I’m pretty sick at the moment and I have almost zero capacity to speak, but while watching this I was overcome with a calming happiness that brought a tear or two to my eye. My roommate walked in and asked what I was watching upon seeing this and I pointed at the screen and clicked the play button so he could see the video duration and he just smiled and walked away :)
The fact that this brick was able to put run every GT car and some LMP cars by simply having a big fuck off V8 that has all of the horsepower is hilarious and the most American thing I’ve ever seen in racing
Y'know what the funniest part of it was? It wasn't that much faster in terms of top speed than the GTE cars thanks to the stupid amount of drag from the front and rear dive planes. It gained almost all of its time in slow speed corners and acceleration zones because it had a stupid amount of mechanical grip and low-end torque.
It was interesting to see how much better Button and Rockenfeller drove than Johnson. Much deeper into the braking zones, letting the car run off of corners, and appropriate amount of curb. I know Johnson can drive, but those two can REALLY drive.
Both Rocky and Button are circuit racers at heart, while Johnson is an Oval specialist. It was also Johnsons first time at LM. They weren't racing anyone, so why push more than what you're comfortable with?
Cool video. The G56 car seems to get overtaken by a lot of cars, which I get given its got roughly same hp as rest, but carrying 300 KG extra and no downforce (relative), but the reliability of that V8 is a telling factor, plus the sheer noise (awesome!), very cool! Great result where the car finished ....
The G56 car was faster than the GTE's by a huge amount, slower than the LMP2's and obviously slower than the hypercars. Reliability was incredible i thought it would of died after a few hours.
