The worst idea was to do this in on going traffic instead of a parking lot
@H S na its so crowded like it really is the worst idea u can think of to learn how to drive manual

Totally agree! I practiced for a month in a parking lot before my dad told me to drive a stick car on streets. Anyone who wants to learn how to drive a manual shift car. Please DO NOT do the same. You can literally kill a pedestrian.

As a european who has moved to America, I feel like most drivers shouldn’t be on the road...
I recently bought my first car here in Europe... and notice some very dangerous situations other drivers put themselves in every time. While European driving tests are generally harder... they still have a ton of bad drivers that shouldn't have a license.
As a European from Europe, most drivers in EU should not have a license as well.
Because people who drive autos can't drive Stick?
@@MarcusCollins69 No, TBH it's just the way people are taught to drive here. Getting your license in America is way less intensive than Europe, which may result in less trained/capable drivers. Although driving stick is not proven to be a factor in making you a better driver, many people who drive stick claim its safer and keeps the driver more connected with the vehicle and the road.
@@nicschintee1511 I agree, but generally speaking, drivers in the EU are better trained and more capable than drivers in America. This is backed by the fact that, their way less road death in the EU than the US. I think EU drivers in general, are more involved in accidents that involve alcohol and speed. As for the US, it's more like distracted driving. But yeah, keep in mind, these are just some facts, I don't think there is enough research done about this.

yeh ahahahahhhaha she didnt know how to release the handbrake
Professional driving instructor my foot... I've been able to teach my 14 year old sister who has never driven on the road more efficiently. You can't bring them on the road right away; they need to start in a large parking lot. And I find people learn better if you give them a basic understanding of the transmission first.
This is the problem when you have a country that allows people to drive manual cars on the road after passing in an Automatic. Even the instructors are lax. 90% of countries you must pass a manual test first and they never put you anywhere near traffic the first day.
Same. When I started learning how to drive I had to be able to stop-start without stalling and be comfortable with shifting before I got on the road.
Transmission go vrooooom
Well most people in italy learn directly on the road and not in the "parking lot" and we do just fine. It's just that we don't make a huge deal out of manual driving, it's just driving chill.
Mansharan Singh Yea, definitely put a 12 year old on the road during their first time driving, lets see how that works.
“Clutch is the pedal, right”. Honestly, I remember my first time learning to drive stick shift. I did it in a parking lot, not out on the roads. I practiced for about 30 minutes constantly stalling. At one point I finally got it and tried real roads, which I surprisingly didn’t stall on my first couple of times. I’d say I eventually got the hang of it and my only enemy would be hills. I am never at a 100% consistency rate of not stalling when I am stopped at an uphill intersection. No matter how much I try to keep the revs at a reasonable amount with slow and good clutch control, I will stall here and there. I honestly think it’s a good idea these drivers are learning to drive stick shift. It’s a skill in life that you may need to know if there’s ever an emergency.
You don't need to be in gear or using clutch control when you're stopped. If you stop for a short while put the clutch and brake pedals all the way down. If you're stopped for a long while put the handbrake on and take the car out of gear. Clutch control is for moving slowly like in a traffic jam or parking, not for waiting at the lights. Using clutch control when stopped will wear out the clutch and you'll be revving unnecessarily.
@@rosieapplelemontart yes always put in neutral if you have to wait for like a minute or more, and never drive in half clutch for too long unless it's bumper to bumper traffic
I had some trouble my first couple times, my dad didn't explain how the clutch worked properly so I thought it was an on/off thing! Didn't help that my first attempt once he explained it properly was on a used Volvo we were test driving, and it needed a new clutch bad, the whole range was only about 1/4 inch of pedal travel. I drove first and he blamed the stalls on my bad driving, then we switched and he immediately stalled!
Damn peoples first times are in parking lots? Mines was in the street and I learned fast😂 I only stalled in red lights I learned from it
@@spoooky4657 Wow! I forgot this video / comment was still up. Nice to hear from another person. My friend learned the same way. She was put in main roads and stalled through a whole intersection to learn, but eventually became a good manual driver. Thanks to her I now know how to drive them.

