Don’t worry about the big surf thing. Some people are just wired that way! Both my older brothers love big surf but me, not so much. Looking forward to some edits soon!

Your support means so much to me mate, will be more edits coming soon when the weather/waves clear up and our collab is definitely on the UA-cam schedule this year 🙏🏽
I get it now about not wanting to tell anyone about your surf spots. Makes so much sense. I do the same thing with my special spots! Keep up the good work! Yeeew!
Dude you're a legend. Still bummed I haven't run into you in the surf. My mate Nelly and I have a running joke where anytime we see a dude ripping we exclaim "is that Noz!?" One day we're gonna be right. Also if you're ever intimidated by big waves, try going out on a bodyboard instead. As a bodyboarder who learnt to surf when I was 17, I didn't have a lot of fear of bigger waves, as bodyboarding is easier to make the drop/take off, so I was always super confident in making the wave. Bodyboarding a bunch of local reef and slabs probably helped too. I think this just helped me feel more at home in bigger surf when I transitioned more to surfing. Also, don't worry I still piss myself on the heavy days too haha
Hahaha thank you so much! That is absolute gold about that joke 😂 I hope to see you out there someday soon. And thank you heaps for the advice, that’s actually a really good idea. Super grateful for the kind words mate 🙏🏽

Amazing video Noah. Thanks for being open about your fear of drowning/panic in big waves. I am exactly the same. I was surfing in France this year, and the waves were probably 1 meter tall. I took so many fun waves, but when the bigger set came and I had to go under, I released my oxygen by accident because the wave had come with tremendous force. It felt like I was down there for 20 seconds. That big set must have been 1.5 - 1.7 meter max and I had a panic attack. My breathing got rapid, and I got out to have a breath. I was with my dad and our friends but I still didn't feel ok. Even though the water was shoulder depth I had to stop.
Thank you so much Jayden! And I appreciate you opening up and sharing that story too. It’s crazy what our minds can do to us. The ocean is beautiful and sometimes scary place, it’s almost like it’s trying to remind us how powerful it can be sometimes. Glad you’re okay mate. We will work our way up one surf at a time 💪🏽
Heaps of good surf tutorials on UA-cam and have always loved your’s the best. But after this video, I have much more respect for you. Thank you for this.
I can relate to anxiety and panic in the water. When I first started I dreaded the first duck dive and being under water. I feel comfy now in waves 4-5 foot but I really love the 2-3 foot playful fun days. Ocean has helped me with anxiety because when you are out there, you can’t panic. You have to hold it together to paddle back in. But I respect that you have a wave size limit. I do too. Surfing isn’t fun when it’s scary. Cheers 🤙🏾
It’s so nice to know I’m not the only one. Thank you so much for the supportive comment man, 100% agree we have to respect the ocean and keep our cool under pressure. 2-3ft is the sweet spot for fun 🙌🏽

Noah, just came over to this vid on your recommendation about epoxy boards Vs PU so thanks for that. I've gone with an EPS dhd phoenix with swallow tail so looking forward to surfing that. Just a quick bit of advice as it's helped me, I'm 37 and randomly started getting real bad anxiety in certain situations (sometimes surfing when the waves are bigger sometimes when im driving etc) I've started doing a lot of breathing exercises and training to hold my breath longer it helps with feeling more comfortable in uncomfortable situations whatever they may be. Keep up the good work ripper
Hey Rich. I think that’s the right choice. You’ll have so much fun on that board 🙌🏽 I really appreciate the advice about anxiety, it’s nice to know I’m not the only once who gets affected by it 🙏🏽 I’ll definitely look into some breathing techniques and start practicing. Thank you legend 🤝🏽😄
Mate, I’m 40 and when i was a teen, i got smashed on the inside at a local beach. It was probably only a few foot of storm surf, but it felt huge to me and gave me a real fright. I’ve just got back into it after about 10 years barely surfing, and anything over 2metres (which is overhead for me) i assess the conditions very carefully before going out. Not everyone needs to be a big wave Surfer, and people shouldn’t be embarrassed when they admit their limitations. Surfing is about having fun.
I can definitely relate to being scared of big waves, if i go out in surf any bigger than 5 ft i start to freak out. But thanks for another awesome video cant wait to see stuff more frequently🤙🤙🤙

