Lapis by itself actually just means stone in Latin. Without the lazuli being part of it I think it makes sense for her not to be blue, even with our common association to it. I think it just meaning stone relates to her character too, not being a precious gem. Her insecurities of being a commoner among nobility.

As a french native, it's not my first ride on a Japanese game that references french things there and then .... but Engage is truly on another level haha
Of course, I had noticed most of it before watching this video but admittedly didn't give it as much thought so it was interesting to watch nevertheless. THAT BEING SAID, I'm slightly skeptical at the whole "Firenese people are named after fashion brands"... it feels very .. cheap... like all those names are real and existed as such before brands, I'm sure there are countless important people of renown that bear these names and given that they seem to want to look for poetic, deep-ish meanings behind the names they pick... I'm just a bit surprised that the Firenese would be glorified product placements (or hommages if I'm being nice).

Perhaps there are specific figures, but I feel like getting the entire bunch together would be a stretch. Is there really a famous historical Chloé? Maybe, but I guess I'd have to look into it. I do know it does seem Alfred was also named after Alfred the Great, considering his ailments

Great video, and great editing. I see you're very careful about quoting your sources in the description, which is uncommon among content creators and it's admirable. As an Italian, I immediately noticed that Solm characters were references to our desserts, and it was really funny haha. I made a post about them on Twitter in February which went viral, but I can't tell if the Wiki added that info later or not - probably just for Bunet and Seadall, but I don't really care either way. Just a minor correction: Panettone isn't a pudding, but a type of bread generally eaten around Christmas. It can be served with ice cream on top, but it's not that common and it is indeed just soft bread. Thank you for listening and keep up the great work

    Fun fact:
"Lumera", in Italian indicates the fuse of a candle, the one that catches fire and emits light. In an Italian dialect the "lumera" is a vulgar woman compared to the fuse of a candle, the "lumera" in fact, which "lights up".

I would also like to add to this wonderful video that "Alear" is, also, a Spanish word. It means "to alloy", or basically to merge two metals together to form another one.

Another - coincidence? On learning from their support convo that Ivy and Hortensia were but half-sisters, I was reminded of a real-life king H- with two daughters by different mothers, the elder having a short name -y, and the younger a much longer one of four syllables. Henry VIII of England and his daughters, Mary and Elizabeth Tudor. Most of us have little idea what the first was like as a person, knowing only that she was a pious Catholic whose reign was marked by the deadly persecution of protestants (in a reversal of her father's politics); the latter often portrayed as a petite, intriguing (in both senses) woman in wide skirts.

    Some German additions:
Diamant and Saphir are the German words for Diamond and Saphire
"Madeline" has a weak German connection. Our name for girl is "Mädchen", and in some dialect it comes down to "Mädl", or even "Mädlein" - the latter spoken like, well, "Madeline". However, this is such an antique and regional term, used only by the elderly today, that it's a very very far out stretch. Then again, you found that very far out connection, so... all's possible.
Also, Calney, or especially Carney, *might* be a reference to Carneol. A reddish gemstone.
