I am a 76 year old former Democrat from Massachusetts. I would NEVER vote for Kamala. I also thought I would never vote for Trump. I had endorsed and donated to the RFK Jr. campaign several times. Now that I have gone down the rabbit hole and now that I am aware that the mainstream media cannot be trusted, I have given my vote to Trump. Unfortunately, I cannot let my die-hard Democratic friends know how I feel about this because they will never speak to me again. It is such a sad time that we are living in to say the least! I watch The Dark Horse Podcast every week and I want to thank Bret and Heather for all their hard work. I have been getting the best advanced education from watching their podcast for several years now. PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR DILIGENT WORK!

@gclepine I live in Portland Oregon and I have had the same experience. Politics over reason... Association with a political group that becomes your identity... I lost friends for challenging group identity in favor of Know Thy Self. If it wasn't for RFK Jr, Dr. JP, Bret and this Unity movement I wouldn't have considered Trump. I hope having the support, vision and strength of people I admire brings life back into a saner, stronger, healthier country that I want to safeguard for my children.

@@cindyspiess9963 The best way to be sure is to buy in-season domestic and directly from a farmer or market you trust. I'm sure there are some small certificates that guarantee testing, but packing houses are notorious cheats. Something that spoils fast might be field packed and sold faster than a test can be done. Some produce is more important to find organic than others. Apples, potatoes and grains for example. Some conventional produce is as good as organic, like avocado, I have a block of persimmons and they don't have pests so they don't get sprayed at all. You can easily grow greens yourself in a container. The worst part is that some imports are labeled organic but are using USA banned chemicals because they are unregulated in other countries. The "Apeal" loophole is really scary too. I wouldn't stress too much if you are doing your best. Most important is to stay away from out of season, processed and pre packaged foods as much as possible.

    • @anthonye7216

    • @SoilToSoul
      @SoilToSoul 3 дні тому

@@cindyspiess9963Not dependably, no. Your best bet is to find a local organic farmer you can trust and/or build relationships with neighbors in a community gardening effort if possible. Other than that, look up the list they call the 'dirty dozen' when it comes to fruits and vegetables, and definitely buy organic for those at least. It is getting harder and harder to try not to eat poison these days, it is very frustrating and sad.
Do your best to buy local. The less a product travels, the better chance you may have of preservative type chemicals, like 'apeel' not being used. And you'll get fresher too, because so much is picked before it is ripe and this affects the flavor of course, but also the nutritional value.

Youth and the new demands of the future will naturally alter the Parties. The Left has become more and cult- like and more and more totalitarian. That is demonstrated in many ways, but the mob actions of the young Ivy League Leftists joining with Hamas supportering mobs in Antisemitic attacks across the nation this year makes their extreme transition painfully clear. This is not the tolerant Democrat Party of the past. On the other hand, the Republican Party has come to represent the open minded, live and let live values of Classical Liberals. Nothing stays the same. Republicans moved more Left, but Democrats moved off the planet.

About an hour and 10 minutes in he was speaking about the difference between conservatives and liberals. However, he wasn’t really describing conservatives. He was describing libertarians. The values of conservatism are derived from Judeo Christian values. These values dictate how we are to treat each other. The “floor” does not need to be dictated by government because the poor and needy, orphans and widows should be taken care of in the communities in which they reside in a conservative society. Our forefathers knew that with freedom came responsibility. That responsibility includes how we treat our fellow men.

Agreed fully - LOVE Brett and Heather, and don't expect them to have a conservative view of this, but describing earnings gleaned from investment as rent-seeking and wealth-siphoning without adding value betrays a misunderstanding of what investment is and does. The investor is bearing risk by trading existing earned value based on calculated risk for the expectation of a future return (i.e., more value back than he risked in the investment). Investment infuses value back into the market, and in the unhampered market investments are made based on market signals that there is a reasonable expectation of a return rather than a loss. The return is the compensation for the value of bearing the risk of funding an enterprise through investment. Profit off wise investment is no different than profit off wise innovation.
Now, where I do agree with Brett and Heather, is that many (at least, possibly/likely all) of the "great fortunes" (including Elon Musk's, for all that I do like about him - how much of Tesla's success rides on the back of EV subsidies (tax money)? SpaceX on NASA/DOD subcontracting (tax money)? I'm making an assumption, of course) of the modern era have been the result of rent-seeking behavior. Not in the sense of gaining a return on investing into their own or other enterprises, but in the form of leveraging government interventions to the benefit of their business. There's where the rent seeking lives, not in the investment concept.
Genuine question, what does equally distributing opportunity look like, practically speaking? Seems to me that the examples given require redistributing income top-down. I agree that we don't want innocents falling through the cracks; but I think that the problem needs to be, and can be, solved, or at least alleviated, from the ground up.

