Little known fact, the movie was created when the director spotted Tom Cruise going down to a mental hospital to harass the patients and thought 'this would be a great movie.'
UA-cam recommended me the steven segal video from this channel earlier this week even though I have never listened to this podcast before. Sometimes the algorithm smiles on you.
Same here, an episode randomly appeared about a week ago. I had never heard or seen anything at all of cumtown before that. I can’t stop watching it now. I’m curious what the analytics show as far as their views and subs and such in the last 2 weeks. 🤔
His character is resentful of himself and what happened between him and his father. That kind of feeling builds up a lot over decades especially in a time where mental health wasn’t as prioritized as it is today. Also, people in the 80’s didn’t know how to deal with or connect with autistic people, they just considered them retards and looked at them as subhumans. He didn’t know how to deal with his feelings and confusion, and being pushed out of his comfort zone. Decades of resentment changes you; makes you do and think terrible things. Still, not an excuse for his character being an asshole. But still, gotta look at it from his point of view.
I want a feature length remake staring Nick as both Charlie and Ray Babbitt and then Stav as the sexy foreign wench. Adam can be a gay bug or something I don’t care
I think it’s because it sounds like Tom Cruise is unable to understand that people can be autistic and that there are places for the autistic. Like the concept is too hard to understand.
After watching the Seagal video I decided I would consume this channel's content very slowly. Watching one video per week. This is the third video I watch and I'm happy
Tom Cruise's business is collapsing, and when he finds out he doesn't get any inheritance, he gets pissed. After finding out about Dustin Hoffman, he abducts him in order to get his money back. They bond on the way, Tom Cruise refuses an offer from the chief doctor to get $100000 or whatever if he returns Hoffman. They go to Vegas where they count cards (due to autism genius), make some money and get thrown out. In the mean time, Tom Cruise repairs his relationship with his neglected girlfriend. In the end there's a hearing where custody over Hoffman will be determined: whether his brother gets him (and the money), or the asylum. Up to this point Hoffman has expressed interest to stay with Cruise, but during the hearing it is revealed that he has no concept of what that will actually entail. Cruise backs off the case for the sake of Hoffman's well-being, and they part ways at the end, with Cruise promising he'll come visit Hoffman at the asylum. I think he gets some money in the end anyway, or manages to keep enough casino profits to keep his business just afloat.
@@dajilus2410 Fucking nailed it. Just the idea that Tom Cruise's character doesn't understand the concept of mentally disabled people even existing, let alone there being an establishment devoted to their care. As if he sees these people as aliens and he's flustered and confused all at once.
It would take a long time, but see if you could put a bunch of wrestling and drama TV show clips or something over their "writing session" for The Chris Benoit Story. One of their most ridiculously funny segments that just delivers and delivers.
Personally I love Rain Man. It's actually inspired by a real person named Kim Peek, who had a mental disability with an amazing capacity for memory. He could memorize an entire phone-book, with telephone-numbers, names, and addresses of thousands of people. He could also read a book two pages at a time, using one eye for each page. Sadly he passed in 2009. Edit: BTW I still loved the video though :D