Great video man! If you want to face your limits in bigger waves you should really try apnea training! It helped me so much to mantain calm and be confident in rough conditions. You rip brother, congrats on the channel and cheers from south brazil
6 foot is basicly 1.8 m which is pretty tall but here in the meditarenian we get 3 meter waves all winter sometimes even summer and im surprised cause Australia has the pacific and we have a closed sea , anyway great vids found you today and have been watching all day keep it up
Hey mate, thank you so much for the kind words!! So stoked you’re enjoying my videos 😅 Yeah when I measure waves I’m calling a 3ft wave 1.8M face. As in Australia we measure from the back of the wave (which we say is half the face) so 2-3ft is chest to slightly overhead even though it would be between 4-7ft faces haha so random 😂
Hahaha you made it broooo!! Toledo’s by a mile, but I’ve only tried like 4 different models so can’t confirm they’re the best until I’ve ridden the rest
Great video. I made some enemies I think by exposing where I surf. They are very public beaches so I didn't think it was a big deal, but some people are very sensitive and need to blame someone for why they aren't having fun. Live an learn I guess. LOL Keep it up and really enjoying your vids.
btw, I don't think there is a need to surf big waves if you don't like it. You don't need to prove anything to anyone, even yourself. Besides, I personally don't have fun in "big" waves. To me it's like riding a motorcycle. You can ride one and enjoy the scenery, but no need to prove how fast you can go. Also, BIG is relative. You likely surf waves that are considered big for others and small for a very few. Just be you, brotha.
@@ThomyeSurfs thank you so much for the kind words brother! I’ve been highly advised to keep it low key even though they’ve ran a CT comp at one of the spots haha, sucks you had to learn the hard way but you’re so right, they just want someone to blame 🤷🏽♂️ That means a lot about the big wave stuff so thank you bro! Guess I’m not wired like others, but would be awesome to push myself (cautiously) and see how big I can go. Just checked out your channel mate, really awesome content (I subbed 🤜🏽)!! Mate I my mate saw you in the line up at ****** beach Bigger waves aren’t for everyone personally im ok with them but it’s great to see a Q and A yewwwww
Ayeee were you the grom who came up to me? Yeah 100%, stoked you enjoy them. Just personal preference for everyone. Glad you liked the video mate. Thanks for asking some good questions 😅
Cool man. i have transitioned from surfing sloppy waves to extremely fast reef breaks. Do you have any ideas of how to get my legs less stiff? because i can do simple turns and i know all the body movements out of water but they never seem to click in the water. thanks
Thanks mate. Do you have a surf skate? If not, they’re a great investment for your surfing. Can definitely help loosen you up and get that flow. And just so I can understand a bit better, are you stuff throughout the whole ride or just when you’re doing turns?
@@SurfingWithNoz mainly throughout the whole ride and when I’m pumping. I don’t have a surf skate but I’m planning on getting one soon. I’m trying to use a normal skateboard but the reaction to my leg movements are incredibly slow because out of the water I have most movements. The only thing I am wondering about is do I have to lean my whole body into the bottom turn or, just do I have to put pressure on my toes and does it automatically make the board off Centre. Thanks mate
Hey, I’m sorry I don’t name or really talk about the the specific locations in the videos- I explain it all in the video. Thank you for understanding! 😊🤙🏽 PS: the sandbanks are constantly changing so some spots might be crap one week then pumping the next. Best to get a surf forecast app like Surfline and check the cameras 🤙🏽
hey i got the same fear with big waves because when i was about 10 i caught a wave about 9 feet and i just ate crap and i almost drowned and this life guard saved me
Yeah man it’s rough! Know you’re not the only one, there’s plenty of other people like us. And I’m glad you’re okay. The ocean is a beautiful but scary place 🙌🏽
100% bro. Really good question btw. I’ll definitely try it one day - I actually had the opportunity to work at my mates, dads surf factory and shape but everyone who’d worked there before told me how bad that dust and stuff is for you so that turned me away. And then I’ve kinda been like ahh I’ll leave it to the professionals to make my boards. But maybe I’ll make a video with Vibe in the shaping bay and he can give a few pointers to aspiring shapers and curious surfers 🤙🏽
In the clip when I was from 100%. But not anymore, if I was fearless and charged the goal would maybe still be alive but those guys are on another level! Like there’s 10 year olds doing bigger airs than me these days 😂
I don’t get the ego with surfing big waves. They aren’t even fun. Doing a big carve on a big wave doesn’t feel fun. Big barrels look cool but if it’s not barreling big wave riding isn’t fun whatsoever IMO
@@SurfingWithNoz I got homies that charge big waves out here all they know how to do is make a bottom turn but literally don’t know how to do a simple cutback. Like they ego me when I like to go out and practice turns on small surf when they can’t even do a turn 😂