    Lifelong Republican (68 yo)
    Here is our unity prayer:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
I would consider it an honor and a duty for the GOP to shelter & restore American unity.
I hope & pray that Trump wins, that his successes do advance unity. Let us be America, delivering prosperity, good cheer, comfort and innovations to the world. That's the go-to for which I'm voting.
I won't compromise on my principles:
    1. America first, then help others.
    2. All power resides in the citizen. Government only by consent of the governed. Constitutionally limited government. All individual freedoms are protected-- economic, speech, religion, arms.
    3. Individual accountability and equal treatment under the law.
To conduct myself with tolerance, patience & respect for others, especially my fellow citizens.
Mankind's greatest days are ahead. The world is counting on us-- let's get together and make it happen!

How do you feel about his statements that he will use the US military to go after those that don't vote for him?

Democrats created and ran the KKK as the military wing of their Party to control Black's after the Civil War.
Federal Troops were initially in the south during 12 years of Reconstruction to assure and enforce the rights of Blacks to vote. These new laws were promised by Linclon and passed by REPUBLICANS in Congress in the Republican written and introduced 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments! They were made law on January 31, 1865, and ratified on December 6, 1865.
However, when Federal troops Left after Reconstruction, Democrats began voting the Republicans that upheld the laws out of office. They replaced Republicans with Democrats. The Democrat created and controlled KKK threated and intimidated Blacks to keep them from voting in significant numbers.
These Democrats in office also created unfair literacy tests and other laws that discouraged and limited Blacks from voting in number or obtaining political office.
Educate yourself on the truth and look up, BRIA 12 2 b Race and Voting in the Segregated South, on the internet, and learn how Republicans and Linclon's Federal Troops inforced the rights for Blacks to vote. The result was that Blacks were voted into office and served in Washington in Congress. That changed when Federal Troops withdrew after Reconstruction 12 years later. Then the Democrats voted themselves back into power and quickly went back to their old racist tricks! Now they hate Whites, Jewish people and Christians. They were never the Party their propagandists presented them as!

They're going San Francisco way, when (if?) numbers of addicts owerwhelm their health system capacity which is already at the saturation point. Dealing with addicts is very labour intensive and very expensive policy but California alone has bigger budget for this issue than all european countries combined but very poor public health policies.

Thomas Sowell has discussed the unintended consequences of policies aimed at hiding or withholding criminal records of job applicants, including African Americans, in his works. While he is critical of racial disparities and supports equality of opportunity, he argues that such policies can backfire in ways that harm the very groups they are intended to help.
Sowell's primary concern is that **employers, in the absence of information about an applicant’s criminal record**, may resort to other forms of broad assumptions or profiling. If employers know they can't access criminal records but suspect that individuals from certain demographic groups (such as young Black men) have higher crime rates, they may avoid hiring people from those groups altogether. This can lead to more **discrimination by proxy**-not because of actual criminal records, but because employers feel they're being deprived of important information and make generalizations based on race or gender instead.
In essence, Sowell argues that **withholding relevant information** about criminal records can create mistrust and reduce employment opportunities for law-abiding individuals within those groups. He advocates for transparency and open competition where individuals can succeed based on merit rather than hidden factors or policies that may worsen stereotyping.

I don’t think in these times that pollers will get an accurate and representative sample. Therefore, I have no faith in polling, which is why we have actual elections and the counting of the ballots. At this point, I see polling as a form ripe for manipulation- ESPECIALLY exit polling. This statistical modeling as a substitute for actual reality is very deceptive, seductive, and dangerous IMHO.
