I'm starting to wonder if people know what was in style in the 1920's, because a fitted waist, floor length mermaid isn't it. 1920's brides would opt for a straight sillhouette, drop waist, and hemline that wouldn't go above the knee, but never floor length, Juliette Cap style, and very lengthy veil.
Edit: So many fashion historians in the comment section, though. Love that for us, and see you all in another Karolina Żebrowska video lol.
Kates Moss great wedding dress was a homage to the 20s because of the veil. But this bride's dresses have nothing to do with the 20s.
I loved how you got us all in the end. Yes, we'll meet in another Karolina Żebrowska video hahahaha
Hahaha I’m glad someone said this, I was thinking the exact same thing when she asked for 20’s and then wanted the opposite of that!
I think this is a case of a bride fixating on the 1920s without realizing she doesn't actually like 1920s style.
I think she has no idea what 1920s dresses looked like.
She just didn’t know what’s the 1920s style and she said she doesn’t know what she likes, so she acknowledged that!
It’s a bit late, but I think that someone needed to show Katie pictures of what 1920s glam looked like.
I don’t like them speaking of a picky bride . She’s not , she simply has not yet found anything she feels right in . All that ‘ picky bride’ stuff strikes me as arrogant . That chap Gok is the only one who is not offensive, he’s so kind and helpful .
If I'm spending $1000+ on a dress, I'm gonna take my time and try to get everything I want. If that's picky, then ok I'm picky. But I'm not gonna spend that much just to feel like I settled.
You’re right. And “that chap Gok” had me spitting out my tea ahahaha brilliant
She was less lucky and more clueless. She said 20s but clearly wanted something 40s or 50s. 20s dresses were literal sacks with no figure hugging going on. The idea was to look as boyish as possible, waiflike, boxy. She wanted Hollywood starlet. Those two ideas are worlds apart.
Have you met Al and Jo?
Please SYTTD stop calling brides picky! This is the ONLY industry where shopping around is frowned upon.
Yeah, and you're spending thousands of dollars on ONE dress. For most people, this is the most expensive piece of clothing they will buy. So yeah, you better be happy with your purchase.
TLC not SYTTD.
When I get married you better know I’m spending ages trying on tons of dresses to find the perfect one. I’m shocked that some people can choose their dress after like 3 dresses. I want to try everything, make sure it’s perfect. This is a once in the lifetime event and it’s very expensive. I want to make sure that I get it right.
@@rachelcookie321 I went to over a dozen boutiques. Why not?? Once I chose my dress I knew for a fact that I had no regrets and zero what ifs!
@@rachelcookie321 You shouldn't judge about brides who try on 30 dresses, just as you shouldn't judge about brides who only need to try on 3 dresses to find the perfect one. The most imortant thing is that the bride is happy with her choice.
She wasn't picky. She knew what she wanted and was explaining it perfectly. The dress she picked fit her description to the T. Way to go for searching until you found what YOU were looking for!
She did NOT explain it perfectly. She wanted 20's, and the first gown was the most 20's I have ever seen at that shop.
Then she stated herself that she did not know what she wanted when talking to David. She also said the dresses were too boring, but she chose the plainest dress she tried on.
@@catladyfromky4142 The most 20's looking dress was the one she liked the least. She does not know what the 20's dresses and the entire "20's look" was about. The only thing she got correct for the style is the dropped waist she said she wanted, but then abandoned as not what she wanted. The dress she ended up getting was very late 1950's/early 1960's evening dress, especially the neckline and the detailing around the neck.
@@bunnyslippers191 That dropped waist style isn't becoming unless you're thin and over average height. Unfortunately. And agreed, her choice does look very late 50s or early 60s evening dress.
I hate it when others tell me what I want! Go for what YOU want.... IT'S YOUR DAY
Yes she wanted 20s fit and flare
I think the problem when brides mention one decade they feel inspired by, what they generally mean is the Hollywood take on the decade, and not the actual style of the time, so I think it would have been great for the consultants to ask a bit more about the shapes and fabrics she likes and not focus so much on the 20's elegance tagline.
