I have some Great memories from the 70s & early 80s at Belle Isle Island 🏝️.. However, as in Vegas what happens on the Island stays on the Island..👊🏾👊🏾☺️‼️
Thanks SilverStrike! Hopefully people who have visited Belle Isle gain a new and interesting perspective on a place they've visited for years. I would like to revisit this effort in the summertime or fall and cover all the points of interest on the island.
The Mavic takes some great video. I see them especially in travel destination videos where you have the blue ocean against sandy beaches and vegetation covered mountains.
Nice presentation of your city. Very informative! Being able to see all these things without the need for travel, money and loss of time makes drones a wonderous vessel to share and appreciate many areas and many things. Thanks and slow that gimble down for more cinematic imaging.
Agree, drones with high quality cameras provide a whole new perspective on locations. I've been to Belle Isle many times but I have a renewed appreciation for the island now having seen it from above without the confines of a road or the water.
Thanks for stopping by Aleks! I have several beautiful Ukrainian coins in my coin collection! Here are two videos you'll find interesting: ua-cam.com/video/PN0yufvG8yM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/B_iVbXU_4XM/v-deo.html
I just got a Mavic mini and want to fly down there. Some apps say I can fly there and some say I can't because of city airport. Do you need FAA authorization to fly there? I want to fly there and many other places in Detroit as well, just want to do it legally. Great vid by the way
Do a google search for "know before you fly map". I always use this resource before flying. Areas can become no fly zones on a daily basis depending on if there is an event or not. When you look at Belle Isle you will see the areas I flew are clear, no FAA authorization required. My #1 bit of advise is practice, practice, practice flying your UAV in a local field before traveling with your Mavic. When first starting out it can be really easy to lose your bearings and not know where your drone is in comparison to where you are. Don't fly around or over large crowds. Don't fly above 400' Always maintain an awareness of your battery life and leave a generous buffer which will allow you to return safely. Avoid trees and power lines. Learn everything you can about your drone and its features to include the return to home function which can be a real life saver.
Hi the dji fly app will tell you everything you need to know about not flying all I know is the renisance building is a know fly zone. I also wouldn’t fly around the train station as it is owned by ford
Are the deer still on the island I remember feeding them by hand. I have pics of me as a little standing with a herd of them used to love going there the big huge ice that used to form also do they still have the rc hydro boat races
Here's a view of every turn as I see it come up. If you get lost, feel free to ask for more details to find it. 2:07 is a pretty good view of most of the track. Come back to this later once you get the layout. Turns 12 and 13 are there in the bottom right corner, tracing the inner shoreline. 2:11 To the left, you have the last kink of turn 14 at that circular bit and we are facing the direction the cars travel on that turn. Then there is the start/finish line (there's a little booth in the road there and to the right of that is pit road, which is defined by all the burnout marks in a big lot), and the right/left of turns 1 & 2, then the long straight that follows. 3:20 That long straight is in the distance on the left while turns 7 (the bend on the far right at the T intersection), 8, and 9 are close by, with the dark racing line clearly visible for turns 8 and 9, center of the screen. They would be heading towards you on that part of the track from this view. 4:20 The previously mentioned long straight after turn two is on the left. Turn 3 is at the first intersection that turns right from that. Turn 4 has the cars coming toward our view, heading towards the very center of the screen, where they make a left at turn 5, go over the small bridge that is closer to us and immediately into the hard right turn 6.
@@alexalopez7057 No it's not it's nice as hell this is in the beginning of winter it's super cold that's why it looks lifeless in the summer its amazing
I hung out on Belle Isle a lot in the 80s. It was not very well taken care of then. You never dared use the public restrooms. They were run down, dark, dirty, smelly, and often locked. I went back to the island about five years ago and you could actually use the public restrooms and they were clean! They have done a lot of improvements believe it or not. I think the island does have a lot of room for improvement but it’s a lot better than it used to be!
@@alexalopez7057 unless it’s been over 5+ years since you’ve been there it’s definitely not trashed. The State of Michigan took over the park and takes great care of it
Better be careful flying that near the mid-channel of the Detroit River. If you cross into Canadian airspace and across an international border with that drone the feds will come down hard on you if they see the video.

I'd so hoped to see the beautiful aquarium. That was my favorite place to go as a kid. I remember the polished brass rails and the giant gar.
I love that fountain. It's my favorite place and also the conservatory.
Fountain used to be full of shopping carts and stolen bicycles.
Thank you for this video. 🏝🧭🙏🗽🎂💃🐎🎹🎤🌶🥥🎣🦋🍾🍷😎🍯🏊♂️💛

Another great trip buddy. You did a great job showing the Pierson and the look at the top of the tower.

Awesome and fascinating video, thanks for sharing. I was trying to spot you..
Good video
Nice music. Good match to footage.
Been there 1 million times, first time seeing it from the air.
Great Work! Nice!
Just sitting here vibing to my city and these great views👍🏿
Nice vid! I can't wait to get my mavic in the sky and snag some shots of Denver (and Colorado). Thanks for sharing. 😀

Slow down the UA-cam playback speed. Makes the music better too.
I love my city look how beautiful it is
Beautiful property.
Chicago has Millennium Park, New York has Central Park, and Detroit has Belle Isle. All a wonderful resource for their citizens. 🌳🌷🐦
I love going here.
I was there 20 yrs ago and it was a Hip Hop Shixhole, very dangerous. State took over and kicked out the trash.
The range is nice
Yes, when you have line of sight with the drone it can travel long distances.
Thank you very much indeed from Ukraine !!!

Gooooood!😂😂😂😂😂
No belle ilse zoo??? The best part of the entire island?
Definitely a future video. It's hard to tell but I was freezing my ass off, especially in that high wind off the water.
Oh pls tell me the music at first love it. SoundHound no help!,,
All the music in this video came from UA-cam's free audio library: ua-cam.com/users/audiolibrarymusic?nv=1

Awsome thank you for letting me know used to go there all the time when I was a little boy.
hm so where is the race track
Good question. You're looking at it. It wraps around the fountain. Here is a map of it: detroitgp.com/assets/track-map-2019-large.jpg

You can trace it with this onboard footage that starts at turn 13. Start/finish at 0:07

I still forget Belle Isle is a street circuit
Indeed! Just this past weekend was the 2021 Detroit Grand Prix
Has this been abandoned by the city?
The zoo no longer exists, but the rest of the island remains viable.
Its trashed, not well taken care of.

This island use to belong to the city of Detroit but due to years of corruption it was sold to the state of Michigan as a state park
No, the City still owns Belle Isle, the State is administering it as a state park for the next 25 years.
