I can't believe I found this! First time I heard it on BFBS whilst living in Cologne almost 30 years ago now (listening to British radio was one of the ways I got to learn and practice my English). Over the years I tried to find it, to no avail. Just now I was listening to something that reminded me of Part1 and I googled Ed Alleyne-Johnson's name. Didn't get the Alleyne part right, but there he was. Super happy about having found it.
Same here! I heard it on a late night radio show about 30 years ago, I actually was recording it onto cassette and I kept playing it on that crappy cassette on my Walkman. Many years later I bought the CD.
TRIVIA : He actually made the Purple violin himself in his own kitchen ! I too have met him he's the most charming and humble guy you could ever meet ! He doesn't just busk for money for himself ! His portable echo machine requires heavy duty Duracell batteries that don't last very long ! ( so he's actually paying out of his own pocket each time he performs outside ) so next time you hear him perform ! Show him your appreciation ! ❤🙏
First time I heard of him and his music was about 15 years ago while teaching English in Iquitos, Peru. Our books were published by Oxford press and a CD of him was included.
First heard this in the 90's overlooking Skiathos harbour. Managed to buy it in London but lost it over the years. Saw Ed playing live in York and he told me that it was just being released on Amazon. Love it! 😁👍
I heard the man himself play this live in Liverpool. It was amazing. The acoustics were just perfect as was his playing. I bought a copy of the CD from him - we had a chat about the bizzies trying to stop him selling his cds and we should be a bit secret about it - best backhander deal ever hahaha I hope this man is still wowing and moving people with his music and skills and YES, the violin was actually Purple lol
My brother was in his class at senior school (Liverpool Bluecoat) - he was also a very good artist and everyone thought that was the route he was going as he went to Oxford uni to study art ... then the violin took over.
Je me suis abonné.

Music name came from the greek goddesses muses which were protectors of all arts. I think Ed Alleyne -Johnson met them in the dreams and revealed him this masterpiece.

Same here! Living close to Cologne I heard it some 30 years ago on the BFBS in the legendary Bob-Harris-Show. Luckily I snatched it, recorded it then.

One of the greatest, one of the less known, one of the misunderstood, one of the enemies of the industry of music...the ONLY one who made such a sound.

I first heard him at the bottom of bold street and bought his CD. That was 20 years ago. It still gives me goosebumps hearing this piece of music.

Escuché por primera vez esta pieza musical que me encoge el alma en un programa d radio llamado "música privada". Y me obsesioné con ella.