I think your right, as someone who takes interest in historical fashion I often find the dress they choose isn’t really the style they say they wanted
Hollywood usually dictates fashion...we follow trends
This woman does NOT know what a 1920s silhouette is. The dress she chose is gorgeous, but definitely not 1920s. Which is fine, but when she kept insisting on 1920s and hating all of the 1920s dress and David called her out on it, she said she isn't confused. She isn't "picky", just misguided in her historical fashion.
The bride looks like the actress who plays Downton Abbey’s Edith Crawley.
I thought so, too!
She certainly does!
I clicked to see if it was indeed Laura Carmichael (sp?)
That’s what I thought too!!
Yes, I thought so too!! No wonder she wants a twenties inspired dress.
The problem is that she has no idea what a 1920s shape is. The first dress was closest to a 20s style, but even that had too much shape. She wanted something more along the lines of 1940s or 1950s: nipped in waist, sleek and hourglassy with that Hollywood starlet red carpet shape. There is nothing 20s in that vision. 😂
Exactly! She is super confused about the actual bridal fashion of the 20s
I agree! I feel it has more of the 50s neckline and that's it. The first one was more 20s style.
You're absolutely rigth 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Actually the wedding gowns of the 20’s, many had volume…not everything in the 20’s was drop waist.
EXACTLY. This one of my least favorite episodes. Didn't like the bride👎👎
I loved the first dress. It was the most 20s dress of the three and very glamourous.
The problem was, she has no idea what 1920s are! 😬
Totally agree. And I liked the first dress the best, too.
She wanted to look more grown up. The last gown does that beautifully.
If she really wanted a 1920s vibe these first dress was much the best. But a real 20s style would have been straight, heavily beaded, and not quite ankle length.
Wedding dresses at the time were not short. You're thinking more of evening gowns
It's so tedious to hear women called "picky" when they're not thrilled with dropping a month's rent (or more) on a dress that vaguely meets the description they've asked for.
Now, if you want to argue that wedding dresses aren't the end of the world and plenty of women throughout history got married in their best outfit, I'm with you. Probably not the energy to take to work if your job is to part women from their money for the 'perfect' dress.
exacto
yeah, obviously the ones who don't care that much don't end up at a bridal shop spending thousands.
Completely agree! Nothing wrong with having your expectations high.
She looked great in all of them. She picked the right dress though.
She wasn't picky just not clear on what exactly she wanted. Cause that dress was definitely NOT 1920s
I'm not sure the bride has done her homework researching vintage 1920s wedding dresses which were somewhat shapeless. I prefer the second dress.
i’m so tired of them asking what their fiancée wants to see them in first, it’s the bride’s dress not theirs! Maybe ask what the BRIDE wants first not the fiancé. Also a bride is allowed to be picky over a dress she’s about to spend thousands on.
“She’s going back and forth she doesn’t know what she wants she’s so confused”
Bride: * literally tried on two dresses * 😂
The first one was 1920’s. Then she says it’s not the style she’s after 🤔
I feel like this girl had never seen a dress from the 1920's. What she picked was dress with mermaids/fishtail bottom similar to 1950's one's with the Jackie O inspired top.
Why are these consultants so condescending? Why should she compromise for anything less than what she’s been dreaming of? It’s not an easy nor cheap decision.
True. They were way too condescending - I mean, of course the bride should be allowed to try on dresses until she finds the right one. It's for her big day and she's spending lots of money for that. Nothing wrong with it.
She was absolutely NOT picky! When you’re spending that much on a dress, you have to find the right one! Not 1920s accurate but I guess you could say “inspired”.
I feel like I just have to stand up for brides all around the world 🙈… there is no such thing as being too picky when it comes to picking your wedding dress! It’s one dress that you wear one time for this huge day that means the world to you. Of course you want it to be perfect! ❤️🌹 i remember trying on dresses somewhere and the ladies kept saying ‘she has no idea what she wants’… I did know what I DIDN’T WANT! How about that? I’ll know it when I see it! Knowing what you don’t want it also a thing you know… sjeesj!
