Just watched a live recording of this guy doing it solo saying it just hit gold status…and I don’t think it was more than a couple of years old. It was on every friggin where for years.
I miss the 90’s when life was good, friendships meant something, and nobody was so addicted to their phone that they couldn’t be 100% present in the moment. 😢
I'm a guitar player and I don't play a lot of songs but I'm so glad I have this one in my back pocket. Thanks JR and Dishwalla. I would totally play and sing this song at a gig, or even a campfire setting. Chords are simple and beautiful. Who wouldn't want to learn this song?
I haven’t heard this song in over 20 years. This made me very emotional to hear today. It came right back to me. Thank you for opening the time capsule! Cheers !!!
I had forgotten about this track until I saw a "Hits of the 90's" short on YT this week - it got quite a bit of air time on Triple J in Australia back then.
@@PhantomEyce Me not hearing it is maybe due to my listening preferences nowadays. 🙂 I gave up listening to radio here a few years ago (too predictable), so I don't get to hear much unless it's on YT, etc. I doubt we would hear this track on Triple J now - they tend to focus on newer and unconventional artists. For example, in the early 2000's they played a lot of Coldplay (who were an emerging band at the time), but I doubt they would play anything from Coldplay now as they're more "mainstream".
Just a beautiful song as I’m sitting here listening to it and I see the date is 1996 I realize there’s no way we have time figured out yet. Enjoy the moment.
Must have been mid afternoon I could tell by how far the child's shadow stretched out And he walked with a purpose in his sneakers, down the street He had many questions like children often do He said, "Tell me all your thoughts on God And tell me am I very far?" Must have been late afternoon On our way the sun broke free of the clouds We count only blue cars, skip the cracks in the street And ask many questions like children often do We said, "Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I would really like to meet her And ask her why we're who we are Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I am on my way to see her So tell me am I very far, am I very far now?" It's getting cold picked up the pace How our shoes make hard noises in this place Our clothes are stained We pass many cross-eyed people And ask many questions Like children often do Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I would really like to meet her And ask her why we're who we are Tell me all your thoughts on God 'Cause I am on my way to see her So tell me am I very far, am I very far now? (Tell me all your thoughts on God) Am I very far now? Am I very far now? (Tell me all your thoughts on God) (Tell me all your thoughts on God)
Nah 😀 The absolute complete cutie is at 3:48 to 3:52 - just to the left of JR's head in the middle distance, and just above the vertical part of the microphone stand at the drums. Blonde / red hair, she's leaning forward and bopping along to the track - looks like she's having a great time. 😁
a truly underrated classic

Was this one of the best 90s songs or what ??
One of them, yes. Creed, Candelbox, and a few other 90's bands had some great hits too.
