No fluff, no filler footage, just straight up real stuff. And with such a friendly host. It always feels as if I show up at the place of a good friend, and we enjoy the day together.
Hope you get it going again soon. I have always dreamed on having one. Many years ago a 4x4 magazine had photos of several Mogs in Moab Utah and I have wanted one since then.
Despite the engine issue, it seems like the Unimog has the advantage with lighter weight compared to the MAN. Also better approach and departure angles.
Are you sure thats not just a fuel delivery issue?? I know you keep the mog well maintained but to loose so much power in a short amount of time is intriguing. Maybe the next video could be a confirmation of its status???
I'm pretty sure it's a fuel issue, yeah :) but i haven't had the time to look into it yet. And yeah. i guess i could do a little follow-up video on that. We'll see :) Thanks for watching!
What a same that the Unimog stopped, i hope it is only fuel related issue. I thought it was burning oil a lot more then before? Thnx for sharing and keep posting, as always love to see your videos 🤗👍
I'm pretty sure it was a fuel issue, that caused it to stop. but the oil-burning is also getting worse. So i guess it's all signs, that we need to start doing rebuild videos on this one :) (Once i get some room in the workshop)
Utilizing all of the situation to best effect the Unimog was not stuck and in fact didn't even spin it's wheels getting out of the little bog. Soldier on buddy.
The Mog is "1975" but the technology is far older. 👴 Coming from the U.S. I don't really know what/when the MAN was introduced. Simple and solid has its place. A hammer from the stone age still works as a hammer today.
The Man has no portal axle like the Mog. This test is not mentioning that it is the reason the Man is getting its axle and even shaft hooked at the bottom on hills.
Hello; just love that 'mog of yours and I simply can't comprehend how the Danish Army could possibly see that MAN as a replacement; being both heavier, without front locker not to forget the lack of portal axles. A side-by-side comparison in much, much heavier terrain would definately better show the obvious shortcomings of the MAN. Just curious as I observe it has a front PTO - where all Danish Army spec 'mogs euipped with PTO, also did they have any hydraulics? And for how long did the Army keep their 'mogs?
Thanks! :) There were several reasons they endend up replacing the 416 Unimog, with the MAN. The main reason for getting rid of the Unimogs, were mostly due to safety consers. The 416 Unimog, really was an old design, (in terms of safety) even by 80's standards. combining that with inexperienced young recruits driving them, ended in a number of accidents. I can't say they all had, but must did have a front PTO. It was used to power a mechanical winch, that most of them had, as well. But they were not fitted with hydraulics. (A few might have had, if the were meant for a specific task) Most of the 416 Unimogs were bought around 1975. and most of the were fased out, by 1990. But a few of thm were still in service for some special tasks, up untill the late 2010's And the main reason they were replaced with the MAN 8. was due to the cost. At the time, the Army was facing some big budget cuts. and the MAN was simply a much cheaper alternative to newer unimogs. And on top of that, it could carry more weight,/People. so on paper, it might have looked very good. (Not to say that is a bad truck. it's just not a Unimog :) But, later one, the army did start buying unimogs again. And they are still using several, newer types of unimog, today.
NOOOOOOOOoooooOOOOOooo ......well that is crappy but the MAN is newer and it is heavier; The MAN's articulation was good seems like a formidable fig BUT THE MOG IS JUST KOOLER!!! ...just proves you are right it needs an overhaul >>>letsss goooo>>>> it did sound like THE MOG was starved for fuel. still loved it great show!!!
Yeah, i'm also pretty sure it wasn't getting it's fuel. So yeah, i'm thinking we shoud start doing re-build videos on this one. once i get some room in my workshop :)
I have experience of driving both Unimog (1300L) and the MAN (8.150 FAE). The Unimog is a much better off road machine (and on road for that matter). But the MAN is still a very, very capable machine. The one I drove a lot had front and rear lockers and 14.50R20 tires. Air it down, fit it with chains, then when the going got realy tough, force the engine down to around 300 rpm, and it would simply log along. When you could buy 2-3 MAN's for the price of one Unimog, well, the Unimog was simply just not worth it. I understand the Army well.
Great Video guys! I love SnowRunner, such an awesome game... I set up a wheel / pedals to play it with. What do you think of the way they handle the gears these days? Better or worse than MudRunner? I sort of miss the manual experience but SR is still a much better more polished game now. Thanks again, all the best!
The gear shifting now, is a lot more like that in the original "Spin-tires" But to be honest, i only really shift them, in some tricky situations. otherwise i usually just leave it in auto :) Thanks for watching!
comparing the 416 to that way underdeveloped VW-MAN is pretty useless. the development budget on the VW-MAN was zero , and it performs pretty okay considered the handycap of being so cheap
Arb doesn't make lockers for these, also the man is the only one without a front locker. Some models of the MAN came with a front locker but they are hard to find, especially as an axle replacement and not as a full truck. (Most of the fire trucks had a front locker and the military trucks didn't.)
Awesome! Please allow me the comment. I am kind of experienced in this and think you should know. How you look in your selfie shot is waaaaaay more professional, cool and beautiful than you might think. I see an amazing video. Perfectly structured and presented. But when I see you, I see that you have no idea how awesome you actually are. My advice. More explanations with you in in of some kind of working bench where you can put your hands on or hold/show things. As blend in when you - for example - remove an air filter and want to show the air filter in detail. Go to a work bench. Position the camera behind the work bench so the bench and you are both fully visible. Then forget the camera and explain me - and educated idiot who has no idea about anything you do - what you are doing. These clips will give you a - more confidence in you which you deserve because you have freaking talent and b) create a studio atmosphere. But anyway. You do an amazing channel. Expect more comments from me. :-D
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate all your positive comments! And also, i get your idea. :) i don't currently have a work-bench setup that would work for shots like that. but still, i'll keep it in mind. Also, i know what you mean about the confidence. it has taken a lot of me, to put my self on camera more. as i have never been used to "Expose" myself like that. but can can feel that my confidence with it, grows over time. so it's not a bad thing :) But still, my main idea was to focus more on the vehicles and things i was doing, rather than myself. :)