She's not picky, she's confused. She asked for a 20s style dress, but what she really wanted was the extremely opposite, Hollywood glam. People were looking for her description of a dress and she never liked it because it wasn't what she actually wanted, that's the biggest skill a consultant has to have: be able to know what the bride wants even if they don't know themselves
I think even at the end, she's trying to convince herself it's the one. She looks confused still.
The dress she picked was more from the 1930’s than the 1920’s. That might be why it was difficult for her to find something.
"It's difficult" Welcome to your job David. This version of the show always seems to pick out exactly the wrong veil too.
IMHO…… the shop should get a few Juliette cap veils…… they were popular in the 1920’s…… Satin Sheath gowns with paneled lace trains, cowl necklines, pointed sleeves at the wrist! Let’s try to be a little more authentic!!
If you want some 20s authenticity, they need very dropped waists with absolutely nothing fitted, higher hemlines, lots of lace and satin could be used, maybe pleats in the skirt...oh, and the correct undergarments, please!!! 20s are shapeless sacks. I say that lovingly.💗
The bride seemed not at all certain about what she was looking for--until she found it. That dress was made for her. Gorgeous.
The description of the video says 1920s inspired dress, but I am really not seeing even a modern take of 1920s in the clearly gorgeous dress she chose. The dress feels like a modern take on 1940s glamor to me, but I am no expert by any means.
That first dress was beautiful.
I really liked the second dress.
Also, often people get different ideas of a style. If you go and look for 1920s, it shows you varied dresses because most of them are inspired and not actually the 20s style.
If you're bending towards a certain style, you must bring some pictures/ drawings to base an idea to go with...
The second and third dress were lovely on her. Glad she was able to feel the way she wanted!
The first dress was very 1920s inspired in my opinion. I don't think she *really* wanted a 1920s dress. She should've brought reference pics.
I loved the first dress.
She looks like a Roman goddess 😍😍😍😍
"Her expectatiosn are too high" - No, she wants to find a wedding dress she likes!
I'm so glad she wore her hair up for the true ons, you can really see the dress .
What a little cutie pie!
That’s the right dress, definitely!
Sorry I don't agree with many of the comments - she knows what she doesn't like but she doesn't know what she really wants either. And there is no such thing as a perfect dress (unless you're having a custom-made dress and are willing to spend thousands and thousands of dollars for it).
Truth Comment 👏
I pray who ever sees, just know that struggles don’t last always. Keep fighting. Keep pushing. This journey you’re going on will be worth it & you will have a story to tell to lift the next person. You got this 🤎💪🏾‼️
That first dress was stunning. The one she picked was the least attractive on her.
The one she didn't want to try on, in the dressing room, would've looked perfect!
Right on, Katie!! You chose well, my lovely, you chose well. It's a beautiful dress!
I have NEVER seen David, actually like one of his clients. He always has to insult them one way or another
The dress she picked was absolutely gorgeous and classy on her...
Crazy! She looked perfect in the first one
Perfect dress for her. I could also see her in waif fairly like bohemian.
Fifteen hundred quid can't buy perfection. Reality won't meet five grand bespoke expectations.
She didn't have any idea of what she wanted really, she thought all the other dresses were boring and ended up choosing the plainest one there..weird..
I don't know dresses here look wayyyy.. cheaper than the price they quote
The beautiful, elegant & sleek dress for a perfect beautiful Princess bride.
That first dress is lovely.
She looks gorgeous in her dresses.
She looked beautiful in all the dresses and perfect in the one she chose a beautiful princess perfect veil to compliment her beauty quite nicely well done everyone! 💕
The first dress was the best, a bit theatrical, the rest were nothing special.
How can your expectations be too high when it’s your multi thousand pound wedding dress?
Just perfect!! With the venue, you should wear a flower crown! It would be gorgeous!!
The first dress was stunning
She was NOT picky. She only tried 3 dresses. She knew what she wanted and why should she compromise for something she didn't want. Glad she found her dress she looks absolutely gorgeous.
The veils were totally different in the 20s
Gorgeous
Great choice
She rocked that dress.
