Super happy with this new part. For a cheap grinder it is twice as nice now.

Great product. Better because this video exists. Just a warning: I had to take my burr off the shaft and shave the plastic washers flat with a razor blade as they had lumps that kept it uneven no matter how hard I tried to just adjust it. Once I did that it fit perfect.

Worked great, but fair warning: The nut on my burr shaft sits much lower in the quite-tight housing than shown in the video. Needle-nose pliers can't fit in there and get a grip to loosen the nut. A 3/8" socket did the trick for me, but the housing is so tight, especially if the burr's off-center, that some sockets with thicker walls might not make it. I'd hate for someone to break their ceramic burr or wear down the corners of the nut trying to loosen or tighten it.
But in the end, great product, great instructional video, and great coffee! Thanks.

Sometimes the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is better :-)

My nut is so deep set, and so off center, the nut is actually touching one inner wall of the ceramic burr. Unfortunately I've gotta return it. Thanks for this video! It was helpful

Hi! I appreciate you putting this up, but especially for making the li'l bugger! Can we assume the reason Hario doesn't do this is because they'd have to pay an actual, human employee to waste three minutes aligning it? I had figured this out myself before I found your vid.... one thing I would add, WHEN you eventually get that _#$%^& bottom nut_ off, you can drop a washer or two in there to make the _#$%^& bottom nut_ ride higher, in case you need more humbuggery on it. And/or turn it upside down.
(Please excuse my use of the highly technical term - _#$%^& bottom nut_ ; a geek, I is.)

And Post Script - (AKA P.S.): And, do you know what ELSE? If you can get yourself enough shaft length up where the cranking handle is, a plain old LOCK WASHER up there on the handle does a real swell job of keeping the handle on. The spontaneous re-adjustment of the grind isn't a problem, because the little arms reach down through the slots (highly technical language, get a degree dude). BUT THE FUCKING HANDLE FALLS OFF EVERY TIME YOU GET ENTHUSED about gettin' your crank on. Lock washer.... My impression of "kids today" (heh, heh, cackle cackle, thud groan etc.) is that "kids today" are not normally as tinkery as us old farts who's daddy's all had HOME WORKSHOPS etc. I have met actually DEGREED ENGINEERS who didn't know how to fix a broken window! Why, back in the good old da.... oh for god's sakes THUD already! THUD THUD THUD! And _stay_ down.

I saw in the website that the kit won't fit with the Skerton pro, but can you tell me what's the difference between the consistence of Skerton with MOD and Skerton Pro?

I've bought your upgrade, but my grinders burrs don't sit inside each other like it seems they do in this video. Theres always a few mm protrusion of the lower burr, they don't sit level when pushed fully together like it seems they do in this video. Am I failing to see this in your video because of the camera angle? Or is mine defective and the burrs when left to fall inside each other sit flush across the bottom? Basically it seems the teeth don't line up perfectly

Hi Bradley, I didnt manage to adjust the center nut, its sitting way too deep and I dont have such fine pliers that could access the nut, to turn it. Do you have any solutions? Best, Jekabs

Sadly the lower bur of my grinder isn't a uniform shape and so won't evenly "rest" in the upper bur at all.

Bummer! Sounds like you got a bad grinder. I'd recommend returning it for one without defective burrs.