Smiling when you are getting pulled out of a mud hole is the sign that you were having a great time regardless of the problems!

@@KJOff-Road haha I as well have the same problem about space in the workshop😊 Looking forward to see the 421 finished 😁

Really enjoyed this, shame about the mog tho!
I had a 73 turbo charged 406 unimog with a full ag gearbox and tires…thing was pretty good offroad for sure

Yes! :D It will probably end up with it's own "Build Series" ... Whenever i can make some room for it, in the garage :)

Ein Unimog wird gebaut, das er überall durch kommt, man kann ihn mit nichts vergleichen, eben schwäbische Ingenieurs Kunst!
Watching your video, I can smell the diesel fumes !
did you say 8 ton(MAN)..wow..looks are deceiving...anyway..glad to see a new video..
The 8 ton designation, refers to it's maximum weight. the truck itself, weighs just under 5 ton. giving it just over 3 ton load capacity :)
Both are good trucks

10:00 Engine doesn't sound right. Mufflers?
Now you had to fix another Unimog
Has anyone contacted you about using your video for advertising, nothing like real world testing/ towing the competition. thanks for the video.
Not any vehicle makers, no.
i'm not at all big enough for that. :)
The MoG still handles better with a blown seal or injector than the Man lol
You guys need Ural, 4320 preferably
Would love to have one of those! :)
Ural trucks are beasts, alternatively it could be a Kraz 255.
A Gaz 66 or Sadko would be more direct rivals to the unimog or the man.
comparing the 416 to that way underdeveloped VW-MAN is pretty useless. the development budget on the VW-MAN was zero , and it performs pretty okay considered the handycap of being so cheap
MAN towing UNIMOG - I had to skip that part as I couldn't watch!
please put an ARB air locker to one of your vehicles
They’re both have front and rear lockers standard
Ah the man does not

Your fuel filters were clogged....take them off and wash out with fresh diesel or benzine and she will be as good as ever.
Wenn Räder durchdrehen einfach mal ein Gang höher schalten !
Definitely the engine of the Mog is suffering from flu

Das Problem ist zwischen lekrad und Sitz.
The guy who sold me my U1300L 15 years ago was selling to buy one of these MAN trucks........I never heard from him again??? Maybe his MAN killed him.
youre using the wron man. try man gl kat
I think 2much air in mans tyers
Die Fahrzeuge haben fast kein Profil mehr auf den Reifen…. Was füt ein Test bzw. Vergleich soll das denn sein. So was ist unprofessional
Aber beide Fahrzeuge hast 80-90% Profil auf den Reifen?
I think it WILL do it
Just throw the Driver out of the truck !!! And put an expert in ...
These old mills belong in a museum or on the junkyard, so you shouldn't drive around with them nowadays because of the large CO2 emissions !

He makes millions from his youtube videos!
@@mikescudder4621 he does not, all money he puts on his channel it comes from his own money from his work at trucks garage repairs 😉

@@mikescudder4621 the answer may not be so simple, and second i did not asked anything to you 💁♂
