Bowie almost turned down the opportunity to appear on Crosby's Christmas show. He didn't want to do it, but his mother was a big Bing Crosby fan, and he said he did it for her.
I got hooked on Bowie as a teenager, when I first heard "Let's Dance," "Modern Love," and "China Girl." (aka, the Thin White Duke era) If she hasn't already, have Megan listen to his earlier stuff, especially "Rebel Rebel" and "Space Oddity."
I was a fan of Bowie since the Ziggy Stardust days. I remember seeing this on TV and thought it was awesome. I grew up watching Bing and many others growing up. I'm so grateful that my mom made us watch black and white films as kids.

Modern love was another big hit FOR Bowie. Very interesting story again you continue to amaze thank you for that . A Christmas story almost never made it to the big screen if not for Darren McGaven insisting it be given a chance now a classic😊
Thanks to you, I looked up the clip of these two giant talents. Wow! What a beautiful combination of two songs! Brought a tear to my eye. Thank you. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Thank you for the backstory about this collaboration. I get chills whenever I hear it. Bowie's and Bing's voices are so complimentary there. Bowie's high register harmony and counterpoint is something else. He had a richness in his voice no matter what the range. A pretty touching duet. Peace on Earth. God, we need it now more than ever. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Happy Holidays.
Great upload .. Seasons greetings from this side of the pond to you and yours .. Peace on earth sounds like a tall order going into the New Year, but we can live in hope 🤞🏻
Interesting history. I've heard Bing Crosby do, 'Little Drummer Boy', but can't remember if I've heard this version. On a side note, I've always wonder if the story about how, 'White Christmas', almost wasn't used in the movie, 'Holiday Inn'. I heard, ' Somewhere Over the Rainbow', almost wasn't used in, 'Wizard of Oz', also. Always wondered if either story is true.

One of my favorite versions of Drummer Boy
I remember watching it live. I fell in love with Bowie's voice that night.
