I've planted some peas and cucumber last weekend from seed and they're already coming up from the soil! 🌱💚 I keep them in my kitchen window for now because we still getting some snow here in the UK. But it's really cool to see how quick they grow from nothing 😊 Can't wait for the summer! ☀️ Thank you for your positive content as always! 🥰 xx.
Carrie HOW did you KNOW I wanted to get into gardening/growing veggies literally THIS WEEK?!👩🏽🌾💓I was so confused as to where I start and this video is SO on time it’s crazy! Love love love it!! :)
Yesterday, we spent the whole day preparing for the new season in our garden. Can’t wait for the summer full of tasty tomatoes, zucchini’s, sweet pea and much more 💛 Thank you Carrie! We never thought that we may like gardening so much and your Instagram stories back in 2019 inspired us to try!
My husband and I started a garden last year and you def inspired us to do it! I absolutely love it and it’s so much fun! Love ya Carrie and your channel it’s amazing! Thank you 💕
Thanks for this, Carrie! I have been planting a veggie garden for the past three years up here in northern England. If anyone is in the UK, and wondering about plants in this climate, here are a few veg/fruit/herbs that I have planted and have been very successful at: tomatoes, peas, strawberries, kale, courgettes (zucchini), radishes, rosemary, parsley, thyme, and bok choy, surprisingly. I have had a really difficult time with pumpkins, corn, coriander (cilantro), cauliflower, and basil.
Just found your channel and I’m starting building my raised beds this summer for next years planting. We have a mini garden that my 6 year old started and he’s really found a liking to gardening. For all of our health, we are driving on in by following you and a lot of your advice. Thank you for being real and honest with what works and doesn’t. Love when you said veggies work best around other veggies just like people. Made me giggle
I started gardening after I got married. Loose leaf lettuce is the easist to grow and it will cut and grow again. My wife has been a big help although when she arrived from her home in the Philippines it took her time to understand that pineapples will grow great until this thing called winter hits.
Thank you for sharing all this information.... I've started looking at growing our own vegetables and this provides a simple way to create the beds. We did peppers this year but looking to grow the things we enjoy eating which are all included in your notes.
I loovvveeeee cabbage and zucchini too! It can be used for so many meals! Simple or complex! Tomatoes too (Mexican and Spaniard household here) so yes! I can’t wait to start and show my kids the skill this year! Thanks for your video
Geen onion is amazing in the garden! I live in Ontario, and my geen onion plans from last summer survived the snow and winter! They're thriving now that it's warmer again
Zucchini pickle....yummy! I have fantastic recipe if you want it. Got a jar of it from the Clevedon market, took it home to Los Angeles and perfected it. Then moved to the North Island of New Zealand and everyone over here loves it.
I just picked up some seedlings today at my local garden center! I thought about picking up cabbage and now I’m sad I didn’t!!! Might have to go back 😏. Have you found that green cabbage is easier to grow than red? This year I’m trying Kale and Leeks for the first time and I’m so excited!!
I don’t have a garden so I want to plant them in a much smaller planter. Could you elaborate on how much space certain plants need? I don’t want to smother the roots…
You did not mention the time in which to plant the various vegetables. That would be very helpful. Also what type of soil for beginners. I have 4 true seasons; we get snow usually around November.
Love this so much! I have been growing herbs and just jumped into trying out leeks. Does your homemade pesticide affect the flavor of the veggies at all? I want to try it but I'm curious if the pepper will seep into the vegetable.
What vegetables help with diabetes and do you have any suggestions on what type of garden beds for someone limited in bending and also how to garde it from small outdoor animals like hares and squirrels birds
Plan and prep in January - think where you want to lay the beds, what you want to grow etc. Know you hardiness zone, your last frost date. 6 weeks prior to the last frost date is when you start your seeds indoors. There is no one best month, but late spring, summer and fall and when most vegetables grow. Hope this was helpful!
and technically banana is a nut, but I doubt anyone actually calls it that. I guess tomato is commonly referred to as a vegetable for its uses. You don't put a tomato in a fruit salad or in a fruit smoothie, but is mostly used as vegetables are, I suppose
I planted cabbage, collie and broccoli🥦 as they grow well in Autumn/winter but the white butterfly got them 🤦🏽♀️I'll try again, but my lettuce, silver beet 🥬 spinach, Tyme, coriander and parsley are doing well, thanks for your tips.
@@CarrieRad As pretty as the butterfly is they really munted them, I'm gonna try covering like a class house but clear plastic and see if that'll work, thank you for your reply 👍🏽
I don't have a garden but I do have a big terrace and I am planning to plant veggies in big pots. Can y'all garden people give me your advice and opinion if the veggies that Carrie mansions will grow on my terrace? I already planted tomatoes last year and it worked well :)
I know this post is several years old, however there are TONS of crops that work in pots or raised beds ( I put a raised bed on our deck when we didn't have a yard. It looked a bit weird but worked great.) Some I would suggest for beginners for growing in pots would be Green onions, onions, cherry and roma tomatoes, leaf lettuce, bell peppers, jalapenos, sweet mini peppers, potatoes (will work in pots or grow bags, you will not get a crazy amount tho), peas, mini cucumbers or bush cucumbers, raddishes, strawberries, and Spinach. Some of those are slightly easier or harder to grow, however all are very doable even for a person who is new to gardening. If you are looking for a challenge crop to grow in a pot... Garlic. Garlic seems to be my personal test, I just can't seem to get it quite right.
carrie do you have any advice on growing carots. And also i got a pack for 12 NZ dollars its got onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber and another one KHALE!
Winner time potatoes all the way to kill all the way up to collard greens mustard greens greenhouse you don't have a greenhouse I'll do it on a small scale usually peanuts work really well don't have to worry about it put a plastic bag over the bucket small scale gardening does well for me lots of tomatoes all year round garlic onions gingerbread root vegetables only usually a hard squash a corn squash butternut squash and a little plastic over saves my crops sweet potatoes yams do really good pumpkin does really well cantaloupe honeydew watermelon usually a raised bed 3 ft high using wood or cinder blocks
T’is the season for gardening! More than just a hobby, but a way to nourish your body & soul. Love it.
TRUEST STATEMENT EVER!
Loved this video! Thanks!
Tomatoes, Cabbage, Zucchini, Leafy Lettuce / Kale, Peppers, Green Onion/Scallion, Cucumber.

Hey Carrie, love this and love your vlog. Would you recommend any book for a beginner gardener? Really appreciate it❤️
Nice
I’m wanting to start a garden. It’s currently the month of June. When is the best month to start a garden?

lovely video like always, but I think closed captions would help make it more accessible :-)💖
1. Tomato
2. Lettuce
3. Zucchini
4. Kale or leafy greens
5. Peppers
6. Green onion
7. Cucumber
Does the homemade pesticide make the plants spicey? Like if you spray it on the leaves of the kale? Will they be spicey?
Where is your straw garden hat from? The one with the black strings
I want to start growing but it was snowing here today 🤔
Check out no till and cover cropping, very interesting stuff, highly beneficial to the garden!!
Do you know anything about Japanese cucumbers
I have no idea why tomatoes are called veggies lol it’s actually a fruit
I love your videos btw thank you for sharing can’t wait to see more
