I'm rewatching an older video of you walking around on the structure, pointing out what and where I should be fishing ,love this one, I'm a visual type learner this one really hits home for me . ( what productive structure looks like)
pomme de terre has some awesome looking structure in it . For those that don't know on the navionics app you need to look at left bottom of page hit the icon with the waves hit it and choose sonarcharts changes the chart definition.
HELP. I Am CONFUSED! I have read the green book, taken the advanced course, and recently seen all your UA-cam videos. With what I have been taught I would have NOT fished that spot marked on the map on that lake you won the musky tournament. When I look at the contour map the structure you fished it is NOT the longest narrowest deepest sharpest break to the deepest water. The contour map shows the structure as a bluff like area with a breakline at 5 feet. So that spot would be the shortest SHALLOWEST sharpest break to the deep water. That spot would be too shallow for consideration to fish according to all I have read and your studies. Now the tip of that bar and other side with fingers ...yes! But the spot you marked... not so much according to your teachings. What am I missing Don?. This spot would not even be considered per your recent UA-cam teachings of interpretation of structure. Is there some channel breakline you were trolling with wire line next this structure that is not shown on the map? I know I am not the ONLY ONE THINKING THIS DON. Hopefully you help us ALL with the same question.. Otherwise this teaching point has caused confusion rather than becoming a teaching point. There has to be something missing here that was overlooked. Thanks for taking your time to give all these lectures. I await each one weekly.
DAVID BROWN Appreciate your concern. We were fishing in early fall and the depths of that reservoir in the early 70s were different than it shows today. More importantly, the sharper break showed very clearly on the paper contour map that we had back then. The sharper break into that feeder stream cut that was 55’ at the time, was occurring at 35’!!! I agree, it doesn’t show on navionics. But trust me when I tell you, the sharper break at 35’ was easily identifiable, and that’s the exact spot where we caiught all four fish.. 35’ into 55’ sharper break! This, by the way, is a prime example that you just can’t put all of your trust into Navionics. The details that matter, can only be determined through your personal detail mapping done on the water! Hope this helps!
I am also confused. I don’t know what would bring you to this spot anymore than any other spot. Wouldn’t even consider this spot. If you where to fish that same tournament today and the only map you had was navionics would you be draw to this spot? I would never check this spot from what I have read in the books.
Don and Ali another great presentation on putting all the pieces of the puzzle together to get results. Thanks.
I surely do enjoy your presentations. I’ll have to go back and view them all again to be sure I have liked them all.
Looking forward to the next vlog. Thank you
thanks Ali and Don
