Nicole Goh imo i don’t think DIA got better, maybe with lines but MBK really only pushes Chaeyeon and Jueun, especially with choreography since Chaeyeon is always in the center (Shoutout to Yebin, Somyi, and one of the mentors for calling MBK out on that LMAO). They really shouldn’t be giving her lines that everyone knows she can’t sing live at all. They did a good job with Will You Go Out With Me, though I wish it was a different song they used to debut Somyi and Jueun becuase that song is just really special to OT7 for me LOL
Actually it's pretty much still Gugudan, not Sejeong ft. whatever. The other members combined actually have more lines than her and make around 58.6% of the line distribution while Sejeong is at 41.4%. This means if you would remove Sejeong's lines you'd still be left with around half of the song. Actually more than half of it if you include the drance break and the parts where everyone sings. Sure Sejeong has many lines, but they actually don't even make half of the song so I think you're all overreacting a bit 😅 I'm not even a hardcore Gugudan stan or anything (not Sejeong, either just to clarify) I just wanted to have said that.

I hope jellyfish rethink this. Part of Sejeong fans doesn't even care about the other girls. These guys doesn't deserve this kind of gift. We don't want a 4minute situation all over again, right? If this continues, people will not even know their names, they'll call the other members 'Gugudan' even if the group becomes famous... At least the public in the music shows is kind to them. I felt like "A Girl Like Me" was Nayoung's era, and "Wonderland" was Mina's. "Chococo" might be for either Mimi or Hana. This song "The Boots" might be Sejeong's, but it's just a guess.
Well, I actually didn't think their line distribution would get any worse. Their original line distributions are already bad as they are, since members like Sally have been getting an average of about 6 seconds on their songs and it hasn't improved. Now, the 6-second plague has spread to everyone but Sejeong.

At this point, you're actually wrong. Sejeong sings nearly half of the song, but if you see it logically, the other members combined actually have more lines than her. On top of that, these 58.6% of the song that the other members sang was actually fairly distributed between them so it isn't "almost only Sejeong singing" I just felt like I needed to say that.
I think it's a one off. Maybe when they were distributing the lines whoever did it preferred her voice or they decided to see what putting Sejeong in a lot more did to sales or something? She is a main vocal but there must be a couple of other main vocals too (I'm a casual fan so don't even know everyone's names yet). I found it strange but idk I'm just hoping there's a reason.
FZ F I don't know their names either but Sejeong has had the most lines in almost all of their songs if not all of them. There could be many reasons for that one being that she's the main vocal, or, like you said the composer just preferred her voice. Either way, it's nothing to be upset about.

I think that each member record the entire song, but in the end the producer choose which member to put in each part based on what fits best, or based on what the company wants

Sejeong’s second part shouldve been given to Soyee or other member, and the chorus shouldve sung by 2 main/lead vocal. Soyee basically sings at really last part. Song is good but kinda cringe at the line distribution.

Line distribution is bad but I think Jellyfish is getting nervous since they girls haven't won anything thus far, so they're pushing Sejeong (who everyone knows). I also read that Soyee didn't want to push herself hard, so while I'm upset about the lack of lines she got, it kinda makes sense. It's a good song, too bad the distribution was so off. Either way, I hope gugudan gets a first win with this!!

Andre Drew I agree with you but from the perspective of Jelpi, I'd still focus on pushing Sejeong. She literally shot herself to stardom overnight up against Somi who already came with a fandom lol there's undeniable star power in her. Mina can rap and sing a bit, but unless it's a promotional song with a lot of intense dancing, I don't see why they'd push her (and even then, Sally would also have a right to be the center there). Nayoung is absolutely wonderful at singing but her tone is a little more unique which makes it harder to market. I wish they would've given her more lines here though for sure!! Sejeong is a competent vocalist who has proven herself capable of singing multiple styles successfully and even doing well as a soloist. Even though her drama wasn't super successful, people still praised her. She gets the most gigs, she gets pushed. (Also sorry if this was long or seemed rude I just can /really/ understand Jellyfish although I still think it's unfair)

