      These one are a bit of a pain in the butt, compared to your average door stops.. it takes more than just a Phillips tip. He’s just showing a hack to this style. (Although it’s easier if you just take the rubber off 😂and use you flathead tip or socket) just saying, one less step

    The better trick is to mount it on the door. That way it is out the way when cleaning and does not get broken by slamming into it with the vacuum over time.

    • @cgschow1971
      @cgschow1971 11 місяців тому

      I agree. This is how they should be installed. They are out of the way of vacuum cleaners and some situations, such as a door opening to a bathtub, tile base, or another door. We're still instructed to put them on the base, but I put them as high as possible so the vacuum head can get underneath. I don't care if they're installed on base. I charge to reinstall them when they break off.

    As a GC I have always instructed my crews to install the door bump on the door so it is not in the way of the vacuum or other cleaning tool.

      @@billybrewer2061 as a GC the ones attached to the hinges… most I have found, are pure junk. They pull the hinge pin up and out. Leave a mess of oil and metal residue.

      Yeah so being he is replacing an existing one that must have failed I’m sure the point was just the use of the tool. Not the location, style, or…. Just the tool.

    There are also some that you pull the plastic/rubber tip off of, and then you can use a screwdriver (or driver bit) on it, then put the tip back on. If you do the predrill, it really doesn't take much with hand driving it though.

      Hinge pin stops destroy the hinges. I get too many callbacks and repairs for other people's installations. I wouldn't put them on a door of a client that I didn't like. Because I would have to deal with them again.

      Due to the massive leverage available on the hinge bump stops, I have seen them poke holes in the hollow core doors and tare up hinges. I have replaced them with spring type door stops. The spring type stop is the best way to go in humble experienced opinion.
