blowing performance! And there must have been 40 or so pedals on that stage!
This band was randomly recommended to me on Facebook telling me they had a show in my city but the show was starting in 15 mins lol kinda wish it was advertised earlier so I could prepare
Saw them open for Khruangbin last Saturday. The lights are all dim and I'm like "There's five guys on stage with effing black wigs like Khruangbin wears, what is this shit?" Lights turn on and it was actually Asians with long black hair. Wild, wild performance. Really good.
Started listening to them a month ago and drove 3 hours from New Hampshire to Burlington to see them last night. Flawless performance. Here they were a little shakier but it's hard to keep so many pedals under control every night.
when listening to that solo around 6:15 on the studio recording... i NEVER realized that was a wah'd sitar. really cool sound. they're music is so uncluttered and full of sound at the same time, love it.
Their new album is amazing! Dripping Sun is probably my favourite song that they've released. Saw them three times last year and definitely recommend everyone checking them out live
I just discovered this band two nights ago, coming from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard....and holy shit, I LOVE Kikagaku Moyo! I cannot get high enough! I have been listening to nothing else for 48 hours. My soul is flying.
Good, good band. A different sound from what is popular, even on independent scene, and very much appreciated. In some parts, it reminded me something like "East Asia Tinariwen".
Wow thanks, just listened to their track Camo. I'm sure you know of Harsh Toke and maybe Fuzz as well. I haven't seen too many psych bands but on the heavier side seeing Fuzz in a forest was so good. I'll keep my eyes peeled for anyone coming over here in England.
Love Harsh Toke! I'm not familiar w/ Fuzz but going to check them out now. Thanks for the recommendation. That show sounds amazing! Seeing any psych/stoner/metal band in the a forest sounds like the best way to see them!
They're a Ty Segall project, you may like his other stuff too. Yeah man, it was so nice, surrounded by peacocks just strolling around :) Peace and well wishes to you!
Wish they weren't forced to pay to play shows there. The music is so beautiful I hope they continue to go all over the world and spread it including Tokyo:).
@@sentientcardboarddumpster7900 There have been since the 1970s - Far East Family Band, High Rise, LSD March, Flower Travellin' Band, Acid Mothers Temple - just to name a few of many.
right on, Mono was a real serious experience my friend! Band says its their fave tour ever. Very emotional. i posted video montreal show /sloburnjo on YT nb. 4 Japanese bands this year! Mono, Acid Mothers Temple, Kikagaku Moyo and Boris! plus so much great psychedelia abounds. cheers.
Love these guys! Japan definitely has some awesome bands, but I can't say I've felt such legit psychedelic vibes from any until now. Never change, Kikagaku Moyo!

Lol... Sadly I know this feeling too..
so true
Same pressure that produces bands like The Boredoms and G.I.S.M. in reaction...
LOL Boredoms would like to have a word. These guys are not the first or the freakiest. Still great stuff though.
What are they saying in lyrics? Which language?
Im a simple man, I clicked when i saw a sitar and a unique band name. Best decision of the year!
Just saw the name and knew it was gonna be good.
I didnt see any sitar on the thumbnail

Now on my list of bands to see. At 63 years old, I've seen plenty.
go see them! it's an incredible experience!!
I don't know, what I've been told
You never slow done, never grow old!

The spirit of the 60s is strong in them. They have one foot in another dimension.

Great band, saw them at Gizzfest and was a fan ever since.
Same man was blown away, been following them since then
Gotta love the Gizz!
jizz fest?
I heard about KM from a post by an equipment guy who left KG touring to tour with KM. Gizzard fan here.
Kikagaku Gizzard Of The Moyo Wizzard
@Alex Kingstone probably the best crossover in the history of music

i've been avoiding listening to these guys because I purposefully missed their show in town a year ago and here I am i can't resist them
the jam at the end of fluffy kosmisch is amazing and they 100% know it themselves, the looks on their faces say it all

I have. I liked their performance of i'm in your mind a bit better though. However, king gizzard always brings a good performance though.
Alton Gün's KEXP session for me. This is still sick though
I would've thought these guys were from California, not Japan. lol. So glad I came across this!
Great tunes, great trousers.
