I always found it weird that Peter and company forced Dylan out of Brian's life because he was being a douche only to turn around and call him a bad dad.
It was huge dick move and could go wrong, think about it, Dylan wasn't being annoying anymore and was behaving and going to school to get a better life and they had a problem with Brian and they didn't factor that Tracy could just refuse Dylan

You ask older viewers to help you with pop culture references you aren't familiar with, and yet you pretend to know what your talking about when suggesting a Superman story about an accidental pregnancy would be a good idea....this example, combined with your open acknowledgement of knowing nothing about Star Wars suggests to me that it may be best NOT to comment on things you don't understand. For the record, if you ask a Star Wars UA-camr who knows what their talking about, they could easily explain Darth Maul in roughly 5-10 minutes or so.

It is funny how Quagmire out of all people called him out as a failure of a father. Hypocritical, but he wasn’t entirely wrong.

That’s the thing: a lot of that speech Quagmire gives Brian is stereotypical, and Quagmire even calls himself out in it. But that’s why it hits so hard: it’s one asshole of a person who looks at another who he sees as worse than him, because this guy is either in denial of his douchebagery or completely unaware of it, and while he tries to be a “decent person” it’s done in a way that clearly shows he’s trying to virtue signal as much as possible. Brian’s a prideful, selfish, vindictive, self-righteous, boring asshole who refuses to actually try to fix himself. And by that point we were getting more hints of Quagmire seemingly cutting down on the antics he was normally known for. So maybe Quagmire was actually trying to make a change for himself and seeing Brian reminds him of all the things he hates or wants to improve on himself, and seeing him not try to improve on any of them genuinely or consistently is what triggers his aggression for him. His stagnancy of character is what makes him boring because Quagmire, along with everyone else, is used to his shit just as much as he is sick of it

When it comes to Brian abandoning his son, I think it’s more about how he just lost contact with him the second he walked out the door. In that way he did abandon him emotionally because he now knew he had a son and had a relationship with him but chose to disconnect due to convenience.
Yes, that is what I got to. The characters call Brian a bad father because Brian never stayed in contact with him afterwards. Dylan didn’t need to live with Brian in order for them to have a relationship. The fact that Dylan even points out how he never heard from Brian until he became an actor shows he didn’t choose to end contact with him.

How is Dylan even Brian's son? I don't see no dog ears or tail on that kid. They could've done a DNA test first.
Also this is me venting but Brian does not deserve Dylan, granted Brian helped Dylan in his debut episode but he has not been there for him unless it's to benefit him (like my own father). Never once has Brian called, video chatted, or even invited Dylan or Tracey to any family events, barbecues, Thanksgiving or Christmas. But these are just my thoughts let me know what you guys think.

I don't believe Dylan is actually Brian's son. First of all Dylan was 13 when they first met, and Brian was 7-8. Second, in the episode when Stewie gives birth to his and Brian's kids, they are human dog hybrids. So even going by the show's own logic it doesn't make sense. Dylan isn't his son, so I hold nothing against him over this

I’m surprised Dylan doesn’t appear more considering he’s voiced by the same actor who voices Chris. He really should get more screen time or address the fact he’s a human and how the genetics work in this world for a dog to be his dad

Doug Henning was a magician from the 70s who ran his show The World of Magic until 2000 when he died. He had a mustache, curly mullet, and yeah his upper teeth were pretty prominent.

pretty sure tracy was just a bop who didn’t know which one of the many men she slept with was the father so she threw him on brian since he was the first one to come back….no way brian has a human son with absolutely no canine features (i know it’s a cartoon)
Honestly I would wanna have that called out.... Additionally... If Brian was 10 at that point in the series, Dylan was 13, and unless time travel was explicitly mentioned... See where I'm going? Brian just got written badly into this situation. Have Dylan be 8, hell, a 9 year old may work but 13 just doesn't work with the timeline at all even by Family Guy standards.
So, when they call out Brian for "abandoning" Dylan, they mean after he spent about a week (month?) with the kid, he never saw him again. Tracey never put in any legal paperwork or stated that she didn't want the two to spend time together. Brian could have spent any amount of his free time seeing his only son. Instead, the dog hangs out with a literal baby, sometimes while drunk, and hits on anything with a pulse and a kitty.
Fair but characters don't exactly give specifics for it, like the way they said: "Brian abandoned Dylan" makes it think it was when Brian let Dylan go
What you said about toxic relationships sounds similar to how people think of Shaggy and Velma in Mystery Inc.
That relationship was messed up, but thank goodness that relationship ended.

