My family took vacations in Palm Springs every year in the 70s when I was a kid. The essence and look of the city remains much the same although much more built up. Love the mid century modern look, that is so classic. Thanks for the upload!
i've never been out west i wish i could go visit but as soon as the video started i thought it was beautiful the trees look amazing all the way around such a beautiful video
seems like it would be hell on earth to live at should there be a water shortage emergency and no a/c... i guess that's why it's a driving, not a walking, tour unlike most other city tours... it kind of looks neat, almost in a sci-fi vibe where everyone lives underground or isolated from the outside but like many very affluent desert cities such as phoenix, dubai, etc. these imo are best seen and visited in the comfort of a well air conditioned vehicle... personally i would never want to live there but wouldn't mind a short visit, just to experience its unusual vibe...
Its like any other urban city in the USA... This driving tour is only concentrating on the residential areas of expensive homes and tourist spots. Its a real city with an international airport, public buses, taxis, city hall, hotels, apartment building, shopping centers, restaurants, arenas etc...
@idreskhan5597 Well, that's why air conditioning was invented... no? It's very expensive to even visit Palm Springs.. A/C bill is usually $300+ a month.
It's always the same with most north american cities. Unwalkable places where you can only move by car. Look those sidewalks !! Such beatiful places shoud filled with bicycle lanes.
California aswell The roads are very wide and clean , only this highways aswell l am seing a lots of slits . Again here's good should be paved for can seem . Although the traffic and the cars are not much . Comfortly may driver . Thanks . Fill the tank of your car in case that finishing gasoline in the car ❤❤❤❤❤.
What can I say, but in the end it is in the dessert, but always nice wheater and warm, if you are retired or work in air-conditioned rooms you can stand it.
Its only very hot from June until late October (electricity is charged slightly lower per watts because of it being in the desert compared to cities in the western part of the region). From November to May the weather is from 80/75 during the day and about 55/45 at night. Way too many tourists now even during the off season.
It's hot even with air conditioning.. We went there at night but was still hot.. 80 and 90 degrees....I don't know how they stand it even though it's a dry, dry heat..
Its not hot indoors with air conditioning on and set to 75 degrees or less... During the high season months (November to late May) the weather is perfect at about 75 to 80 degrees during the day and 55 to 45 at night.
Not sure if I like it or not. It’s nice and sunny and the mountains looks great but every house and garden looks the same and it look like there would be nothing to do there.
There is a lot to do there like in any other city. There is a downtown, there are shopping centers, colleges, art centers, restaurants, an international airport, a zoo, hospitals, jails, public buses, concerts/events... Its a resort town for the most part and its busy all year round. There is even an international film fest every year with tons of Hollywood stars attending. Also Coachella Fest and Stage Coach once a year. Janet Jackson opened her tour there in May of this year. Also, outside of Vegas, Palm Springs has a huge casino community.
I assume zoning laws or HOA made it a requirement not to have a 2-3 story houses. The ceiling / roof of the houses are low too. I guess not to block the views of mountains and trees.
not entirely true.. There are plenty of 2 and 3 story houses and town houses and apartment buildings. There are also hotels that have 12 stories or more.. One of the reasons why many houses are just one story is because the heat rises. Also the city is very strict with building codes, most houses have to have a mid century modern look including many new builds.

Very nice and interesting for me as a Munich resident to see this. Why are most houses built so low? Is that a requirement there?
Its just a pattern nothing special
Maybe also against heat?

Palm Springs is a city in Southern California.
These residences in the USA look like luxury motels here in Brazil.
oh stop it... Don't act like modern Brasilian cities don't have luxury.
Crazy to think this was under water in ancient days
I was born there now living in Seattle
Beautiful but also somehow like a ghost town. Everyone driving around in their cars. Nobody on the sidewalks.
not true... In the commercial areas there are tons of people walking around.. People usually don't walk in the residential areas.

Its because the heat rises... There are some 12+story buildings.. Some 2 story houses too. Also, the mountain views can not be blocked (city law).

highway for no cars, make one more lane bro

1 hour and half of video and only saw like 4 people walking, what a hell
Just wait until high season (January especially) when its 80 degrees outside, there will be thousands of people walking about.
