Stop it. Just stop.
The delivery of the “why” is comedy gold
i realized what he was doing immediately, but still rewinded to hear it thrice
Honestly I thought he would just be a sentient pyramid
and i think you are an Italian plumber
"Would you play this game alone?" Is the best definition of what a let's play is from the past and today. Most games that let's plays play are commonly the current popular games or the newer games that most of the public don't have the money for, which, you have stated.
I like to think let's play are a better outlet for people that want to see gameplay of a game, (especially the newer games) but not buy it just yet. It can give people an idea of the game with it either be boring, frustrating, or fun for the first few minutes of the game.
Have you and Curious Archive ever considered doing a collaboration? You have such a similar style, topic choice, and voice it seems natural
I would love that, maybe they should also include think potato
@@thesplendidallay6846not entirely sure but i think they all got the same nebula brand deal, so while they may not collab, theyll certainly imply they will with the whole "me and a bunch of other creators (flashes a bunch of other channels on screen)" schpeal is the best youll get
Dougdoug shout outs are always awesome, one of the most creative streamers out there.
The documentary was on point as always and the comparison with Markiplier's smash or pass list with Citizen Kane was hilarious, keep the high effort vids going Judge!
its not games about cubes but its a video about a square
Congrats on being on nebula: very well deserved
What a handsome individual
a well-kept young lad
i actually really liked the vibe of you talking to us all chill on the couch as an intro, would be interested in more calm face cam stuff sprinkled in videos. Also damn bro's handsome.
I like your content and perspective.
You could also argue there's another layer to this stuff: VODs and more specifically, highlights of streams. I often watch VODs of certain people who stream (most notably Joseph Anderson playing just about anything and DarkViperAU doing Chaos GTA "speedruns") and all of what you said about streaming applies except I'm watching what happened after the fact, never participating in the streams but enjoying it all regardless. And some VODs are highly edited as well, so they kinda loop back around to how lets plays are made now, except it feels like even more people contributed to the gaming experience. Idk if what I said made sense but I think it's neat to think about.
Also since you mentioned Undertale, I wish you talked about the bit where the game, aware of this phenomenon where people will watch Let's Plays of the game, calls out people who watch UA-camrs do the Genocide Route, with Flowey saying "At least we're better than those sickos that stand around and WATCH it happen... Those pathetic people who want to see it, but are too weak to do it themselves. I bet someone like that is watching right now, aren't they...?" I'm not sure how you would've fit it into the video but it's just one more reason why I love Undertale so much.
also also you typing with only your index fingers gives me pain haha. Guess you can't be blamed though.
Hyped for nebula posting now as well
Another goddamn classic by this man
I find it absolutely wild that a streamer or youtuber can play the darkest, saddest, most horrific game, but can make jokes for the entire time, and change the perceived genre for the audience. When people think fnaf, they don't think "being scared of monsters", they think "laughing at other people (markiplier and such) being scared of monsters". Big difference
Neat video, these type off calm videos we’re you just talk to the camera for some time are always amazing for me, feels like me and a friend just sat and started talking for hours
Oh no he's hot
Wowzers! Glad to see you expanding into new avenues. You've come very far
4:24 I love how this segment was like "yeah NL's not really good at any game, but he's good at talking!" lmao
hey let's go you didn't have a creepy unsettling face reveal like dream! thanks for that man. also out of all the face reveals i've seen this is one of the ones that i'm the most glad the reveal turned out to be. you look fresh as hell!
How can you write something like this and not feel like the bad guy for being part of the crowd that was so fucking mean to a guy for the way he looks?
Like, nobody can control their body's development. Judgemental dick.
Congrats on joining Nebula! Very much looking forward to watching that waterfalls video later today when I have more time :>
As a kid, I really loved going over to a friend and watching him play Tomb Raider or Duke 3D on his playstation. He often asked me if I wanted to play but I was like nah I just love to watch. Then he'd come over and watch me play through Max Payne (and yes I was waaay too young for Max Payne).
