A friend just had me drive his NA Miata on coilovers with wide tires and an exhaust last night. It was the most fun car I've ever driven! It cornered like it was on rails and you could really feel the road beneath you. The car felt so light and nimble. Acceleration wise, It was slow.. but that wasn't bad thing at all! You could floor it, wring the engine out to redline as it makes all the race car noises, and feel like you're hitting unholy speeds but look down at the speedometer and you're barely going 50. It's a car you can fully enjoy without breaking the speed limit. I've always heard people say "Miata is always the answer" but now I get it. And next time I am financially able to justify it, I'll probably be getting one.

You missed how the NB miata had the Mazdaspeed editon that came turboed from the factory. Thats right a factory turbo charged miata
That one is fucking trash
@@jhordyzrodriguez6149 I disagree. The NB is great. The Mazda speed is nice to finally get a forced air application. Plus the suspension is better and it doesn't add points when competing. In fact most roadster cup competitors try to get the mazdaspeed suspension for their mistas because they won't jump a class. It's the NC I'm not really a fan of. They made it so much bigger. I'd like to try a ND just to see what it's like.
@@JDArcher I own the msm in my pfp lol ik but leave the NC alone I like those too lmaoo
My dad passed away last January and he had an NB Miata that is almost stock except for Koni suspension with racing beat springs and sway bars, flyin Miata poly bushings, and a 2.25 custom axle back exhaust that sounds fantastic, and other than that it has the original two tone tan black interior, no rips in the leather or cracks in any of the plastics or dash, original Nardi wheel, no wrecks of any kind, only 47k miles and in the midnight blue mica (my favorite color outside of the merlot) with the tan top. The only thing about the car that isn’t original visually is the shift knob which he replaced with one he made out of machining a solid piece of brass into a perfect size small oblong shift knob, and the front right corner panel which had a bike that his air headed wife didn’t put up right fall on it and it dented the hell out of it, so he waited forever til he found a perfect condition color matched OEM fender to put on but passed before putting it on, so I slapped that bad boy on there and it looks like a brand new car. Still even has the trunk liner in perfect condition. And for a car that lived its life in Indiana is unfathomably clean. No rust anywhere. Hardly any chips anywhere. I’ll have this car forever.
It’s pretty stock, yeah
My NC Miata will be the last car I ever buy. If anything needs to be repaired, it will also be upgraded. This car is so much f'n fun it is ridiculous.
NB2 is my favorite. It has the old school feel of the the NA but it has a stiffer chassis, quicker steering rack, 6 speed manual, VVT engine, RX7 like design, and a nicer more refined interior.
And a free turbo if ur lucky 🤟
But the only thing putting me off with an nb is the front chassis frame rail rusting from the inside out. That's scary since I hate rust
@@Kana0211 I had a 2001. Drove it every day for 5 years in snow and everything. Never had rust.
I just recently purchased a 2012 NC miata and it is the best of the three. I did my research for over a month with mechanics and enthusiasts. I am so happy with it.
reasons for saying it's the best?

No one is going to talk about how the NC weighs 50 pounds more than the NB and is better in almost every category. They cost the same as an nb/na at this point.
NC Miata is in my opinion the best Miata. It is the most liveable due to interior and trunk space being the most cavernous. I like it's proportions better than the ND. And the PRHT is its knock out punch. Even the ND doesn't offer this, it offers a power retractable targa. It's also fairly modern--far moreso than the NA & NB. Lastly, the NC weighed like 2,5XX at its heaviest which is very light for a car these days; the BRZ/86 twins weigh 300 to 400 lbs more..
NC PRHT is my fav as well
@@particleinthewave8378I like the soft top more. It is way better looking. My top is never up anyway.

ND2 isn’t a different trim, it’s a new generation of the nd.
The 1.8 showed up at the end of the NA’s cycle.
Techinally 4 years 1.6, 4 years 1.8.
Not the only things wrong in this video 😂
Technically the ND2 is not a new generation but just a facelift that got a better engine.
@@EjinRenos wouldnt say "better engine" from what i know, it just has a higher redline meaning the engine can rev out those extra 20 horsepower.
@@MadMike17 That higher redline came from modifications done to the preexisting Skyactiv G. The intake, the throttle body, the exhaust valves, piston cylinders, exhaust header, crankshaft, even the exhaust was improved to gain the higher rev range which subsequently increased the horsepower. So yes. It is a different engine as it is an improved one that isn't entirely compatible with the older one.
As an ND owner, I can say that, with current prices of the other gens (at least in Europe where a clapped NA can cost torwards 7k€), it's a pretty good buy if you plan on dailying and tracking your car.

