Never had a baby, but I've had 3 kidney stones in the last 30 years. They really suck. My 2nd one, I had forgotten what all the hospital did to cut the pain, so I figure, I don't need to go to the hospital, I can pass it at home. Long story short, after 3 days in agony so bad, I was rolling around on the bed. The pain does ebb from time to time, and you might get 20 minutes of sleep, and it's right back at it. So after the 3rd day, I still haven't passed it, my wife's had enough, and I ended up in the emergency room anyway. 3rd time I just went in.
No babies or kidney stones, but I had a groin hernia once AND had to drive a stick shift uphill to the ER. Every time I moved my leg to the clutch to shift I was stabbed with a rusty knife. Luckily it was 4 AM so no traffic. The WORST pain is a dislocated shoulder. Not coming OUT, but that last split second going back IN is like being struck by lightning.

Sorry. I had to have triple hernia surgery when I woke up with my gut descending into my scrotum and blocking my ability to urinate. I had an incarcerated bilateral inguinal hernia. And I have pictures 😂.
Everyone is different. My mom has had kidney stones and has given birth 3 times. She says childbirth has worse for her, then again we have endometriosis…
Been there, done that. Unbelievable pain, made me nauseous, and peeing blood is not reassuring. Doctors told me to stay more hydrated in the future. And I am, because nobody wants to do that twice. Women are amazing, they go through that kind of pain, often more than once. Voluntarily!

I forgot to add: I love how Jim literally told it how it is in our ERs! People think "ohhh it's Canada! Free Healthcare! They're rolling in good times!" NOPE. Unless you're literally walking with your head split open and brain hanging out or are flat lining, get comfy in that waiting room.. Typically, you're in the first waiting room for a few hours, then the next one for a few more hours. Then you get a bed and most people pass out from exhaustion from waiting by this point.. then the nurse bursts in yelling your name so you may have a heart attack to top of lf your other ailment(s). Then you wait another hour before the doctor sees you. Then you go for testing... another hour.. then wait in the waiting room for results for a few more hours, providing no one forgets to tell you your results (yeah, you lose your bed the moment they send you for tests). ER round trip takes around 12-16 hours. Also our Healthcare isn't "free" we pay for it with our heavily taxed everything! 😅
Jimmy Kimmel is full of Jims. I had a gallbladder stone once. I screamed a lot too. Not like my wife though. I was present at all our three kids births. Love you J.K. and you J.J too. of course, GEE S. from Germany
As an Australian who has had kidney stones… firstly, I wish I could tell a story as well as Jim Jeffries. Secondly… yeah I have been through that. The nurse I talked to said it’s like giving birth to something spiky.
Jim was lucky. Mine was about the same size, but it had three evenly spaced horns on it, which made its passage through the urethra even more harrowing.
I've passed 7 kidney stones in the past 25 years and it's truly the worst pain I ever felt. It can take two or three days for the stone to pass, and during that time all you can do is lie in bed and curl up in a fetal position in bed and try your best to tolerate the waves of pain. You will find yourself pacing back and forth and sitting on the toilet trying to "push" the stone out of your body LOL. There are short periods where the pain goes away, but it always comes back until the stone passes. If you can get to an ER, then you will get relief --- mine was usually a shot of Toradol which works wonders! Morphine also works good. I discovered that drinking a lot of tea (hot or iced) usually caused my stones. I also got a stone once after eating a a lot of pepperoni as a snack food for two months straight. So there are definitely certain liquids and foods that cause the stones!
Worst Pain You Can Imagine Huh...You Have Any Idea on How to Prevent Them?...Like Which Foods/Drinks You Should Avoid?...Drinking lot of Water is Basically The Only Main Answer to Stones (From Doctors)
@@jackwoods9604 drinking a lot of water is great advice --- but for me, the foods you need to avoid are large quantities of tea (either hot or iced) and eating a lot of processed meat, such as pepperoni and salami --- but drinking tea was always the main culprit for the majority of my stones
It’s true- I’ve had a kidney stone and children and the kidney stone hurt worse. However I think back pain hurts more. Maybe having babies doesn’t hurt as much because afterwards you’re so happy. But my sister watched me give birth and she told me later she didn’t want to go through that.
Anyone here remember the moment of entering the hospital- for the birth of your second child- & suddenly remembering in a rush, why you’d sworn (at the time) you wouldn’t have any more, after the first?😱 When I look back, & remember the alarming shock, of that moment in time, it genuinely makes me lol. In my mind’s eye, I see it almost as a cartoon 😂🤣
In Canada when its head heart or lungs you go to the front of the line it's frustrating when you don't have that problem you're going to have a long wait that's the price we pay for mostly free healthcare it's not a perfect system but it's sure a lot better than the US😊
I've had 2 kids one completely natural and 2 kidney stones. The pain from the kidney stone hurt soooo much more than natural childbirth I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone!

