0:07 Good to see you back. Enjoying your videos. I finished and maidened my 1/4 H9 DVII last october. Fabulous flyer. No bad habits even on landing roll out. Will be hitting the 2024 warbird circuit here in Texas. You are a master of the spray can. I use Balsa USA nicopress, turnbuckles and wire for rigging. Really nice.
I like all your videos. Mine is still in the bones. I still have ways to go now. This video that you just showed us game a lot of nice tips. Thank you so much
The first Fokker built DVIIs (number 227 thru 507) did not have bracing wire from the horizontal stab to the vertical fin. These wires first show up in historical photos in the first Alb built DVIIs (number 527) and were on all subsequent DVIIs. The bracing under the horizontal stabilizers were streamline tubing.
Jeff, This Balsa USA D.VII kit isn't anywhere close to scale. A Procter kit is closer to scale and would encourage me to build clser to scale. I't was a freebie that someone started, and was poorly assembled before it was given to me. The vert stab was way to flimsy for me to not reinforce it. I do admire your knowledge on the history of the D.VII. Thanks for sharing the info.
I have done that in the past if needed. Having the wire close the the jaws will pull heat out of the wire and not let the solder wick farther up the wire than is necessary. I should let viewers know in further vids why I have it as close as I do. Many thanks!
Hey, Bud. That looks like a nice clean build. We seem to have similar tastes in airplanes, you and I. By the way, I know that Taylorcraft. That's a Bob Nelitz design, is it not? I saw the prototype at the QSAA meet back in the day. Museum quality, inside and out. Best in show that year. I have photos! Looking forward to your next one. Blue skies!
Switched to wood glue for hinges. Makes cleanup so much easier
Three more months... I haven't even covered my Winter build yet. Yikes!
Thanks for the detailed look at how you make tail wires!

Very well-done and helpful video. Thanks!
