Vintage Columbia Wood Vise [Restoration]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- This old tool restoration is a Columbia 10 inch wood vise. I've wanted this style of wood vise for a while because it give me the ability to clamp larger pieces of wood on the bench. In this video I disassemble, clean, polish, paint, reassemble, and install the vise on my bench. Vise History. In 1921, the Columbian hardware company changed their name to Columbian Vise & Manufacturing Co. about 1927. Columbian was acquired by Warren Tool Corp. in 1965 Warren was sold to Wilton Corp.

Done, both of those bro!!!
Good afternoon from Auckland, New Zealand ...good to see ya using a 'Record Vise' made in England ...nice to see old vise's coming back in life again, my ' Record No 52 Woodworkers Bench Vice' was manufactured in the 40s ...which I'm restoring mine at the moment!
I love that blue color.
That was awesome
Thank you
Turned out very Nice! Have a gooden - Vic

Once again an excellent job .
Excellent work as always. Enjoy watching you work. Thank you. :)
Many thanks!
Great looking vice, and really useful. Not seen that sort of handle before. I wonder if it might have been better not to paint the dog, but to polish it like you did the handle? Love the colour - it always seems just right for a vice. Thanks for posting this - really enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching, and you are right about the dog. If you look close in the last clip the paint has been stripped off the dog so it works better.
Good stuff, man. I like the way you work. You get the job done! Thanks for doin' what you do.
Thank you
Beautifully done! 😃👌🏼
Thank you! 😊
I enjoyed this refurbishment. Blue is my favorite color, but a blue Columbian vise? lol.
LOL.. yes It should have been gray but I wanted it to match the other vise on my bench. I do have a Record I will do sometime soon. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video. I picked up a vintage Columbia vice almost exactly like yours. Still trying to decide how much to do to it before I mount it on the bench. I love the look of it as is, and the handle and screw work fine. But you've given me some things to think about. Thanks.
These are great vises. Thanks for watching
Great vice. I owned one - a different model, 3 CD, but with a speed handle like yours. No need for a quick release mechanism.
Thanks for watching
Really nice job all the way around. Excellent camera work, too!
(Now if you would do a vid on rehanging the weights on a cuckoo clock, I would be happy.... )
I have never worked on a Cuckoo Cuckoo clock, but i did have to hang the weights on a grandfather clock once, but sorry didn't video it...LOL... Thanks for watching.
@@vintagemachineworks I just picked up an old Columbian vice (model 6CD) to resell and have included a link to your video in my description. Hopefully, you'll get some views from it. Daniel
@@danieltaylor7944 Thank you
Very nice! Sometimes I wish you had better lighting at your work bench so we could see objects a bit better. Maybe a simple emergency light. Also, I like your unpretentious videos. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching... I am working on getting better camera equipment
Gooood job
Thank you
DUDEEZILLA! Is Evaporust NOT the BOMB.COM!?!?!?!?! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that stuff!!!!

I have this exact vise currently any idea how to find the date it was made?
Not sure there is a way to date exactly but it is pre 1965.. Thanks for watching
