This method can give some text aliasing effects. There is a better way to fix this at the TV end. Go to Settings > Picture > Aspect Ratio > Just Scan, and set it to "On". This will remove the TV's default overscan and give 1:1 pixel mapping for the best picture. I have the 48" version of the same set. Most sets have a similar option, though the exact name varies a bit between brands.
Thanks, I spent so much time on this you really helped me out
Thanks dawg
Helped instantly! Thank you so much!
Hat’s off to you, saved me loads of time
Actually got my problem solved in seconds with this post thanks a lot! 🤝
Thanks so much for this. For some reason my monitor has the alignment option locked, and I've been struggling for about a day trying to figure out how to not have the edges of my screen cut off. I found this video and fixed it in like 30 seconds. I was so grateful, I logged into youtube so I could like and post this comment. Thanks so much! This is not easy to find without some help!
If I get this issue in the future, this video will help me. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hey, Brian!! Thanks for this!! I did experiment with it before on my TV. I also follow guides for the exact TV model that give you suggestions on what your settings should be at. For the purpose of this video, they recommend that Overscan on the TV should be left off. But this is still good advice for people who want to get their display just right.
That said: if you prefer Overscan left on, try these:
1. If you have an older Intel card and the Intel Graphics Control Panel, go to the Display, the first option you should see.
2. Next, make sure that Select Display is set to your external monitor. Then choose Customize Aspect Ratio. Then you go from there. Make a note of which percentages you decide on should things get changed. I'm on an older card that hasn't been updated since 2017, but it still does the job.
I hope that helps!!
half of your video helped and half of my mind helped. BTW thanks
Saved my life. I bought this Wireless HDMI adapter to use with a projector and I thought I had gotten a faulty one. Thanks a lot.
Just bought a new system and this has been a lifesaver. Tried other methods but this is by far the best and the easiest. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. I have no other words. Subscribed.
Thanks so much for this video, was using a new tv to replace my monitor and couldn't figure out why it was clipping past the edge of the screen when in the native resolution. For anyone using an Nvidia card go to Nvidia Control Panel>Adjust desktop size>size tab>resize. After clicking that it will allow you access to the width and height sliders to bring everything into perfect view.
I had this exact problem when using a Panasonic TV years ago. I used the Nvidia control panel and enabled the Desktop Resizing at the time 🖖👍
Yeah, works on all cards
I tried an AMD card once & the software in the Catalyst to make screen adjustments is atrocious! never again. oh and some with F Intel CPU(s) might not have the Intel command center option available. So I guess there is more! you could cover 👍
@@Ratchet_effect Thank you so much this helps me too
Thank you!! Every other "help" post or video only tells me to use the default settings - DUH, those are the ones that suddenly cut off my screen, and auto calibration made it worse. Your video HELPED.
Excelent video, thank you very much. I don't know why Intel doesn't put this tool in the tray area, like it does with Arc Control. I had to search on UA-cam to find the right tool. Thanks again.
You just saved a life in 2024 Brian. Thank you so much
I had this problem recently and what you did in the video really helped
Thanks
The video was great to get this fixed. It's amazing how annoying it is to try and work with the edges cut off! The comments helped too for additional options. I ended up turning off over scaling on my second monitor completely. Thanks!
Thank you so much for showing us the Intel Graphics Command Center. There is NO WAY I would have realized I needed to download this program to help me shrink the screen. Many, many thank and good luck to you!
Thank you so so much. I recently got a monitor and my PC was all scrunched up. This really helped.❤
thank you so much that was very easy, I do use an old (year 2015), i3 6100, windows 10 on my old 720 display TV, and had to reinstall windows 10 trying to fix another error , then the sides were all cut off after it was done, this was a very simple fix, straight to the point and you spoke understandable english!
Thanks. I always hated having to do this when connecting to a new TV for the first time, and this was the first time on this laptop. Just saved movie night
it took me one day to search for the right video and now it came , when you said this problem is frustrated for some people , i was one of them , after watching this video my problem solved. I'm using dual monitor and the problem was on my 2nd screen. Thanks buddy.
This seems to actually have helped thank you brother
Literally the only video that fixed my problem. I have an Nvidia card, so had to go into geforce settings to do this, but this is literally the only way to resolve it!
It worked thanks! 70:70 custom scaling was perfect for a LG TV.
Was pulling my hair out mate, another wicked upload, cheers
I had this problem when I purchased a new monitor the scalling was off and it took me ages to find a way to fix it, Thanks for the great video Brian
GENIOUS! Been having such a hard time with this, tried for hours to fix it on my own. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Great tip! I have often encountered this issue while connecting projectors and desktop computers to TVs. Another option is to disable 'Overscan' or equivalent in resolution settings on the TV itself.
Thank you! after so many months of tutorial videos finally found the best solution that is yours.
I watched the video u gave me a hint of how to fix it and i ve fixed it without watching the vid 😂😂 thanks man very direct informative video
I like how I was searching for answer to this problem and your video came up first, and solved issue! Thanks!😎
Thanks a ton dude...I tried almost everything throughout the day available over internet...nothing works until I find out this video and it works, also that simple!!👍
Or, usually you can find a setting named Full in aspect ratio settings on your TV. On an Android TV for example, Picture > Aspect ratio > Full.