I think Dylan is the son of one of the rapists that raped Tracey, and she lied to Brian about him being Brian's son since Brian is the only person that walked back into Dylan's life.
Brian does fail as a father. He only showed interest in Dylan when he got a TV show.

When I was 10, I wrote a short story about a girl who gets a diary that has a spell where when she writes something in it, it comes to life. I felt so smart brainstorming and writing down what should happen. My teacher even allowed me to read a little bit of it for the class one day. I thought I was very clever for coming up with an idea like that. A year later, The Barbie Diaries came out and that movie has the same plot. It made me super pissed because my story wasn't unique anymore.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you pursue legal action. It’s so evil for Barbie to just steal from a child like that. Also, I still think your story is unique because you came up with it without outside influence.

Hey Kitty, love your stuff. About that thing. SCP-5002 from the SCP wiki /SCP fandom is about an author that writes fiction crime novels, and once she reads them, they come true. One of the stories is she writes a murder mystery about her own death and it plays out. Figure give you something else to chew on maybe have a little fun with like I do whenever you pop up with one of your essays. I usually listen to them on long drives along with Johnny two cellos.

I honestly don’t care about Dylan, he only appeared in like 2 episodes and yet fans think that an ancillary character like Dylan deserves better. To those who think that Brian is a bad father, Dylan’s mom wasn’t any better as she didn’t tell Brian about his son as she really let herself go to the point that the both of them are poor.
Can't blame her, I mean it's not easy being a single mother and Brian just banged her and left. Not defending either one of them, they both remind me of my parents tbh.

It's honestly just strange that Brian and Dylan parted on good terms, but the show retroactively acts like Brian ditched him. Family Guy doesn't have golden continuity or anything, never has, but still.

Okay. One, Brian was actually being a good father in the latter half of the first Dylan episode, albeit a tad helicoptery. Dylan moved back with his trainwreck of a mom to help her out.
Then Quagmire had his sudden paradigm shift and called out multiple things Brian has done which some definitely did not add up like the Dylan bit. But because the writers love Quagmire and hate Brian, they made his dubious rantings into dogmatic canon. It became quite apparent that the show fell off in quality.
Two, I'm still not convinced Dylan is Brian's biological son. He appears 100% human and he's older than Brian.

Family Guy writers are so bad at researching for the jokes they make that the jokes they make about THEIR OWN SHOW are also badly researched and get stuff wrong.
I genuinely have no idea how people find the show funny when most of the time they spew misinformation for every single gag they do because they rapid fire it and put no further thought into it.

What does Seth McFarlane think about the fact that his self insert character is the most widely disliked character on a show full of widely disliked characters lol.
The world basically looked him in the face and said "opinions are mixed on your show, but we all agree we dislike you as a person."

You know he also lives with Meg and Chris who are teens themselves and he’s been to their high school several times and he knows their peers. Plus he was also a sub teacher in the episode Fast Times At Buddy Cianci Jr. High, so he should know how teens talk and interact.
Brian doesn't even act like Dylan exist. That's one of the many things that makes Brian such and insufferable character.

A few years ago i wrote a comment on the Family Guy page on how can they prove Dylan is his son for a couple reasons and not cause of the dog years thing. One is Tracy could have been lying to Brian and Dylan is not actually Brian's biological son since she looks like the person who'd lie to him from her appearance and personality, also they didn't even do a go to a doctor to get blood test to also prove if they have the same blood and DNA. So for all we know Tracy is just a big liar. Also I wanted to say Brian wasn't a bad father at least in season six since he tried hard to be a responsible father after he and Dylan had a heart to heart moment after smoking drugs. It was the newer writers from season 7-present that destroyed Brian and turned him into a self-righteous hypocrite and the newer writers from seasons 7-present forced his character to be a bad father. Also Peter is kinda the blame to make Brian lose Dylan and Dylan chose to leave Brian and go back to Tracy. Also Brian could have wanted to stay with Dylan since he was going through being with what he thought was his puppies when he thought Seabreeze was pregnant with his puppies after he made love on her.

It's not annoying as they are problems elsewhere such as Brisn bring a helicopter parent in episode 1 and then using Dylan as a meal ticket in episode 2
@nicholassims9837 The fact is Tracey forced the father position onto brian to a child that isn't his. Brian is completely wrong for using Dylan, but that's not the point of my statement. I don't agree with Brian's behavior on treating dylan like that, but it's also not fair to hold brian to the standard as if he he's his biological father. Brian did do a good job at changing Dylan to be a better person, he shouldn't have taken advantage of him.

He supports her making her own decisions enough to not only have her buy a ticket (her decision and her view) but to go there with her (opposing his view).