Nicely said, was thinking the same thing.
The rain does t make any difference though 🤷♀️
I'm in Italy, more specifically in Rome, and Rome is the city with the highest concentration of cars on the road in Italy. We learn to drive ONLY with manual transmission cars and we learn to drive in traffic, even in the first lesson. Every car used for teaching is supplied with clutch and break even on the front passenger side, so the teacher can help you if you are near to kill or hit someone/something. Learn to drive manual is easy, and most important, allows you to drive every car. Stop this laziness and learn how to drive properly.

Any car guys laughing at this?
Kanna more of cringing
I always watch these tutorial vids about driving a stick shift although I've known them alot lol. It's feels so cringey watching these newbies trying stick shift, especially stalling though hahahhaha immediate jerk
Heh, Guess you could say I'm a bit of a badass. Yeah, I'm just "car guy" with an anime avatar. Heh, Heh. Wanna see my samurai sword collection?
any japanese people who pity weebs? lol

Max Power bet she can't even stop the car without stalling
I see an 86 in your pfp
i see an 86 too
Just wait untill she stalls on a hill. She won't even know how to put the handbrake on lmao, let alone drive up hill.
I feel like a pro now , seeing how people in usa struggle with this lmao
Never teach stick before explaining how manual transmission works and what the clutch actually does.
Wolfsburg GTI yup I told them how it works but it's all edited out to show the good stuffs lolll
Clutch good no clutch bad ok?
Not necessary at all, loads of people in here in Europe have no idea how the transmission works actually but they drive manual every day.
Terrible place to be when just learning how to drive manual. This instructor not very smart.
that is the point of the video
Should be in a parking lot
Instructors in my city taught in the same way jajajaj
Gotta learn the hard way
Some people do well with the "straight into the deep end" method of teaching. These were not that kind of people.
Clutch is done lol
Eduardo R. Not really lol. A few stalls won’t hurt anything

