if you have experience in repairing such complex mechanisms and you confident that you can put it back together you can try to solve this. Firstly, the easiest, try to put the cover on it's place, maybe the right optical sensor can't see the tape and logic don't move the right motor because of flare.

Clean the mode switch....under the Mechanism.....
Put out only work Seyetm and very deaply Clean.
Is the belt problem was causing tape eating replace the belt and it will be working fine
Thanks man, the belt under it was actually snapped, so I replaced using one of my older VCR’s that was already broken beyond being fixed