Andre Drew I think whoever did the vocal arrangement didn't think it through either though. They could've had the chorus broken up and sung as individual lines to make it more even. Even if Sejeong gets all the other lines she got , it'd be at least a little more balanced. Literally any of their vocalists could've handled the chorus. Soyee is trying to ease her way back into performing (which makes sense because she's been out of practice and we dont want her to strain) but her or Haebin could've handled it for sure at the absolute least. But gugudan has great vocalists overall so this is trash lmao

Kyungie Ryu Sejeong has always been Gugudan’s breadwinner, even before debut. But the company never did this “Sejeong and friends” before. Idk why they decided to push Sejeong this much out of sudden.
Thuy Trang Jelpi prob never thought gugudan would fall behind Sejeong so bad. They probably thought that Mina and Sejeong's popularity would help the group get attention in the beginning and while they did, Wonderland still flopped. Flower Road did way better than gugudan's songs and while Mina's popularity kind of faded, Sejeong is still on the rise. They still tried to promote gugudan as a whole up until Chococo, but recently Sejeong got herself I think 3 year end awards which is probably the turning point.
Maybe they are learning from weki meki. Fantagio really pushing yoojung and doyeon and it looks pretty effective as their debut album was the highest selling of girl group debut 2017.

I was literally so hyped for this song but the distribution killed it for me. I honestly can’t be happy about this comeback...I love and respect Sejeong’s talents so much, but this distribution is just ugly. Don’t waste all these other girls’ talents like this, Jellyfish. This group is more than just her- there’s so much potential to this group that you’ll never unlock if you don’t look past her.

But this is the song that will appeal the public. How come you introduce 9 girls if it's just one girl that will get the spotlight..? Like main vocals has the most lines in the fairest distribution, the rappers shine in their own raps with some words that nicely-thrown within some lines, the dancers get their own time to showcase how they moves, and the visuals gets to center the most. Sure it sounds hard but it should have been like this. It's the management works. They should think how it should be done. Look at seventeen. They have many members but they distribute their parts fairly well.
Pheina in sejeong's case, i don't think she will drag some unnecessary hates. She's got a positive image so it's not a big deal. The real problem is, sejeong will grow bigger, outshine the other girls and people will see gugudan as sejeong and the girls. Me too, i like her a lot, she is funny, adorable, amazign in singing and variety shows but i'm pretty sure that the rest of girls has talents also and i want to see them. Not in their private variety show (but that would be cool also) but in others where they can meet other idols and interact with them.

Next comeback if you get the need of giving all the lines to Sejeong and leave the other main vocals doing adlibs only or the need to give all the screen time to her or having her in the center in most of the choreography just kick her out of the group and debut her as a solo. Haebin, the 1st main vocal, don’t deserve this treatment and Soyee, the 3rd main vocal neither does. Also a lot of Sejeong lines could be given to Nayoung or Hyeyeon specially Nayoung because the song really fits her voice. Im not sejeong biased, but I expected her to be the one with more screentime and lines (of course that being the one with most lines doesnt mean I expected her to sing almost half of the song) my biases are mina and nayoung, I knew mina would have good parts and I didnt expected much for nayoung after chococo, but tbh I think that what didnt let me notice how disproportionate the difference is within my first two listens to the song is that I cant tell the difference in their voices most of the time with a few exceptions, im still getting familiar with them, but of course the fact I didnt noticed at first doesnt mean it is ok or fair, its very unfair and even humillating as the girls have already been asked about this, I can only hope for jelpi to do better next cb

I wasn't going to say anything bc they're from Jellyfish and I stan VIXX but this is them all over again when they just debuted but with Hyuk, the most obvious one. At least this is fairer than 'Mia's solo' in Reminiscence mini album, No Lie. In this song, even though it's really unfair, at least every members have more than 5 seconds. You can look the gap between Mia and Onda in No Lie, it's several bigger gap than The Boots (Not a hater of Everglow, I love them)

