Okay the reason you couldn't get the drainbolt off the oil filter cap without the oil filter cap coming off with it is because the torque specs were not properly followed during a previous oil change. (And the same happened during this oil change. You likely tightened the drainbolt more than the oil filter cap and that is the problem.)
    Oil filter cap = 25 N•m (18 ft.lbs.)
    Oil filter cap drainbolt = 12.5 N•m (10 ft.lbs.)
So the drainbolt should only be about half as tight as the oil filter housing cap.
When this happens you could try tightening the oil filter cap using a proper oil filter cap wrench (like the one you have) and giving it more than the usual 18 ft.lbs. The idea is that it needs to be tighter than the drainbolt in order for the two pieces to come off separately.
When reinstalling be sure to follow correct torque specs and this should not happen again.
The plastic piece included with the oil filter for draining the oil filter housing is called a service pipe according to the instructions that come with an OEM Toyota oil filter; but rarely does anyone read them.
Man, you really over-complicated this whole procedure when you totally disassembled the oil filter cap. Where is the center tube? Is it missing? Hope not that is a critical part which helps prevent the oil filter element from collapsing. Watch a couple other oil change videos and you'll see what I'm talking about.
You must own stock in the company that makes brake cleaner...🤔😜

There's only one reason to use high mileage oil and that is if your engine is showing signs of wear or leaking seals by consuming oil, otherwise you don't need it regardless of what the odometer reading is.

You are a great videographer and hard working individual. Thanks for sharing these videos! I own a 2007 LS460 with 149k. Most satisfying vehicle I have ever experienced. My last oil change leaked a bit when they tried to use a plastic oil filter housing instead of the OEM.

Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience! Ours is also 2007 LS460 with ~210K... It is truly an amazing machine! Wonder if you have a chance to watch another latest video the LS460: ua-cam.com/video/WSSfJN8uv9s/v-deo.html

I have a 2007 LS460, been changing oil for at least 4 years now. Here's my experience, that oil filter drain bolt is in my opinion, not needed. I was never able to take it off. I just take off the whole filter housing. Regardless, you are still going to get oil spills on your hands.
It's nice to have a vacuum but I go underneath the car and open the bolt.
Instead of magnetized drain bolt, I put a few of the neodymium N52 magnets on the bolt. All the metals will be on the bolt and gets flushed out in the next oil change. Don't get the magnetized bolt. It is fragile. I had sheared off a bolt while it was still in the pan. I had to drop the pan. I had not heard of screw extractor back then.
In my opinion, you don't need to clean the filter housing. I don't want brake cleaner residue in my oil system. It will get dirty again anyways and the dirty oil will get filtered by the filter.
I have always used mobil 1 synthetic oil before but now after looking after project farms video. I am using costco 0w-20 synethic oil. It's much cheaper. You get 10 quarts of oil in 2 jugs. Kirkland Signature 0W20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, 2-pack

Believe it or not, I get everything done at the dealership. Those receipts are golden.

Why are the receipts golden? Save the receipts for the parts if you do it yourself and those receipts are just as golden (at least in the USA).

Yeah I can’t stand all that oil mess going everywhere so I go to the dealer as well for oil changes, but other maintenance I do myself.

A better way to do the oil filter drain is just to skip the plastic drain & remove the entire housing at once.

Hi guys, hope you are well. You could maybe attach a length of hose to the white plastic filter drain tool to direct the oil into your oil container. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

What happens if you use vegetable oil...?
    ua-cam.com/video/sbPxLm21gek/v-deo.html
And you should check the dip-stick after the vehicle is off the ramps on a level surface... And make sure to check for leaks.

I have a 2007 ls460. Why does my mechanic recommend using 10w 30? When the car asked for 0w 20. His answer was, it's because the car is old.
