This was where the championship battle was in 2003, in the Busch Series. While Matt Kenseth had a clean and consistent record over in the Cup Series, the 2003 Busch Series championship was hotly contested with about 5 drivers within contention to win it. It was a battle of veterans and youth and you could run this race about 5-10 times and I think you'd have a different winner every time.
Busch and Trucks had GREAT title bouts over the weekend meanwhile Matt Kenseth's slow and steady approach inadvertently got him the title multiple weeks before even if he had a huge points collapse in the final 7 or so races.
What a championship race. Bobby Jr. needed one better race during the season, and he mighta won it. The Team Marines car was fast at the end of the year.
Danny Scott from Busch beer says Brian what a finish! On behalf of Busch beer. I like to congratulate you and Hendrick motorsports and the #5 car for winning the 2003 nascar Busch series championship. Congratulations!
correct, it was a few years after this that NASCAR just started allowing "X" sets per weekend and could be used whenever. If you go back as far as 1992, there were some races that changing tires was prohibited...
What a beauty. Just look at that Pontiac and Ford. Why NASCAR assholes had to destroy something like that. This newer generations never even watched these races, that's why they don't know what real racing is.
This was when kasey kahne was starting as a rookie driver in the nascar busch series. This was kasey kahne's first busch series race. This was kasey kahne's first time winning in the nascar busch series.

Running this season in NR2003, I was #10 car. Loved that scheme.
I just discovered now that the Larson paint scheme we have today is an udpated version of the Brian Vickers one lol
This was a Championship. Not Playoff Rubbish!!
5 Brian Vickers
With the caution tire rule, it only limited caution tire changes correct? Green flag pitstops didn't factor in that number.

I thought Kahne was a rookie in 2002, driving the #98 car.
Kasey Kahne was a rookie in 2002, not 2003.
@@CoolNala It is 2002.
