I know everyone finds the beatboxing super cool in the English one and if you don’t know Chinese, it’s easy to think of it as “old man opera,” but I actually really love how earnest and powerful his singing is-since I understand Mandarin (but not perfectly), it sounds less like “old man opera” and more like he’s gearing up for a rock song lol. He sounds so self-satisfied when he’s talking about his gift to you. 😂
I also don't understand why people think it sounds like old man opera. To me it quite clearly sounds like rock, esp the last part, it sounds so good for a glam rock version of the song!

According to him, he was instructed to sing the song in a crappy opera style, but Max said "can I beatbox?" or smth like that. The sound director wasn't sure what Max meant, so he beatboxed, and the sound director loved it, and put it in the game. Also, Max said if he were to re-record, he'd change a few parts of the beatbox, especially the "owa owa" part. All of this info is from Aether's EN VA's Genshin stream.
