Every Jamaican and others with interest in ja should watch this video
I used to listen to the two of them ,Louise Bennett and Ranny Williams on the radio growing up!!
I'm Guyanese and this woman is the main reason I became interested in linguistics
and anthropology.
Met her once with my Mom and my two sisters while we were shopping , In Papine, she had "Ring Ding" on TV, my younger sister begged her to come on with her two friends to do a dance! She was a lovely lady!R.I.P
And we did dance in that Second Saturday in July of 1972, I was 10 yrs old! We danced to a song called "black skinned blue eyed boy" then 2 weeks later on August first 1972, we left Jamaica to come live in NY! I will never forget that lady, Miss Louise Bennett!! ❤❤❤❤
She was!!❤❤❤❤
She was a real hero... Thanks for this.
No prob 😁
What a national treasure she is! Louise Bennett should be recognized as one of Jamaica's National Heroes for her rich contributions to Jamaican life and culture. Her poetry and performances allowed us to feel proud about who we are as a people. Without her body of work, so much knowledge of the culture would have been forgotten. let's not forget her!
Donna Clayton agree 1000%

Complete GRATITUDE. 🙏🏽
For all those advocating for Patois to be official; please note that Ms Lou spoke proper English very well….she had a good command of both….the point is nothing is wrong with Patois but one must know how to juggle both languages…
Exactly... She reached so far in London and NY because she had a great command of proper English
Ehhh
It is such a joy to listen to Louise! So many reasons to love and adore her! Thank you for sharing!

The good old days, what a Treasure and a Gift from God Miss Lou is, I am positive that She is a large part of the success of our culture, instilling pride, uplifting the Jamaican people through excellence, Elegance and beauty she lit the path to success by Fanning the flames of the Nation's pride, instilling a self-love. I truly believe without Miss Lou as our cultural Ambassador, the Jamaican people would have never come into their own with the confidence of Lions, for such a small country, our success and influence is enormous, thank you Miss Lou for building the foundation for the success of your people ❤️
Louis lives long, smiling and laughing keeping the adrenalin at bay. Anger not good for the heart.

i love her...I miss her....a pity she died in the very year I was born
We miss her too Alex. Her legacy will always live on as it has impacted and influenced so much creativity within our nation.
She had the most radiant smile.
Although she indulged in ice cream and chocolate and was a large woman, she lived a long life.
She lived such long because of her clean heart and smile