I love David Emanuel!!! I think what many don't realize is that he is a designer in his own right. He has designed for royalty, for film and music celebrates, and David with his then wife designed Princess Diana's wedding dress. David is Fantastic!!!!👍😊❤️❤️❤️❤️
The bride looks like Edith from The Downton Abbey
The dress looked beautiful on her
She's toooo cute🥰🥰🥰🥰
1st dress was beautiful 😊
I hope they are all picky. It's their freaking wedding dress. I say try on what you want and find exactly what you want within your budget.
She is a gorgeous bride
It absolutely did the most for her figure. She picked the best one. Isn't that inspired on the classic Greek dress?
At least she looks really sweet in her choosen dress
Love vintage💗
First Dress! Not the Dress! Second Dress! Not the Dress! Third Dress! Yes! To This Beautiful Dress!
Why all the re-runs?
Sleek, elegant, classic, and grown-up. Great gown pick.
After the nightmare he created for Diana, Emanuel would be the last designer I would see for a wedding dress. (*Marie)
Actually I liked a Princess Diana's wedding dress.
Princess Diana loved the wedding dress he designed for her. Wasn't that the point?
Everyone commenting on these boards keep writing that the brides should ignore their entourage's opinion to find what they themselves want. And now you think because YOU didn't like Diana's dress it was a bad design. Ok then.
@@catladyfromky4142 well, if they hated Diana’s dress… why on earth would they go to the man who designed it? The point isn’t “Diana shouldn’t have worn the dress she did” it’s “I hate his designs and would never see him for a wedding dress”.
@@caissafrass6631 I realize that the OP didn't like the dress, but she(?) acted like the "nightmare" opinion is consensus rather than just her personal opinion.
Lots of people liked her dress, so much that an entire decade of wedding dresses had aspects of her dress incorporated into them. Like it or not, her dress was loved by many at that time. Styles change, so judging a dress by today's stylistic appeal or, like the OP, acting like her opinion serves as THE opinion is rather egocentric.
I wish she’d tried a glitzy belt with the 2nd dress and made alterations to the skirt to get that mermaid look. The 3rd dress was underwhelming in comparison.
Her choice was elegant!
I thought i was going to be like this when i was picking my wedding dress, but i only tried on 3 dresses and my nan helped with the silhouette as i was going for big princessy and i went with a fishtail
She looks like Edith from Downton Abbey and she was my favorite character in the show.
She doesn't know what she wants... but she's not confused... Did I hear that right?
She gives me Edith in Downton Abbey vibes with the dress on
Am I the only one who think she looks like Edith from Downtown Abbey?
honestly the first one looked the best on her
If she wants a beautiful 20's wedding dress, look to the wedding dress Lady Edith wore on Downton Abbey. Tat dress out shown the sack of a dress Lady Mary wore for her wedding on the show.
She looks so much like the gal from Downton Abbey!
The dress she picked was lovely for her.
i feel like there is a gaslight section in their employee handbook
She stated herself that she didn't know what she wanted. Then she said she was not confused.
She thought that some of the dresses were too boring, yet chose one of the plainest dresses she tried on.
So,yes, she was confused. She said "20's" but hated the exact shape that was 20's style. She said that the last dress was elegant but not boring. But it was plain. What was "boring"to her? No one but her knew what any of her words meant. Not even her.
@@catladyfromky4142 ok i think ur confused. please read my comment again.
I like this...
It’s the neckline. That third neckline was perfect for her. Nothing else sat right.
The first one was too old for her. It's something like a veteran a-lister of Hollywood would wear on the read carpet with all the shimmer. I do love dresses cut like that, especially the neckline. Very classy, flattering and timeless. Just the fabric is too heavy. I like the second one and it's got aniceshape and neckline but the satin is really unforgiving. It gives her a belly she doesn't have. The shoulders also look like add ons. THe last one is nice and very elegant except for the skirt. Like someone sewed a hula hoop to the bottom- why???
Throw a facinator on each dress or a viel
Hallelujah
if they are picky why buy ready made...... try couture............ and budget must be unlimited not only 1500
I thought it was Lady Edith from the thumbnail!
She actually looks quite a bit like Lady Edith from Downton Abbey.
She reminds me of Lady Edith from Downton...
if she's so picky how does she loves the lovely David?