when are we going to see a noz + josh tracy collab !?!?!?!?!
keep up the great work
Thanks so much mate!! Don’t worry we’ve been talking about this for months. It will happen this year for sure 🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@SurfingWithNoz yew cant wait
About to be 100k 🤙
CRAZY!
@ if I get you to 100k by the end of the month can I have a free coaching session 😂
Fire wires are awesome for ppl transitioning to shorter boards. Btw if it’s small do you try long boarding?
Yeah I see lots of beginner/intermediates on firewires. Thanks for sharing that with us! I rarely do, but if it’s super small I’ll take out a mini mal. Would love to get a proper longboard someday though 🙌🏽
@@SurfingWithNoz nah it was my mate eli he told me he saw you
Cool man. i have transitioned from surfing sloppy waves to extremely fast reef breaks.
Thanks mate
Hey Noz do you do any gym training for surfing?
Hey mate, good question. No I don’t, but I am definitely interested in starting some form of training that will benefit my surfing
I also like small waves, surfing is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not stressful.
Very well said brother! That’s exactly how it should be 🙌🏽
Some people just love adrenaline and surfing is a way to get that
@@RandomPerson-ln6sg 100% agree with that!
doesn't want to say where he surfs and then says it LMAO. love your vids keep it up
Hahaha I don’t surf at the beach I mentioned but guess it’s pretty close 😂😂
Thanks for the support brother!! 🙏🏽
I don’t know we’re to surf in Sydney is turimetta a good spot
Hey, I’m sorry I don’t name or really talk about the the specific locations in the videos- I explain it all in the video. Thank you for understanding! 😊🤙🏽
PS: the sandbanks are constantly changing so some spots might be crap one week then pumping the next. Best to get a surf forecast app like Surfline and check the cameras 🤙🏽
Wait is the duke you mentioned ‘duke Kelleher’?? He says he is friends with you and is my surf coach.
He sure is! Duke is a legend and rips sooo hard, you’re lucky to have him as a coach 🙌🏽
ily
I love you too 🥰
Will you do q&n again at 20k subscriber?
Maybe!! Or I’ll do something else to celebrate. Will decide when I’m closer 🤩
hey i got the same fear with big waves because when i was about 10 i caught a wave about 9 feet and i just ate crap and i almost drowned and this life guard saved me
Yeah man it’s rough! Know you’re not the only one, there’s plenty of other people like us. And I’m glad you’re okay. The ocean is a beautiful but scary place 🙌🏽
You should go surf at Jeffrey’s bay south africa
Oh yeahhh!! Would a be a dream come true 🙌🏽 one day for sure
thanks
🙏🏽 if you ever have a question! Let me know in the comments or DM me on the gram 🔥
Sick
Yew thanks mate!! 🙌🏽
wholesome content! appreciate that you don't reveal locations :)
Thank you so much bro! 🤝🏽
"Didn't get all the girls" Totally agree with that one
Hahaha facts! Definitely helps, but it’s not like they all come rushing to the shore when you get out of the surf (a man can dream 😂)
I got a question. Have you ever thought of trying to learn how to shape your own boards for fun?
Yewww
Yeww thanks Cam 🙌🏽
do you wanna be a CT surfer?
In the clip when I was from 100%. But not anymore, if I was fearless and charged the goal would maybe still be alive but those guys are on another level! Like there’s 10 year olds doing bigger airs than me these days 😂
israei
🤙🏽
You aussie
Nvm you said it
Hahaha 🤝
I don’t get the ego with surfing big waves. They aren’t even fun. Doing a big carve on a big wave doesn’t feel fun. Big barrels look cool but if it’s not barreling big wave riding isn’t fun whatsoever IMO
Yeah I get what you mean! Then you watch JJF and he just makes it look so good 😍
Some people just love the rush, me not so much haha
@@SurfingWithNoz I got homies that charge big waves out here all they know how to do is make a bottom turn but literally don’t know how to do a simple cutback. Like they ego me when I like to go out and practice turns on small surf when they can’t even do a turn 😂