I think it is about time to do this. Everyone knows Sejeong and it is a great strategy to market the girls. And they will eventually get noticed. Ultimatekpop didn't count the choruses where everyone is singing together as lines (suggesting that the song is a full minute shorter than it is). When you add in the lines everyone sings together, it makes the line distribution less extreme. Sejeong is still out in front, but not by 30%. Here's the recalculated distribution I got by including group lines: Sejeong: 17.3% (105.5 sec) Haebin: 11.2% (68.2 sec) Mina: 10.6% (65.0 sec) Mimi: 10.4% (63.3 sec) Hana: 10.2% (62.4 sec) Nayoung: 10.2% (62.3 sec) Sally: 10.1% (61.7 sec) Soyee: 10.1% (61.6 sec) Hyeyeon: 9.9% (60.5 sec) Which is a totally FINE distribution for a 9-member group.
+saveme They definitely do not sing the chorus together in the studio version, only the stage performances. There's no way nine voices are singing that chorus, it sounds like a single person is singing with like two other persons backing them.

i love sejeong, she's my bias and shes one of my ults among female idols, but i just hope gugudan doesn't turn into a "sejeong and friends" kind of like how bts (back then) turned into "jungkook and friends" smh. i still love my goddess though.

But keep in mind that Sejeong is the one and only MAIN VOCALIST of this group since the beginning of Gugudan. Maybe the LEAD VOCALS Haebin and Soyee should have had about 10 more seconds each of Sejeong's lines, but remember that Sejeong is the Main Vocalist of Gugudan.

The other members combined actually have more lines than her and make around 58.6% of the line distribution while Sejeong is at 41.4%.
This means if you would remove Sejeong's lines you'd still be left with around half of the song. Actually more than half of it if you include the drance break and the parts where everyone sings.
Sure Sejeong has many lines, but they actually don't even make half of the song so I think you're all overreacting a bit 😅

She literally shot herself to stardom overnight up against Somi who already came with a fandom lol there's undeniable star power in her. Mina can rap and sing a bit, but unless it's a promotional song with a lot of intense dancing, I don't see why they'd push her (and even then, Sally would also have a right to be the center there). Nayoung is absolutely wonderful at singing but her tone is a little more unique which makes it harder to market. I wish they would've given her more lines here though for sure!! Sejeong is a competent vocalist who has proven herself capable of singing multiple styles successfully and even doing well as a soloist. Even though her drama wasn't super successful, people still praised her. She gets the most gigs, she gets pushed. (Also sorry if this was long or seemed rude I just can /really/ understand Jellyfish although I still think it's unfair)

Soyee is trying to ease her way back into performing (which makes sense because she's been out of practice and we dont want her to strain) but her or Haebin could've handled it for sure at the absolute least. Thuy Trang Jelpi prob never thought gugudan would fall behind Sejeong so bad. They probably thought that Mina and Sejeong's popularity would help the group get attention in the beginning and while they did, Wonderland still flopped. Flower Road did way better than gugudan's songs and while Mina's popularity kind of faded, Sejeong is still on the rise. They still tried to promote gugudan as a whole up until Chococo, but recently Sejeong got herself I think 3 year end awards which is probably the turning point.
Maybe they are learning from weki meki. Fantagio really pushing yoojung and doyeon and it looks pretty effective as their debut album was the highest selling of girl group debut 2017.

Like main vocals has the most lines in the fairest distribution, the rappers shine in their own raps with some words that nicely-thrown within some lines, the dancers get their own time to showcase how they moves, and the visuals gets to center the most. Sure it sounds hard but it should have been like this. It's the management works. They should think how it should be done.