Dean, god bless you!! I've had 2 kidney stone episodes! I was vomiting with pain! Morphine is a miracle! Woman who wheeled me to the mri said she's had 3 kids and one kidney stone, would do 3 more kids before another stone!
Just caught this clip. I always get a kick out of Jim's comedic stories. I first heard him on Sirius XM on one of my long drives. But anyway, I just want to thank you for being nice and saying nice comments about canadian people, there's still a few azzholes out there, but that's beside the point. That shows you're a class act by respecting the people who attended your shows here in Canada, Thank you, and bless you, Mr. Jim Jefferies👍🙏 .
You were lucky. I had a kidney stone, made it to hospital, doubled over in pain. Diagnosed straight away and put on a drip with pain killers which had no effect. The pain only stopped when I passed the stone. I can definitely sympathize.
This is a really accurate explanation. When mine moved from the bladder to the ureter, I could not stand. I could not stop vomiting. I was at work, an hour away from home. I have never made that trip faster and I checked into an emergency room. Now. If you're bleeding profusely, or have serious trauma, or you're clearly dying, they will bring you back right away. Another way to get back is to ask the nurse - hey your bathroom is out of order. Do you have a place where I can vomit? Right this way, sir, as they whisked me back with my unbuttoned pants falling down. It's up there with breaking a leg. Not quite, but it's close.
My urologist recommended lemon water after I had eleven kidney stones in two years. That was five years ago, and I haven't had one since. Citrate, a salt in citric acid, binds to calcium and helps block stone formation.
Jim is the only person who can take a kidney stone and turn it into a hilarious story! Shout out to Kingston hospital, they have such an amazing reputation 💜

Sorry.
I had to have triple hernia surgery when I woke up with my gut descending into my scrotum and blocking my ability to urinate.
I had an incarcerated bilateral inguinal hernia.
My junk sack was so engorged that my doctor requested my wife to take photos for future educational purposes.
A living hell that repeated itself two years later.
Yeah. Beat that. ...
Hate to break it to you once you get kidney stones you are always prone to them
You can take *apple cider vinegar* (ACV) daily as a preventative. Dilute 1 teaspoon in a glass of water and drink, or add to salad dressing (it's _strong)._
I am a Canadian and I love this guy. Great material at his shows and appears to be a stellar human being.
You're lucky it happened in Kingston, and not Oshawa just 2 hours West. Would have been a similar story, but without the Morphine! 🙂 Family caught the show up in Sudbury, Ontario and said you killed it. Hope to catch you on your next tour.
❤😂 Jim is Great 😂. Jimmy is Wonderful 😊❤!!!
Jim Jeffries looks healthy. Better life choices, good for him.
Perhaps, but not all his stories end the same way - "and them i got home and went to sleep'
I feel your pain, Jim. I presented at a Melbourne hospital with kidney stones. They took one look at me and diagnosed it. Horrible, horrible experience.
Ouch. I hope you’re feeling better!
JIM JEFFERIES
LOVE Jim Jefferies. PLEASE if Jimmy ever gets a call to do the Oscars again. I sense a brilliant co-host bromance. The two Jims....a match in heaven.
Oh man, I hear you on the food thing Jim!! Me too. No more smoking, drinking or drugs. Don’t tell me I can’t eat what I like too! That’s all I have left. With you 100% on that Mr. Jefferies.
I was at the Ottawa show. He was as great as always.
Now that's a showman! Performing while birthing the mother of all kidney stones. Dang Jim! Thanks for literally giving us your all! 🫡❤ Canada loves ya, mate! ❤🎉 (also shout out to Kingston General Hospital & "Dean"!!)
I have a special love for Kingston, and the hospital there. Love from America!
Like a fish that got away, perhaps the kidney stone grew in the telling.

