  • Time to level up your face and shoulder milling operations with the new CoroMill® MF80, a reliable tool for milling applications in ISO K and P materials. This concept offers a lightweight cutter body with shim protection ensuring secure, vibration-free cutting, as well as a more cost-efficient production in close to 90-degree operations with fixture constraints.

    I presume these are made of aluminium hence the lower mass. My initial thoughts were that the lower elastic modulus of aluminium will compromise tool stiffness, but on the other hand, the lower mass at the end of the tool (which is basically a cantilever beam) improves the dynamic response of the system. Are there any drawbacks to using an aluminium cutter body?

      The tools are made of regular steel we use for all our other milling concepts. It’s just the improved design of the tool body profile makes it lighter which improves the dynamic response (as you have described). Aluminum cutter body will not be suitable for roughing applications in ISO P & K material due to high chip load as well as abrasive nature of the chips.

      @@sandvikcoromant I see, thanks for the information! I should've known that an aluminium body wouldn't hold up to roughing steel and cast iron, I must have been thinking of CoroMill Century (which I believe is only for finishing?). I like the idea of lightweighting by design rather than just using a lower density material, great stuff.

    Концепт фрезы весьма интересен, но… разве она предназначена только для обработки плоскостей? Или обозначение MF подразумевает milling face? Видимо деталь не самая показательная… Ждём новых видео!

      Yes… MF stands for Milling Face. The concept is designed for all face milling applications and non-repeated shoulder milling applications up to 6 mm depth of cut in ISO P & ISO K materials.

    Can the same cutting parameter apply on a less rigidity/power machine? Say a 11/15 kw BT40 VMC

      @sandvikcoromant  Рік тому +2

      Considering the cutting data at 75% engagement this application will consume approximately 8.4 kw power at 1112 RPM. So if the machine is capable to deliver the same then certainly it can be used. For BT40 machines the maximum diameter of the cutter shouldn’t exceed 80 mm for Torque availability.