IM SO HAPPY YOU GOT A NEBULA SPONSORR DUDEEEE OMG THATS SO GOOD FOR YOU, IVE BEEN FOLLOWING SINCE 50K YOUR SHIT IS AMAZING
Thank you Kaden, lol
Congrats on the Nebula gig!
I feel like a channel that has retained its true nature is Manlybadasshero. He has never really changed his style of content or his delivery, and that I can respect
Honestly, you and Jacob are the reasons I'm excited to check Nebula when I get some cash in!
i’m surprised you didn’t actually have a blue pyramid with googly eyes for a head
Congrats on the nebula partnership dude! Love your work 😊
I absolutely LOVE the nod to Over the Garden Wall! It's almost time for our annual watch!
4:05 I do the exact same. Especially with Over the Garden Wall like you show. It’s a annual tradition for me in October.
This is an outstanding take on the social dynamics of play in modern games entertainment. Very insightful.
I absolutely love your videos. They're always very entertaining. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to seeing even more of your fantastic stuff.
The influence of early let's players is incredibly large. It's hard to imagine what modern gaming content would even be without them.
I'd be interested to see your waterfall video as it's something I always look for in games, but I tried nebula and found I just didn't watch it enough to make it worthwhile.
Pog! That's truly the first time I see a pic of you :^) (very nice vid as always)
0:04 this is absolutely too hilarious, Judge. I have no clue why I think it's *that* funny, but great work
I relate to it ngl
Streaming giving access to two way interaction has had an interesting effect with viewers being able to effect the game on major paths while the player has subtle decisions. Heck, I know some streamers like AstralSpiff actually let viewers remotely control his game through chat commands, which was a very cool concept as the streamer became the viewer while dozens of people where playing the game by spamming the chat :)
Phenomenal video - I liked the part where you mentioned me ❤
Oh lol, hey Scott. As I said, I enjoyed your video quite a bit. Thanks for stopping by.
You look great! Congrats on Nebula, and banger video too.
Fantastic guy. Fantastic essay.
love your channel!
A game meant to be streamed that I enjoyed was a game called the Darwin project where groups of 2 players where placed in a winter arena where you had to chop trees destroy furniture and kill deers to craft your equipment and make fires to keep yourself warm while a director spectated the match after some time he would be allowed to close zones on players to start forcing players to move together and fight but there was another twist if the game was being streamed then viewers could vote for or against who they where watching to get rewards or hindrances while the director could allow viewers to vote on his actions rather then him choosing. This created a really interesting system where people where fighting in game and viewers where fighting their streamer or the other streamers/players to make their streamer lose or help them win. I really enjoyed it but it shit down after a few years.
18:46 Video games sure are art! Great video again and congrats on your presence on Nebula!
WOOO nebula time. see you there!
BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wasnt expecting that face reveal good video as always keep it up
Ugh thank g-d a new video I needed this
When I lived with my best mate, I would often watch him play a game (sometimes making gameplay suggestions). Afterwards, I always felt like I'd experienced the game and didn't need to play it for myself.
Well I really enjoyed Turbo Dismount back in the day.
Another banger, keep em coming
This video reminds me of a conversation that a buddy of mine and I had a while ago. We were talking about early UA-cam and how many UA-camrs (Such as Mark, Pewds, and Jack) paved the way for the let’s play genre. One game that I was kind of hoping would get referenced would be Gartic Phone, due to its Jackbox nature. Something about adding a drawing to a prompt and guessing what said drawing is adds a sort of fun to it. My friends and I are horrible artists, and the games usually look like a group of preschoolers tried their best to draw an interpretation of a conversation they overheard from some teenagers. Anyways, the video was spectacular as always and I’m pleased to know that your face matches your voice :)
lets plays remind me of when my friends would watch me play games and have me explain how to get from part A to B and so on.
I love when Cursed Judge was playing that one racing game with the user made tracks and went "This is more cursed than a judge!"
You look great!
