However they never really kicked off. But it was great for us. Mine have the, “now dead”, tritium flip up sights. Thank you for the video!

I brought my New M77 home about a month ago. Like a few others here one of my first thoughts was what to do with the buttstock. I even went so far as to order some wood for it, which arrived a couple of weeks ago. Those thoughts vanished as soon as I added a scope to it (using the Zastava scope mount). I like the Zastava scope mount since it keeps the 1913 rail very very low above the receiver dust cover, meaning it also allows me to mount the scope nice and low. Now I don't care what the buttstock looks like because the adjustable comb and adjustable length of pull puts my cheek exactly where it needs to be for perfect cheek weld and eye alignment with the scope. The original M77 buttstock stays until something much better comes along, and I don't see that happening anytime soon. For me everything about the M77 is functional and that's what counts. It's also nice that Zastava are selling 10 round magazines for the M77. Perfect for shooting from a bench rest position. The buttstock also has four QD sling mount points and a single sling slot for those that can't make up their mind. The only thing I have changed so far (besides adding a scope) was to add a flash suppressor and get rid of the oversized "Tango Down" pistol grip in favor of an original black plastic Yugo grip (fits my hand better). Like I said, functional is what counts.

Most comfortable handguard grip you can have which is why I love hogue products. The archangel buttstock on my m70 and the m77 is awesome bc of the qd points and cheekriser. I changed out the polymer upper handguard and put a cheese grater. But there’s so many stocks out there with good qd points and various handguards. I like quad rails and mlok rails. There’s others I would go with before i go to polymer bc I don’t care for polymer furniture. But being left handed, I can’t do wood furniture and you can’t do much with it either. SR25 mags. 16" to 18" barrels. Hmmm? It sounds like what you really want is a modern AR10 variant and not a M77.
The new gen 1 13" Galil rnl is something I wanted way more then the .308 and they popped up on the market exactly when I could buy it. The gen 2 .308 is something I can buy later since iwi will continue making them. But the zastava m77 is good competition for that role.
Always great content! Any time I want AK knowledge, your channel is in my top 3
My brothers both got versions of the Springfield M1A. I was gonna get an AR10-style rifle but I think I might go with this M77 instead.
Go with M77 M1As are expensive to modify or accurize
Thank you for this video! I was on the fence about getting one and I think you might have just pushed me over!
It’s cool that a bind guy is into guns.
I’ve been fondling one of these for the past few weeks, trying to find a reason to justify it. I like everything about it, except that rear stock. There has to be something a little more appropriate that can go on there. It’s better than the import style thumbhole stock, but less than completely satisfying.
So replace it with something?
Quit telling us this and buy it. Figure it out man
This was a great episode. Your channel is one of the best. Having a co,host was freaking awesome
I usually hate polymer handguards, but liked the M77's Serbian polymer hanguard a lot.
Straight out of the box a nice rifle. My saiga 308 was a pain to convert. But it’s Russian and that ain’t coming back
Got word that mine is on the way. Shipped today! 😊
I think you will love it, I have had this one a few days now and the more I handle it the more I like it.
I was about to pick one of these up a few months ago, but came across a galil ace gen 1 308, which was hard to pass up
Becomes a lot easier when you factor in mag capacity and cost, afaik the gen 1 308 comes with only 10rd-ers
just picked up a "battleworn" wood furniture one today. waiting for a 25 round mag to be in stock.
Love mine, built like a tank. Not a fan of the buttstock though, wished it came with the folding zhukov
Not sure if that folder is realy strong enough to take 1000s of rounds of .308 over time?
@Kilgor yup
Thanks for the video! Can you please make a video on the Yugo M76!
One day I'm sure I will drag it out to the range.
One of the rare Zastava rifles I didnt got to shot while serving in the Yugoslavian and later Serbian army!
Thank you for this video
How do these compare to the vepr and saiga (non-sporter) in .308?
Seems a bit softer shooting to me.
Love the channel I hope you get to be a big UA-camr
Thanks but no thanks heh. I've been here since 2011. If i really wanted to get 'big' I could have done that a long time ago. Last thing i need in my life is more stresss and more responsibility. I like keeping things fun and casual, and also being able to realy talk with folks. Basically, I want to still ahve fun at this and not have it evolve into a real job.
Nice. Prefer the Romanian PSL-54 in 7.62x54R (chrome lined barrel so suited to corrosive ammo), which is about $2,500 with a Russian 4x24mm illuminated reticule scope from Atlantic Firearms.
This too has a chromelined bore, and while no optic is included, it costs about 1/2 of what a PSL does these days.
