From what I remember, Agatha Christie's disappearance was a lot more straight forward, it's suggested she went on a major spa holiday to treat herself following her husband's affair.
Random thing I learned while doing a paper on Agatha Christie, she signed the guest book of the hotel she turned up at with the surname of her husband's mistress.
Agatha's second husband was an archaeologist, who she travelled with. She got married to him here in Edinburgh, and visited the spot, which was quite cool.
What I like about this episode is it is a fun self contained story that is fun. Also taught me a lot about Agitha Christie as a kid. Also the Unicorn is played by Felicity Jones who is in Star Wars Rouge One and a Monster Calls. Also that film about the hot air balloon haha
0:54 but why didn’t they ask….heavens? Or ‘why didn’t they ask Evans’. The dialogue in this episode is filled to the brim with Agatha Christie novel titles. Cat amongst the pigeons, murder on the Orient express, why didn’t they ask Evans, dead man’s folly, the body in the library, they do it with mirrors, appointment with death, sparkling cyanide, crooked house, so many more it’s so camp I love it.
Don't forget Murder at the Vicarage 'murder at the vicars rage' as the Doctor puts it here. One of my personal favourite episodes this one. Agatha Christie is pretty local to where I live so we have a whole museum about her
If you hadn't worked it out yet, the Unicorn was Felicity Jones, she's a big actor now so she's probably been in a lot. But if you know Star Wars at all, she was Jyn Erso in Rogue One.
Yeah, I made a note in the video that I hadn't yet recorded the reaction for Rogue One, but I actually did like the next week or something so the timing was funny.
When I was younger (about 3 when I saw this episode live), my favourite episodes were always the goofiest, so it's not a surprise that this used to be up there for me for a while. The fact that this follows on from 'The Doctor's Daughter' aswell signifies how versatile the tone of the show can be; there's really no other show quite like this.
You were on top of this one! As an Agatha Christie fan, I found this one to be great fun. The actress that played Agatha Christie has been in lots of projects with David, going way back.
I like the short episode after this where they go to her hospital bed where she's older and show her that book with the date 5billion. It was very emotional.
I love this one too, I rewatch any of the episodes to be fair (apart from the Lazarus) What I love is the show picks up on current news trends like the bees disappearing and make it something else
one of the things i love about this episode is the very subtle foreshadowing that the Priest (Reverend? i can't remember exactly) is the killer because during the alibi/flashback sequence, he's the ONLY one who's flashback matched EXACTLY what he said
Fenella Woolgar, who plays Christie here, was also in Stephen Fry's _Bright Young Things._ David Tennant (and Michael Sheen, who co-stars with Tennant in _Good Omens)_ was also in this film.
@@AndrewJamesGordon I love how, in one episode Peter Capaldi played a role and David Suchet said it was one of his favorite episode to film because of Peter and many years later David played a guesst role in Doctor Who during Capaldi's run and I love how they talked about how much they enjoyed that reunion. So much respect they have for each other.
@@AndrewJamesGordon Hercule. But don't watch their adaptation of _Murder of Roger Ackroyd_ until after you read the book; it really wrecks it. _The Five Little Pigs_ is a good one.
"Professor Peach.... can't hear the name Peach without thinking of ...." Yes, it reminds you of the game Clue (or Cluedo as it's called in our Country) " ... Princess Peach." Ohw we are so from a different generation, here. XD My son saw this episode and in the same week, his English teacher, to prepare the class for going to a schooltrip to England, the subject that month was writers and ofcourse he already knew a lot about Shakespeare but the teacher wanted to know who knew about Agatha Christie and he was the only one who could tell things about her, even that she dissapeared for 10 days and all, he just left the giant wasp out (and other silly things) but his teacher was impressed, while he was just so lucky.
LOL... no, it definitely reminded me of Clue as well after he was killed in the library with a lead pipe. lol That's so funny about the timing of that with your son. He was smart to leave out the part about the wasp. lol
The only other thing i've seen Felicity Jones was the 1998 tv adaptation of The Worst Witch Series 1 (not the new one) & Weirdsister College which is a spin off of The Worst Witch.
@@BritanyBinges It predates JK Rowling's Harry Potter, surprised to hear someone who has never heard of The Worst Witch. it started as a book series with the first book published in 1974 way before the first Harry Potter book in 1997. Recently Jill Murphy the author of the Worst Witch books passed away about a year after the 2017 tv adaptation ended which was sad to hear. I feel like even the funny/filler/silly episodes of RTD’s run are still better than anything Chibnall did, the characters are better written and it just makes more sense
While not without it's flaws, I've actually been really enjoying Chibnall's era. It's not my favorite, but it's not bad. I'm two episodes into series 13 right now on Patreon and 13x1 is one of my favorite series openers so far.
Sort of. I can't let the full episode play without editing it in some way because that's against the law. I experimented with a few different formats in the beginning, but for the past year (maybe closer to a year and a half) the format has been to have a countdown at the beginning of the video (same as the one in at the beginning of the videos here on YT), and then let the episode play for 30 seconds. After those 30 seconds, I silence the episode audio and put a blur filter over the video so you can still see shapes, but not details. So, you do need to have the episode open in another window, or on a different device. But the countdown at the beginning, the blurred footage, and ability to download the video make it about as easy as I possibly can to watch the episode alongside my reaction. It honestly sounds far more complicated than it really is. I've had multiple Patrons tell me that how I do it is actually the easiest/their favorite method of all the reactors they're a patron for.
From what I remember, Agatha Christie's disappearance was a lot more straight forward, it's suggested she went on a major spa holiday to treat herself following her husband's affair.
'Oh that's too salty' is still one of my fave Donna quotes 😂
Camp town races!
Fun fact, the actor who plays the butler is David Tennants father
I love how the doctor has time to comment on donna's guesses but doesnt just tell her what he needs one of my favorite gags 🤣🤣
Easily one of the funniest scenes in the entire show. 😂
Random thing I learned while doing a paper on Agatha Christie, she signed the guest book of the hotel she turned up at with the surname of her husband's mistress.
The timing of this comment is funny because I just reacted to my first Agatha Christie story (And Then There Were None) over on Patreon this week. lol
12:39 Best shocked face i've seen in a long while. Great reaction. 😮
The most fun in this episode is counting the Agatha Christie book titles mentioned in each conversation😀
Of course it can’t bee, it’s a wasp.🐝
I absolutely love this episode! It's so fun and the Doctor is on a whole other level of energy and querkiness.
It's definitely a fun episode, that's for sure. That kitchen is still one of the funniest scenes in the entire show.
Agatha's second husband was an archaeologist, who she travelled with. She got married to him here in Edinburgh, and visited the spot, which was quite cool.
Fair play to you, the “toilet” and the 40 years old bit was a clever catch. You should become a detective! Haha 😅