LMAO when she tries to push handbrake without pushing button
ikr. It's like she's never driven an automatic either. lol
They shouldn't be practicing on a busy street.
It was a parking lot believe it or not in a loop street. We were doing laps. There's this one section though with a stop sign for pedestrians and that's where we got caught a few times haha. This is NYC there are no huuuge parking lots out here.
Midhun C. Manoharan yes sir I am the instructor, and my name is really Chris, they made a mistake because we have another employee named Kris. This feature was fun. Be sure to catch me again but I'll be teaching a Super Model on this new show called "Model Squad"
I know right??????? BTW congrats on 122 likes! 21 more than me ; )
Thanks
Lol
I can't believe people can get a licence without ever learning to drive with a manual gearbox... baffling!
S Holdeenio how so? 90% of cars here are automatic
@@1181darkfire
Hence the laziness.
It doesn’t matter. If you know how to drive, you gucci, you don’t need to drive a stick to know how to drive.
Obviusly the US car licence is allowed only in USA. Because there you'll only drive automatic (which is wayyyy easier), and if you only have that licence and if you want to drive also in European countries you'll have to take the European car licence
Or without knowing how to change a tire or jump a battery.
Who tf puts a first time learner straight into traffic
Does stick shift mean manual?
blackhawks997 Odd
Because you use a stick to shift gears. You think they use paddles near the steering wheel to shift gears?
flyinghigh2000 Well it is better to say manual as you are MANUALLY shifting gears versus something that's AUTOMATICALLY doing it. And if you think about it, in an automatic you still use a "stick" to shift from P to R to N to D. It's how the gears are being changed that determines why it is called automatic. Thus manual would be a better term.
I can manually shift an automatic transmission.
YangSing1 ummm that does exist though. its called paddle shifters
Whole Europe are laughing at you Americans haha 💖
RustyNotesTV American's are European so your laughing at each other.
charger master you're
I am American, and I am still laughing at the other Americans! My dad made my drive manual before getting my license. He said that I would need it if and when I go to Europe, or if I ever get a job as a truck driver.
scrap that truck driver idea, get to europe for vacations, rent small, nimble, 250HP+ (at the crank) car and drive european roads outside cities, this is the joy and why we still drive mostly manuals
So is entire Eastern Asia
"My name is Felicia and-" BYE FELICIA!
That's why people drive cars 16 year old in america, it's because driving an automatic is like a toy, not stressful at all you don't have to think about multiple things at the same time.
Yeah automatic is the standard transmission in the US. If it was the standard transmission in the UK, a lot more people would learn to drive at a young age. I’m 18 and from the UK and there more people my age that I know who dont have their license.
@@Ross-ve9ww I'm 18 too from belgium, I'll get my license this year hopefully.
But driving a manual is way more fun that automatic....
I totally agree :)
Nah.
If you can drive manual, that's enough to show that you're a professional driver. Driving a manual is something you can feel and satisfied while automatic is zero skills given. It's like go into a subway and that's it for automatic. Manual is like to show how wise your are on mind using.
Bruh that’s wat I m sayin I m 14 and I daily drive a manual stick shift car
Requires too much thinking behind the wheel for some. Besides, they're already double fisting Starbucks and their cell phones lol.
This hurts to watch
Blake Gillan It hurts to watch people learning? Key word: learning
New York they’re struggling with things you have to do in an automatic. They should not have a drivers licence
europeans would learn stick already at around 10
It definitely hurt the clutch
Can this video get any more buzzfeedy?
They could have said something about feminism so yes
There's no kittens though.
My first car when I was 17 was a stick. My dad taught me. Been driving stick ever since. I'm 44 years old now and will go out of my way to buy a manual transmission car. Manual is the way to go - they're fun to drive, you have more control of when you need to accelerate quickly, better traction in snow/rain. The car becomes an extension of yourself. It's a beautiful thing.
Thieves hate him! Learn how thieves couldnt steal his car with this one simple trick
i’m learning how to drive (taking my test in a couple months!), and i’ve never been more thankful that my parents made me learn clutch before automatic.
did you pass?
Poor Felicia, she couldn’t even get past emergency brake
*hand brake
not emergency

Well, calling it "emergency brake" would mean it is supposed to be used in emergency... )))
19Koty96 which it can be in case of brake failure
@@19Koty96 the handbrake or how you call it emergency brake is mostly located at the rear end of the car so... good luck trying to stop like that without spining out into a wall or a car
That woman that asked if the clutch is a pedal is triggering….
Its called a manual
Not ‘sTiCk sHiFT’
So truuuuuuue man why do Americans always say stick shift ffs
You shift using that stick. Stick shift
We don’t care. We can call it whatever we want
You don't say"I drive manual" you say "I drive stick" it is a more common term among people who drive stick
@@rasyawK Americans can call it whatever they want to but they surely cant drive it....
Lady: I feel like I'm doing really good!
Chris: I'm sweat...
Me: Why are you and I watching a BuzzFeed video?
It’s gotta be so frustrating to learn stick in the city. People use their horn like maniacs
Cinderella I know how to drive a stick. But it’s not like you’re gonna get the hang of it immediately and if you wanna get good at it then you have to face the real world and practice in the streets.
I see Americans talking about ‘european drivers’ but in The Netherlands it’s much harder to get your license than in Czech Republic perhaps. You can’t generalise Europa as one country..
Isn't there like 10+ countries in Europe alone?

U have to learn to drive a Manuel in the uk to get a license and mostly all cars in the uk ar Manuel and I could drive a Manuel when I was 10 years old so it’s not that hard
Bruh you just click 2 pedals and turn
What do you mean? Automatic is so easy, you literally go into drive and go
Manual is harder than automatic, that's why they struggled so much lol. Americans are so used to effortless driving.
Norman Lee thats incorrect. you can get an automatic licence in the UK too
Hey I live in the US and I drive a manual transmission. Oh wait I forgot...