Wow what an awesome rig
8:23 you pull the mag out and…. You get a cat 😂
Yes and...? Isn't that normal?
Been eying these since shotshow,
I haven't ;P
Awesome video! I've been considering an m77 and I'd want to add a zrak optic, but I'm a lefty. Any recommendations for a good mount that would center the scope?
The thumbnail only was good already 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Plastic stock is a crime against gunmanity! I can't wait to get the Wood and steel version. 🎉
Do those magazines also work in 308-converted M76s? I don't see why they wouldn't but I'm new to these weapons in general.
What stock does this thing have holy moly?! It looks amazing! 🔥
Personally that front handguard is both not modern enough, and too much of a pain to remove and replace for my liking. I eventually, through blood and sweat, installed a quad rail, and this thing looks like it could steal 3200 wives per second.
Hi, could you tell me if the M2010 in 308win is exactly a M77? Does this mean that one can shoot both 308 and 7.62 NATO ammo? Cheers.
I wonder why PSA does not make a PSA priced version of this.
These are now available in proper wood furniture.
Wow, that gun an 8 mm you showed looks really interesting I’d love to see a video on that. 8 mm really is a smoking round, is it safe to say it’s a little overkill for what it was?
Not really. The M76 is perfect for 8mm and designed for 800+ meter shots. Normally, it sports a 4x scope, but I took it off just for this video.
I have owned this rifle for over a uear now. Its shoots basketball sized groups at 100 meters. 1500 for that.
Mishaco, can you show us the primers on your casings from this guy in the follow up? Mine look like a splash more than a punch....
I put all triggers in all my aks except my zastava zpapm70 it just has a nice feeling military trigger my npap I put a all but the zpap leaving the military trigger in I it just felt so good
The “assault, battle, DMR”
That was funny. When you pull a MAG out you get a cat
What? Doesn't that always happen to everyone? Why do you think we have so many cats.
Got one of the last OG's Classic had. Blowout price of $499.
Csspecs? Is our US supplier of mags and he makes a damn good product.
Have yet to have any issues with it. Id like to get a new one and dress it with wood.
I wish they weren't putting that notch cut out safety on aks
I would like to see you review a M77B
Is that different than M77
Are they gonna be reintroducing the M76? That'd be awesome!!! Love the t-shirt btw.
Sadly the M76 is gone forever. They got rid of their tooling to do milled receivers. They could make this gun in 7.92x57 if there was enough demand for it, but that’s unlikely.
@@connorburnes7697 done right, that rifle could be the next offering from PSA's new partnership with the guy doing the Sturmgewehrs. Offer it in 8mm for purists, but also in .30-06 and other long action calibers.
@@maverickpaladin4155 I would like to see that. Original M76s are unobtainable. They just have to judge there to be enough demand in the market to do it.
"And a cat! Every time you take the mag out you get a cat..." Golden! 🙂
Greatest AK ever.
I never really liked the M-90 because it was so long and heavy for a .556 dmr ( For some reason I couldn't help but think i would rather be shooting a 20' M16 variant.) I am an AK guy so I guess that rifle just wasn't for me. That said -This rifle looks like it might be my cup of tea. I like the caliber and I want to try it now.
For me this rifle competes with something like the Romanian PSL as I would try to use for longer distance than my X39 rifles.
(Now that I read my own comment - I think its possible that I love the Russian AKM so much that I've become a kind of a snob. I think I need to open my mind of these amazing Zastava rifles.)
I apologize for just rambling here, but they say comments help the UA-cam algorithm so at least im rambling for a good cause! As always I enjoy your videos Mishaco.
@@ghostmourn 2008-2017 was the time to collect Russian built AKs, just as 2005-2013 was peak Romanian time. Today, we're living in the best world for Serbian AKs, and like the others it won't last forever. Also its the best time for Polish AKs too.
It's still long and heavy, bruv. It's just not... offensively heavy, I guess
8:24 got those ups !
Which one would you chose the M77 or a DSA FAL?
What a powerful rifle!
Imagine chopping the barrel to 16" with a jmac brake on it.. hmmm
I mean, you could for sure. Personally, 18" is about as short as I like to go with .308 firearms. It does need a brake though, i agree.
@@misha5670 tabuk flask hider?
Do they make curved .308 mags?
Great Weapon !!!
I want this so bad.
You could get one on Atlantic Firearms they're available and they have the magazines as well
U no how new guns are Misha sometimes they have a couple hiccups the first couple hundred rounds I've been wanting get my hands on one of those since they have been imported
Would a mosin be modern if it had synthetic stocks?
For some collectors, anything that fires a smokeless powder cartridge is 'modern'.
