thank you for the tutorial, as an Affinity Photo user I feel that it is a better editor and as AF is progressing with new ownership I hope that they will soon be offering an AI addition to their software.
I've heard rumors (mostly on Twitter and their forum), that Affinity plans to add AI-based tools that should simplify some tasks! Hopefully, Select Subject is one of them. Though no generative AI is planned. I wonder if they can re-use Apple's Select Subject feature that is available throughout the system. That would be at least something.
Great points. I would bet they are working on it as they are being left behind. Incredible how long it is taking. I guess they didn’t have the AI skillset before being bought over. I think they have to build their own select subject else how can it work on their Windows version if they use Apple libraries. They should implement generative ai at least for object removal or replacement to be competitive with Adobe. As they are with Canva, they should be able to use Magic Studio which has those features.
@@takebetterphotos8132 I hope that Canva pushes forward Affinity’s capabilities at least a bit, yes! I guess, they would not want their MacOS version to be different from Windows version, but at the same time, if they could improve feature set at least for some users, for example through official plugin, that would be amazing.
They really should. In fact, instead of endlessly posting discounts in their social media (which is welcome), they should start posting major feature additions for Affinity Photo. They haven't done a meaningful upgrade since 2022!

It is worth it if you learn to use the software properly! Most people who complain about Adobe's prices are using the programs poorly because they don't really know them!

Apple's Select Subject feature - not much use to Win users, thus creating a 2 Tier product which is incredibly hard to market.
