I'm a bit hard of hearing but picked up something about the affidavits but was still unclear as to their purpose. Was it good for Souths or bad, can you help me out please as to their relevance

All clubs competing in the season 2000 competition signed affidavits stating that Souths coming back would hurt their businesses financially - with the exception of Canterbury and Newcastle who indicated it wasn't proper to forward affidavits - and the Cowboys who felt there was no need to, however only because enough clubs had already done so.

@@raymondpulham2583 The affidavits were submitted to support the NRL's decision to exclude Souths from the competition. Eleven of the fourteen competing clubs provided affidavits declaring their businesses would be financially harmed by South Sydney being reinstated. Their affidavits submitted as evidence, significantly weighed against the club's injunction bid.

The bullying of Super League was disgusting, they bought off the ARL clubs forcing them to merge and setup criteria to keep in Super League Clubs.

The criteria at the end of the day was to reduce the number of Sydney clubs, nothing more. If you look at the criteria set out, all regional teams and the likes of Brisbane, North Queensland, Auckland were all exempt from it. And all the Sydney clubs who were in that Super League season in 1997 are still around today.

@@RugbyLeagueHistory Neil Whittaker also stated that the Bears were safe because the Central Coast was considered regional. Then backflipped and pushed for the NE merger.

Not 100% sure but I seem to recall that the only side that didn't sign the injunction were the Dogs? Always had a soft spot for the Dogs since then...the rest can burn in hell.

I am unaware of that but I know for a fact St. George wrote a letter to the NRL stating that if South Sydney were allowed back into the competition that it would be detrimental to the NRL.
