I’m 63 and I absolutely love makeup. I use neutrals as well as colorful eyes. There’s a trivet unfollow that says “ it’s makeup and at the end of the day it washes off” it makes me happy to play with makeup

Your just one of the girls with all the bumps and lumps that come with being in our 50s - but you don’t shy away from that - you embrace it with ‘what’s the alternative’ kind of attitude and I love it. For a non makeup artist, you do an excellent job! I have to put in contact lenses in order to do my makeup, as putting on a taking off glasses is such a pain. I use as many products as you, although I always curl my lashes, and always do a lip line (right after I've done my foundation/powder) as otherwise my lips disappear. I don't use an eye primer, but always go over the entire lid with a neutral shade before I start with the crease. The only other thing I do, is when I'm finished, I take my blush brush use whatever is left on the brush and add it to my brow bone and join up with the cheek - ties it all together, and then use a finishing spray to soften all the powder. Cheap as chips Elf Setting Spray - no alcohol - which is brilliant for me.
Your eye look is beautiful. That final step with the black eyeshadow does make a big difference. I do the same thing with a very soft pencil. Your foundation, bronzer, etc, also looks great. I think I definitely need to spend more time doing that.
Nice job Caroline. I enjoy that 15 minutes each morning doing my makeup at my dressing table . Don’t retouch through the day other than maybe some gloss or lipstick but I take the time to apply it nicely first thing.

Great video thank you Caroline. When I was little, I noticed ladies blotting their lipstick, then applying a second coat, so that's what I've always done. I'm trying to get my eyeshadow right, but it's tricky with small eyes. Love your hair colour, btw. Have a good week. x

Your make up always looks good 😊 I bought the Maybeline cover stick on your recommendation and I love it. I used to work in a huge Dept store on the make up counter, WAY back in the 70s, and then there were just a few well-known brands. 50 yrs on, I still wear make up 😅 and yes, softer colours are better!! There are SO many brands now its mindboggling, too much choice. You look fab. 😊😊😊

I was informed that one should use a flat hard bristled brush to apply lipstick which I often do. There is no need then to waste lipstick by taking it off with a tissue. What I do do to prevent lipstick getting on my teeth is to shape the tissue into a point, moisten the point, purse my lips over the moist pointed tip of the tissue close on it and draw it back. That way the lipstick spread does not go on your teeth. Been doing it successfully for 30 yrs. With time, the fullness of the lips starts to wane and to combat that without doing the Botox thing, I overcomplement the shape of the lips with a lip liner. It's a fine line,( pun intentional) to draw between giving a little omph ' and 'whorish overdo' but manageable. Key to success is knowing where you want or need to take liberties and a steady hand . Dentists shouldn't have any trouble. Thankyou for tips that you advertently and otherwise give. The face is the canvas; the makeup, the paint and you, the Artist.

Hey Caroline! I do all of the steps you demonstrated nearly the same. I have used the Maybelline Eraser concealer for many years, good product! I put a little Cerave face moisturizer on my face before I put my face primer on. I have been using face moisturizer since I was around 20. I think it has helped alot, I am turning 58 this month. I used Olay Oil Free for many years until the price of Olay products went up so much. You look so pretty Caroline!! Thanks for ALL of your vids!

Make-up artist or not, your make-up always looks lovely Caroline.
Since giving up work a year ago (my elderly parents need to come first now), I don't wear my make-up as often but I do love to wear it and, like you, really enjoy having a bit of "me time" at my dressing table.
I'm also finding cream bronzer and blusher better for my complexion nowadays. I've been wearing cream based shadow too lately, courtesy of a Trinny London gift voucher from my daughter. They're not cheap but they are so easy to apply, stay put all day and don't settle into the creases.
I've noticed, too, that I need to pay much more attention to my overall skincare routine or no matter how much care I take applying my make-up, it always looks awful.
I agree on the skincare routine, Iris. If I Slack off on my skin care routine for a few days, it really shows in the condition of my skin and the way make up goes onto it.
Caroline, an excellent vlog, I think you are clever & your make up looking fantastic... Myself I don't wear eyeshadow as my eyes are watering with this heat & hayfever.But exciting to see what colours are available so pretty....

Enjoyed that! I never spend time on my eyes but wd like to learn how to do a tight line. Lipstick blotting - the tissue yes - but then I reapply the lipstick. It gives a base which stays put.

This was a great video Caroline iv got loads of tips from you I was actually putting on my own makeup at the same time I followed everything you did only thing I didn't put the brush under my eye lashes I use a primer before I use the mascara I have never used a bronzer but it's on my list for the weekend all in all I loved everything you did and of course you looked fantastic afterwards thank you Caroline for sharing this video xx

Interesting you should mention Shein's make-up, because I've wondered about trying it several times for a video, and I've even been on the website and looked to buy some bits and bobs. Do you know, I just couldn't get inspired by anything I saw. No idea why. I will revisit it though, because as you say, it would make a good video.
Please avoid Shein. You cannot trust the toxins. Research them ..a terrible company in terms of plastic, slave labour and animal cruelty
Thank you for the tutorial. Your eyes looked exceptionally pretty. Black liner under the upper lashes is my secret weapon as well. My eyes and lashes are light, they need all the help they can get. I've always been advised to use neutrals only with blue eyes, but lately I find a wee little hint of the light blue glittery shade in the Revolution butterfly palette is just enough without being overdone. I especially appreciated your blending tips! xx Patty

Well, Caroline, for a non make up artist you do a good impression! Your make up looks absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! I dont tend to wear make up now as my Husband prefers me with the "natural" look (Im 70 by the way) I would, when I was younger, never even attempt to go out without makeup but over the years I have got used to it. However, on the odd occasion that we do go out I do like to use make up on my eyes. However - I have VERY hooded eyes. I use a product on my lashes (UK lash eyelash serum) which REALLY HAS extended my lashes - I think they look great - but shadow is a waste of time as you cant see it when I have done it!! Having said that though I really enjoyed your make up grwm video and hope that you will be doing more. Have a great rest of the day Love Lyn xx xx
