This episode was really freaky on its own - freaky enough that I certainly had no hint of a subtext when I first watched it. Although on re-watch the signals on the existence of a subtext are blaringly loud, even if it isn't apparent what the subtext is. Great stuff, and great reaction, thank you for inviting us along.
@@iz723 -- SPOILERS -- The Doctor suspects something is wrong w/ Amy, and further suspects that Amy has been replaced with a Flesh ganger. So he DELIBERATELY came to this location, to learn more about the Flesh.
They don't see their own dopplegangers because the 'gangers usually require them to be in the metal frame thingies (sorry to get all technical) in order to move. Combine that with the gangers losing form without constant input, and any attempt to see your own ganger ends with you looking at a puddle of ice cream. Or marshmallow. I'm 98% certain the first time the Doctor was referring to for the cockerel line was in Vampires of Venice. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Come on now, its Dusty Springfield! Son of a preacher man? You don't have to say you love me? I just dont know what to do with myself??? Classic 60s songs I know lol they were ancient when even I was born
I wasn't actually going to say I love you, but thanks. Try taking up a hobby if you don't know what to do with yourself. Oh, and tell your dad I'll see him in church.
Raquel Cassidy who played Cleaves was previously in BBC political drama "Party Animals" with Matt Smith. I met her once while she was appearing in the Jack Dee sitcom "Lead Balloon"!
Why can't there be two Doctors? Actually, there already is; the one we follow on adventures & the one living a human life span with Rose in an alternate universe. As long as the new Doctors are limited as such, there's really no danger of the universe being overpopulated with Doctors, so...
"As long as the new Doctors are limited as such" Which (with a big heaping of revisionism) is a good explanation for the Time Lords setting an arbitrary limit on the number of regenerations. If you don't live forever, the chances of you running into yourself by stumbling across your own timeline are significantly reduced, and it also cuts down on the chances of stumbling across one of your variants as well (or of having variants in the first place, since you will have less time available within your lifespan in which to spawn variants). Surprisingly clever, these Time Lords.
@@thepandorica1660 IIRC (it's been a long time since I watched any of the earlier multi-Doctor episodes), wasn't it against the rules to interact with your previous self, but special dispensation was given due to exigent circumstances?
Mine has been having some glitches itself which is worrying to me as I've not had it long. This was an odd episode to me, somehow much different than previous episodes.
I doubt it - this episode came out in 2011, was probably filmed in late 2010/early 2011, and Guardians of the Galaxy released in 2014, so was probably filmed around 2012/2013

Whats the subtext?

@dondumitru7093 That's not subtext. Thats a plotline

But the gangers would routinely see their original selves standing in the frames, so it would be exceedingly common to experience looking at yourself.
Can't be two Doctors - Mind flashes to a naked 10th Doctor talking to Donna, while the clothed 10th Doctor is with Jack and Rose.
This is not the first time the Doctor has had doppelgangers.
Classic Who spoiler warnings (for new viewers obvs)

All of this was jibberish to me. lol I don't really know much music before the 80s.
getting to the big twist next time. so much great set up this season

Can't wait for part 2!
Thank you, Britany! ⏳
Hahaa I live about 30 minutes from the Isle of Sheppey..if the locals are all gangers it would explain a lot 😂

Not only that, but we had 5 in the 'Time Crash' minisode with 10

We also had the Abbot of ambroise from "The Massacre" and Salamander from "The Enemy of the World" if they count.
Because he's the Doctor.
Jen's got a heck of a scream.
3:18 Maybe she got the role of Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy by this point and this was a wig?

Questions at the end of a two parter? lol
Ah yes.Dusty Springfield the new singing sensation.😉😉
it going to hit the fan on the next one :/
wig, was she filming Guardians of the Galaxy at this time?
Yes I think so

Not my favorite. The supporting characters are thinly written.