Also a lot of Sejeong lines could be given to Nayoung or Hyeyeon specially Nayoung because the song really fits her voice. Im not sejeong biased, but I expected her to be the one with more screentime and lines (of course that being the one with most lines doesnt mean I expected her to sing almost half of the song) my biases are mina and nayoung, I knew mina would have good parts and I didnt expected much for nayoung after chococo, but tbh I think that what didnt let me notice how disproportionate the difference is within my first two listens to the song is that I cant tell the difference in their voices most of the time with a few exceptions, im still getting familiar with them, but of course the fact I didnt noticed at first doesnt mean it is ok or fair, its very unfair and even humillating as the girls have already been asked about this, I can only hope for jelpi to do better next cb

I wasn't going to say anything bc they're from Jellyfish and I stan VIXX but this is them all over again when they just debuted but with Hyuk, the most obvious one.
Gugudan started pretty well, only Sally (if I'm not mistaken) who had the least line but that was bc she wasn't 100% fluent in Korean yet. I can cope with that, ok. And then in Chococo a lot of them had pretty sane number of lines, including Hyeyeon who had the least one here. But now, wth even Haebin sang one line and did some high notes and that's it? What's the point of being the main vocal then? Sejeong is honestly my bias, loved her since IOI but seriously, she's not promoting solo, there are 8 other members here. What are they for, backup dancers? With VIXX, only Hyuk had this noticeable problem long ago but he's improved so much and they all have the amount of lines they deserve. With Gugudan, they were doing fine before now it's just mostly Sejeong? Are you going backwards now, Jellyfish? Instead of one member not having the lines she deserves, only one member gets the most lines and the rest all share what's left. The comments I read abt the other members having more lines distribution compared to Sejeong alone and having to share the proportions is bs bc what abt Sejeong's part? Why doesn't she have to share? At least this is fairer than 'Mia's solo' in Reminiscence mini album, No Lie. In this song, even though it's really unfair, at least every members have more than 5 seconds. You can look the gap between Mia and Onda in No Lie, it's several bigger gap than The Boots (Not a hater of Everglow, I love them)

I think it is about time to do this. Everyone knows Sejeong and it is a great strategy to market the girls. And they will eventually get noticed. Their lines on their past songs were distributed TOO EQUALLY that makes the knetz sleeping on them. I loved their songs from debut to now and I believe they should win in this comeback. And im so happy that Jellyfish did this. After they get wins on this comeback, their next songs will be distributed fairly since knetz already paid attention to gugudan.

Ultimatekpop didn't count the choruses where everyone is singing together as lines (suggesting that the song is a full minute shorter than it is). When you add in the lines everyone sings together, it makes the line distribution less extreme. Sejeong is still out in front, but not by 30%. Here's the recalculated distribution I got by including group lines:
Sejeong: 17.3% (105.5 sec)
Haebin: 11.2% (68.2 sec)
Mina: 10.6% (65.0 sec)
Mimi: 10.4% (63.3 sec)
Hana: 10.2% (62.4 sec)
Nayoung: 10.2% (62.3 sec)
Sally: 10.1% (61.7 sec)
Soyee: 10.1% (61.6 sec)
Hyeyeon: 9.9% (60.5 sec)
Which is a totally FINE distribution for a 9-member group.

Please Do not blame Sejeong. I know this distribution is inaccurate but I do not think Sejeong has the right to decide. I think Jellyfish wants to push Sejeong to promote Gugudan. As other companies do with AOA, EXID and MissA.

i love sejeong, she's my bias and shes one of my ults among female idols, but i just hope gugudan doesn't turn into a "sejeong and friends" kind of like how bts (back then) turned into "jungkook and friends" smh. i still love my goddess though.

But keep in mind that Sejeong is the one and only MAIN VOCALIST of this group since the beginning of Gugudan. Maybe the LEAD VOCALS Haebin and Soyee should have had about 10 more seconds each of Sejeong's lines, but remember that Sejeong is the Main Vocalist of Gugudan.