Thank yoU! I havent watched a dozen videos and non of them covered this.
Thank you sooo much. I was ready to give up on this overscaling problem.....thank you.
Thank you so much! Every other video just told me to change the resolution but you actually gave the info I needed!
I had the same problem. I solved it by changing the screen resolution to bigger than recommended then do a restart.
Then do a SCAN for a new monitor in the same page and then switch it back to the recommended resolution. It seems to be a problem when you change monitors, Windows 10/11 does not always recognise that you have changed screens. Your solution however is way cooler than mine.
I tried yelling at my computer to stop doing that but your way worked alot better.
Finally I found the correct tutorial for me. This helped a lot!
Thank you, I feel stupid now, spent ages trying to find that. I thought scaling related to something else. Thanks for upload.
Thank you! I didnt even know this was a thing. Helped a lot!
I couldnt figure this out myself!! Thank you for this video!!!!
uhhh i cant find either software do i have to download one?
EDIT: im on an Invidia system so i searched that on the bottom search bar, found the control panel, went to "adjust desktops size and position", clicked size, clicked resize, clicked save or something like that, adjusted it, and BOOM finally after 6 months of just dealing with it its fixed!
Thankyou so much !
thanks a lot works perfectly with win 10 on philips tv connected with hdmi
Worked like a charm
Thanks
sadly i don't think intel ones are working anymore because the scaling option are now basically gone, at least for my laptop, and i was trying to connecting to my tv as well.
click on the display 2 button then click scale. should be there
Thank you, my screen is so much better now
Thank you!!, i felt like i was crazy
AMD - mine doesnt have HDMI scaling as an option. it only shows GPU scaling. and thats only a enable/ disable switch
I had this problem a long time ago when I got my first TV with HDMI input, to fix it I had to use the VGA connector instead if I remember. Otherwise I had to make sure no windows were bigger than the visible area of the screen, at the time there was no way to adjust overscan/underscan via software.
Thank you very much
Thank you so much! Very helpful 👌
Thank you!! Very well made video!
Thank you so much brother it worked for me 😃😃😃💙
It's work perfectly
Thanks 👍
Thank you, tremendous help!
Wow it works! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! This fixed my issued.
thanks man you solved my problem!
thanks I just did the same on amd system , could have put it online yesterday took a good 10 mins to sus it out .People tend to forget
Thank you so much!!! This really helped
amazing video worked great thank you
This fixed my issue and saved me time!
Going into the TV's screen settings and adjusting the screen position to "fit" fixed it for me :) (Samsung TV)
Thank you! The AI and the first results on the question in Google give completely unhelpful answers. Luckily this comes up in video results. I had to move the sliders all the way to get the whole picture, actually almost the whole picture but I can live with it during my hotel stay in China where I am using their huge TV as my monitor.
Thank you so much very helpful
THANK YOU!
Thankyou so much sir 🤗🤗
can you make a tutorial about when only the one sie is cut(for example left side but not right)?
Thank you.
Thanks
Genius. Thank you so much bro ong
Thanks brother ❤❤❤🎉
thank you!!
hey so i got a fun little issue, when i go to the scaling for my display it doesn't give me a custom option, only stretched, centered, and maintain aspect ratio
try to change resolution. worked when pass from 2048x1152 to 1920x1080, custom option appeared
i have vga converter to hdmi my pc has no hdmi port and this converter is for tv and i fixed over scaling with intel graphic settings but i still have very small black line on left side of monitor any help ?
THANK YOU
when your dragging the sliders in the intel software, you can clearly see the desktop size changing in the video
This doesn't even help. All these videos of changing the display or scale requires some kind of nvidia control panel, which NOT ALL COMPUTERS HAVE. If your PC doesn't have a graphics card, this doesn't even work jeez. So unhelpful. Can't find a single video that fixes the issues
Super you fixed my problem ❤
this is great thanks
Thank you man
When I do this, the box on the screen, even at 100x100, is super tiny. It doesn't stretch for the whole screen. I tried all the settings in the TV, and none of them make it fill the whole screen. So, if I want to make the Intel graphics command centre change the display in any way, I can't make it fill the screen. If I go back to defaults, then the overscan is horrible...
Seems that Intel has updated again and this solution has become obsolete. Could you please do an updated tutorial? I can't seem to find the option for custom scaling.
There is no HDMI Scaling option for my version of AMD Adrenaline?
Tysm 👍
If only I could do this while in my laptop's Bios. I don't use the built-in display and it cuts off 1/3 of the page using my gigantic tv. Yes, LG is now my favorite display manufacturer!
my TV/PC doesnt have Intel or ADM functions, how do i do please?
Just got a new tv and It was a very slight cut off but I couldn't see the tiny line that tells you If a window Is open
thanks bri
How do you solve that issue for a steam deck?
My 14 year old LG? No problems at all. Is it just me Bri? 😮
Very helpful
Is there a way to move it more at the bottom rather than scaling it symetrically?
Above that slider there’s a button to fit to screen (full scale)
Thank u soooo mutch
Mine says “this setting is not modifiable through intel graphics command center for non-Intel adapters” what does this mean
legend. thank you
Tnq its helpful
thank you ^^
Which web browsers of edge or chrome is good?