@@MiBzAnas a Kingstonian, I just hope he went to the Dieu and not KGH...like 1.5x the wait of the Dieu like ALL THE TIME
I love Jim. And btw I have heard from everyone that the greatest pain (more than childbirth, broken back, knees etc) IS kidney stones.
Jimmy Kimmel is full of Jims. I had a gallbladder stone once. I screamed a lot too. Not like my wife though. I was present at all our three kids births. Love you J.K. and you J.J too. of course,
GEE S. from Germany
Two of my favourite people, what’s not to love ❤️
As an Australian who has had kidney stones… firstly, I wish I could tell a story as well as Jim Jeffries.
Secondly… yeah I have been through that. The nurse I talked to said it’s like giving birth to something spiky.
*Yikes!* ✴
I miss this guy, give him another TV show already!
That was enthralling 😍
Jim was lucky. Mine was about the same size, but it had three evenly spaced horns on it, which made its passage through the urethra even more harrowing.
I was also at the show and it was great show. Not bad for not remembering.
Was at the Ottawa show it was amazing
It’s true- I’ve had a kidney stone and children and the kidney stone hurt worse. However I think back pain hurts more. Maybe having babies doesn’t hurt as much because afterwards you’re so happy. But my sister watched me give birth and she told me later she didn’t want to go through that.
Anyone here remember the moment of entering the hospital- for the birth of your second child- & suddenly remembering in a rush, why you’d sworn (at the time) you wouldn’t have any more, after the first?😱
When I look back, & remember the alarming shock, of that moment in time, it genuinely makes me lol.
In my mind’s eye, I see it almost as a cartoon 😂🤣
In Canada when its head heart or lungs you go to the front of the line it's frustrating when you don't have that problem you're going to have a long wait that's the price we pay for mostly free healthcare it's not a perfect system but it's sure a lot better than the US😊
You have to appreciate a hospital who cares for patients emergencies more than famous people, bravo Canada!
I've had 2 kids one completely natural and 2 kidney stones. The pain from the kidney stone hurt soooo much more than natural childbirth I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone!
One or the other champ
I feel you Jim! I had a kidney stone that came out from my urethra. I was really in pain too. I saved the little stone but I dunno where it is now. Please take care of yourself. 🤗
Kingston is a pretty city. I took a ghost walk tour. Very grisly past. Glad they treated you well.
my wife and I where at the Ottawa show....haha too funny
Canadians!
Morphine!
Edibles!..... great story 😂
He’s the best!😊
My urologist recommended lemon water after I had eleven kidney stones in two years. That was five years ago, and I haven't had one since. Citrate, a salt in citric acid, binds to calcium and helps block stone formation.
Watched him live and did a meet and greet in Bergen Norway earlier this year, he was great. But that 6mm kidney stone is childs play, mine was 15mm.
good old Jim, knows how to spin a good yarn
Jim is the only person who can take a kidney stone and turn it into a hilarious story! Shout out to Kingston hospital, they have such an amazing reputation 💜
I used watch him on Comedy Central loved his show too bad he's not on there anymore. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see any Canadian shows I'm one of those Nice Canadians 🥰
I hate to hear about the pain, but this was beyond real and I very much appreciate it.
Was in the ER last week with Kidney stones! There is just nowhere to go with the pain and nothing to do about it, all I could say was F#*k! F#*k! F#*k! and writhe in pain! I wish I could describe how much this hurts, there are just no words. I passed a 6 mm.
I layed in the middle of the waiting room floor writhing in pain. They brought me in right away.
You got lucky Jim, that looks quite smooth, mine looked like I could use it on top of my christmas tree.
Yeah the stones I passed always had razor sharp edges and points on them
Hahahahhahaha when he said “I understand that life choice completely!”
Finally! Someone gets it
The emu that swallowed a coconut was a crazy visual.
Jim Jefferies for Speaker of the House. Time to step up Jim we need you. 😉
A bit hard when he is not American
@@mithrasrevisited4873 I'm not sure you need to be. Just elected... unlike any republican.🤣🤣🤣
@@mithrasrevisited4873 actually Jim is a citizen of the US now. and from what i have read a non US born citizen can be speaker of the house, buuuuut being third in line to the presidency he would run into problems if the pres AND VP were somehow eliminated as both of those positions you need to be a natural born US citizen.
As someone who's passed kidney stones, I can confirm that Morphine where it's at! It hits hard within 5 seconds 😂 Lol the 2nd time, I knew what was happening went to emergency & was like give me the morphine please 😆💕👍
I was at work one night for my shift. There were only 10 people in the place. But then we hear a loud moan and scream through the building. It turned a co-worker has passed a kidney stone. He went home and passed another, passing out on the bathroom floor. He cleaned them up, putting them into a small collector's display case. He did a show and tell the next night showing off his stones.
Looking forward to having Jim at our Festival next week for three nights!
Its an interesting thought.. so many people experience morphine and will almost unanimously say it is one of the best feelings they've ever experienced but many will condemn anyone who has become gripped by heroin..
Jim looks great, and not at all wasted like in some of his specials!
6 to 9 kidney stones a year, since i took Ibandronate for osteoporosis ... in 2007.
I have gotten used to it now - except when the journey of the stone stops about 2 inches before the exit...
Gods great plan!!
Just went through that three weeks ago. At Noon my back hurt, by 4pm someone had to pick me up off the floor.
Stone was too big to pass. Had to do surgery.
Humbling when your bladder wants to pee anywhere it wants to.
You poor baby 😭. I've never had a kidney stone but my ex husband has and he had to stay in hospital, due to the pain. This man is hilarious and so charming 😍!!
Jim and Jim out here looking like they're brothers....
Someone give that guy a new sitcom.
Well, I've been diagnosed with several kidney stones (2-3mm). Somehow, his experience help me cope. Hope that I'll pass every single piece with minimum to no pain eventually.
Man for how many years am I laughing about his jokes. Alcoholocaust still is a gem 😅
Love him! His Anaheim show was fantastic!!
GOD. Funniest bit i've seen in ages. I relate very personally to this!
Always a great guest. Among the funniest of the funny.
We love you too hon. Glad you're better!
I had the same experience. Kidney stones thinking it was appendix. Screaming like hell at the ER. But for me morphine didn't work, so theu gave smth else. All I remember is the bill was 20 thousand dollars. Btw, I gave birth naturally. Kidney stones hurt more 😅
In Australia, all of that would be ‘free’ and covered by the 2% medical tax levy we pay. No one should have to pay for basic medical stuff.
Jim is an awesome story teller...
Omg I probably shouldn’t, but I love this episode. You go…. Jim. Real and poignant and sad but still really funny. That’s not easy to achieve.
