1954 LIONEL 2032 ALCO FA REBUILD - this one was a real stinker

  • I purchased this pair at Cabin Fever auction last year - in fact this might have been my first purchase through them. If you are a regular follower of the channel you know I continue to purchase from them.
    After I first got started working on these everything seemed normal - then I noticed the smell of Mildew - and then I couldn't stop smelling it when I was around the model. What I ended up doing is washing the shells, frame and trucks in soapy water. That fixed that problem.

    Great work Jeremy
    Another quality runner back on the rails. One part of the hobby that I love is being able to completely disassemble and clean/repair. It's truly amazing that these 70 year old trains can still run as if their brand new.

    Nice job on cleaning up the Erie F3’s Jeremy. Runs really smooth from what I could tell.👍

      Thanks! I want to tweak the power unit a bit more but so far I'm very happy.

    Great job again Jeremy! It’s nice to see older Postwar trains coming back to life with some good cleaning and lubrication. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Tom

    Great video Jeremy! I really like the additional details and diecast frame on the earlier version of the FA. Nice work cleaning up the running gear, you have it running very smooth. I think it would be interesting to see a comparison on pulling power versus the later stamped steel frame units. Thanks for all of the terrific videos this year Jeremy. Merry Christmas!

      Merry Christmas Brad 🎄Great idea! I have 2 other FAs in the to do pile. One of them has no magnetraction and no traction tires 😲

    Hey what type of battery does it take?

    • @TooManyHobbiesJeremy
      @TooManyHobbiesJeremy  3 місяці тому +1

      These first generation Alco FA's use a D cell batterie. The 2nd generation take a C cell

      @TooManyHobbiesJeremy OK tried a regular D battery and the horn didn't work. Guess the horn needs fixing. It's funny I totally ignored the battery cover. Silly me. Thanks.

      It's all good. Grab some test leads and hook up to the horn directly. Some of the horns I have need more frequent adjustment.

      It is interesting, seeing the design, materials, & build quality of the various engines I've worked on.