Give me NC over ND.
I have an NB Miata and I agree 100% with the having a hard time finding a good quality one. I ended purchasing an automatic for pretty cheap with clear coat on the bumper fading with 90k miles and needed a valve cover gasket. I've used it daily for 2 years now on JNC's with some old RaceLands (I know, gross) and it has never let me down. Manual transmissions for these cars can be found for around $100-$300 (or $600ish for 6sp). Best decision of my life
Get the f#(k'n manual ASAP. You need it.
NA owner here and I want the NC miata really bad!
Yes, you do!
This would be another cool video for other cars with long generations like the Accord, Civic, Supra, 3-Series, etc!
Nice video, liked it :D
I'm one of the second type of owners, who is on #8 (and still #7). Loved my NA's and B's, but the NC is the most versatile platform. My ND(2) is amazing, but I'm so glad I didn't sell the NC as it has the most capability for modding because of the strength of the chassis (a short RX-8). The hydraulic steering feels so much more connected than the electric on the ND. Any of these cars needs a good sway bar/lowering suspension and wider tires/wheels to get the most out of them.
Lots of missed facts but a good video. Pop up headlights were banned in America after 2000 due to pedestrian safety laws. The 1994 and ip NA's came with a 1.8 liter motor. NB's had the turboed Mazdaspeed edition and also had a VVT 1.8 at the end of that generation. NB2's also had an immobilizer which is rather annoying and expensive. NC's had a great Club trim model and the retractable hardtop was genius. ND's have the sexy RF edition. There are so many great things about Miatas. Comparable to the Jeep community because of the help factor and parts are available. I love the NB and own one myself.
In my book... theres the NA6 that had a 1.6L with 110bhp '89('90)-'93 its the original NA and its cheap however, by now it costs alot to fix up for it to perform well while keeping it's reliability. The NA8 '94-'97 had the 1.8L block that made 130bhp, they are also very cheap, they have the 1.8L as well as the later NA updates, although this is as far as you will get with pop ups. Next you got the NB1/NB2(I'm not entirely sure what happened there) '99-'05 these made just a hair more power with the same 1.8L just with a different head, i know this is when the introduced VVT. Like the NA its still heavily supported by aftermarket products and high driver volume. I will throw out there that in a straight line this was the slowest compared to the NA8 NC and ND2. Still a really good option though. Then there is a NC1/NC2 ('06-'15), the ugly middle child. It made about 130bhp with the 1.8L and 170bhp out of the new 2.0L with small changes over the years. This would now out perform the earlier cars in stock form but was never seen to look all that good as it did have many body touch ups over the years. This is where aftermarket support began to fall off for the newer cars, it is also worth mentioning that they haven't depreciated enough so finding one wont be hard but cost will be on the higher end for a miata. Lastly there is the latest ND1('16-'17)/ND2('18-) ('16-) the ND1 would have a 1.5L option good for about 130bhp as well as a 2.0L option capable of 155bhp. The ND2 would have a slightly sharper facelift and the 2.0L option putting out 181bhp. Here we see the latest miata on the market that looks spectacular. This is also when we start to see a large return in aftermarket support such as LS swap kits, full turbo kits and alot more for the ND. The ND would make fantastic option however its price still holds high for now. The way I see it, all the generations need some sort of power upgrade to push past that 200hp mark(they are all still alot of fun stock). All of them are capable for accepting that power but it would just come down to cost and preference. I dont plan on paying near sticker price for a ND and I liked the pop ups on the NA as well as the culture of that generation. I think the 1.6 is a little out dated by now(sorry NA6 guys) and would need repairs and replacements in just about every corner of the car. However with the NA8 updates is about in the sweet spot for me, it's got the pop ups, HEAVY aftermarket support, doesnt need as much updates as the NA6 and is cost friendly towards novice car guys, but its whatever you want that you should go after :)
Nice book 👍
Mid 2000’s for sure. The new ones are way too badass for the small amount of horsepower. The old ones were cute, as they should be
That intro was hilarious 😂👍
The NC is the best car of the four generations; period. It may be the “worst” Miata, but it’s a better car than the rest. Plus the NC is NOT as heavy as people think.
Yeah, it's the lightest car I've ever daily driven by at least 150 lbs, and I've owned S13s and an MR2
I think you meant to say best boat
Having owned an NC1 and ND2, no. The ND2 is superior but the NC is greatly underappreciated.
I own an NA Miata and I love it. I was honestly lucky to get it cheap though because the owner didn't know what he had. NAs have been bro taxed like crazy. I seen one for sale recently with NO TITLE for 4k so 🤷 yeah

i was thinking of a widebody and a wing for the na when i get one, and if u can put, led rings around the lights
So controversial to say this but the NC is the best driving car of the bunch while NA is clearly the classic all-around setup especially because it's the first and it's got the hideaways. An NC is an absolute sports car that was purpose built. I've been underneath all of these cars and driven all of them and there's something about the way the NC drives that just gives it the edge in my book. I happen to own an NA and an NC so I do not hate on any of the generations though I'll tell you this the NB is the least attractive of all miatas. There's just something way too soft looking about it. I think the only way you could fix the NB is to retrofit hideaway headlights on it. My na is fire engine red original Wheels with Tien coilovers and falken z rated tires and my NC is a Grand touring deep metallic green, tan top, 17 inch wheels with the factory bilsteins. It's more rigid, has more grip, has more power than the na and is the car that I would challenge anyone in the twisties with over my na. I've driven the ND and it's way too squishy in the suspension from the factory. Don't believe anyone when they discredit the NC Miata. It is the underdog and in my heart the champion of all miatas
Agreed. I think NC Miata is the best Miata

as someone who's 6'2 and works for a mazda dealership, i have to say that i fit perfectly in a soft top ND (hence why ive purchased one) aside from that, i fit pretty good in an NB, i can squeeze into an NA but for the life of me i could never drive an NC comfortably. the roof is so low, the steering wheel doesnt come up enough, and the seat doesnt go far enough back. with this being said, if you can fit in any of them, i personally think the NB is your best option, with ND in second, NA in 3rd and NC in 4th. again this is my personal opinion and im sure others feel differently when it comes to the cars physically, and whether or not they can get over being a bit scrunched in the car.
