I bought this car stereo for my car back in 1995! I must say it was the very best aftermarket car stereo I ever owned. I'll bet most people didn't know it had a "GPS" style feature in it, that when you were traveling, you could push a button on the stereo and it would show you what city you were near or in. Awesome!
Guess what, My KEX-P820RDS still works in my car today, just the display gave out (HV unit needed solder joints refluxed) - and I have replaced the little flat cable three times already due to wear, funny thing is it always gives with a little puff of smoke. The 12 CD CDX-P2000 multi CD Player also still works - Perfectly, even with 20 year old CD-Rs. My HU model is the same as the KEH-P8200RDS but without internal amp, mine must have external amps. Plus the buttons glow orange instead of green. I have two Magnat edition four limited amps hooked up, 1200 Watts each.
for anyone with no display on this unit,see my vids on yt account,broken flexicable means no display,watch out,high voltage inside!!! flexicable avaliable on ebay ,with regards,patrick
I just put my old KEH-P9200 in one of my cars to test a SD/USB/Bluetooth adaptor I got from Ebay, but I cant remember how to activate the BUS port, can anyone let me know?
I think it could be damaged, or the faceplate connection is wrong, or the outside high voltage box is not working so good. Try to repair it. It has no option to turn it off...
