It's interesting that the state of the game is such that one of your primary concerns is whether your chosen ship can carry the idiots you're inevitably stuck with in random games--particularly in the upper tiers.

I feel its “carry potential” is similar to Shimakaze. You’ll need to be hitting the air strikes/torps to be successful. Which depends as much on the opponent as your own aim. But the ability to deal damage without taking any in return is a great aspect of the ship
One suggestion I posted in the discord's feedback channel is a potential fix for the infinite speed boost of planes. And that is, going full speed causes you to lose fuel at a significantly faster rate, thereby reducing the overall distance you can travel. So you have to make a tactical choice, do I go further at a slower speed or do I go full speed ahead but for a much shorter distance.
Why not just go back to the old system then? The real issue with these carriers is the INSANE regen rate. There’s literally no consequence to losing planes now in high tier games
I mean that wouldn’t be bad, but I think the real problem is probably the regen. Speed boost gets you to the target faster, which buffs DPM. But also, if you’re able to regenerate your planes so fast that you can send up a full strength squadron almost every time, even after losing an entire squad to AA, then it means you’re always able to deal the full damage potential on top of the speed. So I kind of think they could leave the whole infinite speed boost as is, and then nerf the regen rate a little. That will probably having a meaningful effect.
Yes. In fact, if you send them into a really thick AA bubble, I’ve come very close to having all shot down. There are 6, and I’ve had cases where only two or even one end up surviving the AA and actually dropping, which as you can imagine drastically limits the damage output of the air strike.
I don’t have any real list videos, but that’s an idea. If you told me go play a game and carry it, though, I’d probably pick either a really good gunboat DD like Lushun or a radar cruiser like any of the higher tier American ones. You want something that can dish out lots of damage, specifically against DDs. All you really have to do to carry most games is sink the enemy DDs. The rest usually follows from there.
The armor lol. I came around the corner on a D7P in witchita 3 km broadside to me. Overpen after over no matter where I aimed. Once he angled I was getting full pens.
Yeah there is no armor on D7P. That being said, I’m pretty sure there is a gap between the armor belt and citadel, and whenever there’s one of those, shells disappear into a black hole sometimes.
Extremely fun ship to play, except for the armor, and the airstrike is kinda hard to aim and is wildly inconsistent. Also, what is that DC reload time!?! Its so incredibly long for a cruiser
Lack of armour is a big advantage for bad players. BBs can’t kill this thing broadside (I haven’t had any citadel on these, only overpens). And it’s so skinny it’s almost impossible to hit when it’s bow in. It’s a very annoying ship to play against in a BB, like a Suzuya. Maybe worst. As usual for this type of ship, bad players who sit broadside will get away with it. Decent players who try to keep a 20-30 degrees angle will get dev struck. I hate playing this type of ships.
I haven’t had the opportunity to shoot at enough of them yet, but I have been dev struck by a BB at least once in this thing. So I’m not convinced this is a case of no armor hello equals best armor.
Until they nerf hanger regen rates, and restore the catapult fighter back to its pre-update strength, this game is FUKT Also, that Asashio player shoulda been well on his way outta proximity to the impending belfasts well before the carrier died. Loss is on him dying
Carriers are where they should be - monsters of the seas - just like during WW2. If anything, DD's need limited # of torps, Cruisers and BB's need limited # of shells... THEN we got a game!

It’s the worst when it’s a potato in a tier 8 tech tree ship. How people grind entire lines and are still trash is hard to comprehend.
I've gotten to the point where I don't care at all about winning...too bad for the sanity.

I think it also depends on the team too, because this thing can clearly dish out the damage but struggles to take it in return.

Good stuff, but keep your dpm up on cruisers 13:28 - 13:50 no guns firing would be the missing link on the victory.
Agreed, but I can't point the finger, I only wish I could play half as well as he did for most of the game.

Biggest problem I have is maxing out my AA and never seeing a carrier. Adjust a commander or module and all of a sudden they’re everywhere.
Oh yeah I had 99 aa and was being hit my carriers left and right so I upgraded aa all the way and haven't seen a single carrier

Its weird that i never be able to get any citadel hits on this thing, even if i aim correct 😂
D7p is fun! It's different but i like it.

With a twist yes
Kind of, but with a unique fire-starting gimmick.
Hi
Hello there
Until they nerf hanger regen rates, and restore the catapult fighter back to its pre-update strength, this game is FUKT
Also, that Asashio player shoulda been well on his way outta proximity to the impending belfasts well before the carrier died. Loss is on him dying
Probably. I think he played quite well up til that point. He helped me with that cap and flank like someone who knew what they were doing.

If I wanted to play realistic WW2 game, I would play ultimate admiral dreadnought. And you are the infinitely small minority.
Obviously they changed the way shells look now when you fire your main guns, atrocious looking smh.
