  • Spring is in the air and I have Landscape Timber Wet Rot repair. The problem is the new pressure treated landscape timber it is not fully treated all the way like the ones from 20-years ago and for that reason the timber fails in as little as 2 to 3 years.

I used 4x4 Cedar to line my garden. They lasted about eight years. Thanks for this informative video, Chris.

…. that's because you purchased either treated Hem Fir or non ground contact pressure treated wood and not the more expensive Doug Fir treated via ACZA,, ACQ etc at .4 our .5 penetration. This is the spec for retaining walls and posts … most likely cheap homo depot wood and not sourced from a Contractor's Lumber Yard ….

It's a shame the manufacturers are taking shortcuts like that. Luckily it's only rot.

Dblhlr My deck is more than 25 years old and in good shape with no repairs needed up to to date... other than water sealing every 5 years. The treated wood was made by different standards back in those days it was made to last. My vegetable garden retainer wall is another story it is 5 years old and the wood treatment is not the same at all, in that short time as five years I had to replace 3 landscape treated timbers and more are showing wear and tear and wood rot. I also have a walk bath with timber that was treated 25 years ago and has not shown any wood rot. My video also shows why they didn't last and the difference between 25 years and what you bay for it is not what you get today compare to back then.

Hmmm... I finally followed Ann's advice and took Stodoys. It's great for beginners and has some advanced stuff too.