15:52 should be a third circle around two intersecting ones with a streamer in it. So basically a streamer is a guide for audience to interact with a game
The mention of DougDoug was a surprise to be Sure, but a welcome one
Your videos are so good
The whole little comment about turbo dismount user-made levels making up most of the entertainment made me think of something else:
Being misled because of things “not regularly available” in video games. I remember being PISSED when I was younger because none of the unique stuff like custom maps and mods from Minecraft Java was in the pocket or console editions at the time, and how the user-made levels from Turbo Dismount for PC weren’t available for other device versions because of steam workshop limitations. I would’ve never discovered them if they weren’t showed off by lets-play youtubers as well!
Computers were unknown to me at the time, so I thought of them as the ultimate expensive device that could do and play anything. I then got a cheap laptop that ran worse than a Chromebook a few years later, realized that computers are complicated as shit and are NOT like PS3s but cooler, and cried my stupid spoiled child ass to bed.
Anytime I hear a NL shout out, I gotta drop a fat like.
I've been a fan of him since shortly after Rebirth came out, so I like to sneak him in where I can.
Great video, but I do have one objection.
I never knew Turbo Dismount was a streamer game until today. I discovered it on the app store when I was younger and I played it, alone, for DOZENS of hours. Even bought the DLC. Loved causing glitches and making high scores. The game was just wacky enough to be therapeutically fun.
yooo love to see the exitebots clips goated game
A good opinion on Jackbox, Trivia Murder Party is the goat
I am so thankful for the doug doug plug.
Ayy the NL name drop
2:13 19:03
I appreciate the MX Vs ATV Unleashed representation :D
This picture of bull on the wall is sick
When you look into the(void/another 1?),it stares back.
actual favorite youtuber
I CARED about my turbo dismount score... when I was like, 11. And when it was actually the mobile original, Stair Dismount.
I was in the top 100 high scores in that Halloween level with the cool music :( (Eye Lord - A Waiting Chamber)
hello man good to see you
Wow... You're face is not bad! You're a very good guy!
fascinating video!
YALL WAKE UP CURSED JUDGE POSTED
Me: Subscribes to any UA-camr who makes long form content
UA-camr: Thanks to Nebula....
over the garden wall !!!
DOUGDOUG MENTIONED
There might be a new type of streamer / viewer interaction game soon
Nice IKEA yak picture bro
OHHHH ONION RING ITS THAT THING THAT EVERYBODY-
This video explains a lot of what I've seen on the one twitch streamer I watch.
I haven't even watched the video but I know it will be a banger
Welcome to Nebula, my guy
bro is utterly and completely majestic
I'll never forget when (about 20 years ago) we were hanging out at a friend's house trying to find something to watch on tv and there was a review of game but we thought it sjust howed someone playing. We pissed ourselves laughing imagining that being the show. "Dude, we should have /our nerd friend/ play Starcraft and kids could call in like 'Put down a Ziggurat' and they would cheer him on."
I thought this was a stream qt first. The title would be perfect for a stream
Well a bwtter title would be games are meant to be streamed
Ah yes, now I can finally see the face of the man who gave me depression through videos. 10/10 would love to see you again.
man i love jerma
i used to play turbo dismount for hours and hours, but then again i was about 13 years old so my mind enjoyed just watching a doll crash into walls
3:30 "I like watching other people play video games." Someone's finally said it, let's goooo!
INTERACTIVE BUDDY
i love you and your channel
Northernlion mentioned? Brother, I’m pogged
I suck at certain types of games but I still want to enjoy the story. Also Minecraft SMPs.
*Is that a Highland Cow on your wall?*
7:08 someone has never watched failrace's turbo dismount series
DOUGDOUG MENTION
People want to belong and feel like they have an impact. Streaming is a great tool for that. But for me, a game is like a relationship. You experience it on your own, and maybe talk about it with some close friends, that have similar experiences. That being said, I enjoy watching react content. Once you get all those people interacting, you're not playing anymore, you're a presenter for a game show. The concept as you showed is not new.
Idk why I feel like I’ve seen your face before it’s like I already knew
Cool face 👍