Alright iv been waiting on this video
Was gonna get one but found a .308 vepr a boomer mutilated the side rail on for way under market value, can't pass up sub 1k veprs even if I have to hunt down and re rivet another rpk-74m rail on
I want one...with m76 furniture
Everything's better with wood.
@@misha5670 Cruisin down the street with my Yu-go
Will M70 furniture fit?
7.62×54R is the oldest Russian machine gun cartridge in use , and is a good cartridge obviously, maybe why a logistic choice. In comparison to America's oldest the 50 cal. BMG cartridge in 12.7mm
My only gripe with these is that by moving the side rail back, they make using M76 scopes impossible.
What do you mean?
That's incorrect. Literally look at their catalogue of rail mount attachments, they make more than one for this reason.
@@BeamMonsterZeus All of the current Zastava imports have their side rail moved back compared to where the M76 and M77 had their rails. The eye relief doesn't match up.
As a fellow deep diving firearms lover, I greatly respect you and your dedication. I know what it takes to learn all of this stuff. I started at age 4 and by age 10 I eclipsed every single one of my dads friends who were agency guys. I joined the military in 1990 and deployed 7 times in my career and on my last deployment to Afghanistan in 2010, I had to testify before the UN to provide evidence that several countries violated treaties and provided arms to the Taliban and AQ. I have been on detached duty to several agencies and I am a federal court certified Firearms expert and have recently worked for a US Congressman to provide technical support to defend the 2nd Ammendment. I'm currently finishing my Masters Degree and hold six undergrad degrees, and 11 Certificates including 3 in firearms related fields. I tell you this not to brag but to indicate to you the depth of knowledge I have to say that I respect your dedication and consider you a peer with great knowledge. I am truly humbled by your dedication.
I have been hearing zastava have been having metallurgy issues? Figured I would ask the man if he has heard anything? Keep it up Misha!
This rumour has been floating around the internet for literally a decade. I'll just say listen to actual owners of their products and see what they have to say about their 1st-hand experiences.
@@misha5670 10-4 thank you Misha!
@@scottbedard3471 I've got several Zastava's (M-70s, M-85, M-90, M-92, & M-77). I've run the piss out of all of them, other than the M-77 (I've only had it a day & put 250 rounds down the pipe). Never had a metallurgy issue with any of them.
Check out the century built 1mm receiver rifles cracking at the takedown, haven't seen that with the Zastava imports.
I'm not questioning zastavas quality, just asking if what I've been hearing is true or false
You think the m77 will hold up over time? The m70 is a well built AK, but I’m curious how 308 will hold up over time with the extra beating it puts on the receiver and trunnions
The M91s hold up. They have the same receiver, but just with an extension for the larger bolt and carrier. I’d imagine the M77 will do fine. Zastava has been making this gun a long time before we got it.
This Zastava rifle is a serious weapon for war, this is not a toy. It can fire an unlimited number of bullets, in fact, it is a weapon made to last. Some 60% of the rifle is pure manual work, which means that serious craftsmen work on it, perhaps the best in the world.
What’s the word on M77b1 milled
For people that own one, do you have a lot of magazine wobble?? Mine has a lot of forward back wobble, and some side to side. Thanks
We had 5 mags with ours, and I don't recall any excessive play with the mags.
Can anyone tell us if the mags for these will fit in a valmet? Would be a far cheaper alternative for mags if they do
Badass shirt!
I wanted one of these so bad. Sadly my state passed some disgusting anti gun laws this year. Maybe some day ill get this rifle!
Move to AZ! We could use all the gun-loving Americans we can get right now. #1 for gun rights in the country btw.
Deer about to taste slightly like Eastern European food
LMAO
Does anybody know anything about the Southern Tactical VZ58 builds offered by Atlantic Firearms? I’ve just noticed that they’re good looking and are about 20% less $$ than the CSA imports.
Just pay for the import while they are still available.
Which is best Hk91 or this
I wonder why they didn't use the SR-25/ M14 magazine?
The Mossberg MVP 308 can accept both types why not the M77?
Because the SR25 mag didn't exist in 1977 Yugoslavia.
Because that costs more money to make a reality than just designing and selling a proprietary mag
@@misha5670 That's why I put M14 as another possible solution. I also assumed that this rifle in particular was made recently. That's also why I mentioned the magazine hybrid.
Because of the reason Mischa stated, and a gun is most reliable with a magazine designed specifically for it. You can make a gun optimized for an AR style magazine if you design it from the ground up, but these weren’t. Why kludge a magazine the gun wasn’t designed for when you can just get the proper magazine?
