    So much of it is mental. You helped me tremendously the first couple of years that I was going through cold turkey withdrawal from Xanax, but I too had to get it all out of my life. Quit watching your videos and got out of all the groups and I quit googling and searching for answers. I now take nothing for anxiety and am dealing with it better than I ever have in my life. Keep the hope. If you are watching this, you will get better. Much love, Blake

      Same man, I was so deep in the groups and other people that were sick. Eventually I had to just leave it all because it's so draining mentally. I don't even think about it anymore.

      Same. I knew my brain was healing when I stopped searching every week for a new clip from him (btwn mo15 - mo18 was when I stopped looking for new sixslow clips). Took a little over two years to get over everything-brain fog & aphasia was the most lingering symptoms in my case. I appreciated his clips so much. It felt good to know you are not only one going through protracted wd. Not sure I’d be here now if I hadn’t found someone to relate to on that front.

    You've been such a huge help for me during my benzo wd, thank you for everything!!! I am 3.5 years off now and 100 % healed but just like you, whenever I read or hear something about wd, anxiety, DP/DR, anhedonia and obsessive thoughts pop up... But it never lasts long and I know now there is an end to it! Congrats on being a dad again and may you live the happy life you deserve!

    I've been off since July 2018. What a long and nasty withdrawal process it's been. I watched your videos while going through my withdrawals back then. You made me feel better about the situation. I agree that there are lingering symptoms such as PTSD from the whole experience. The trauma from all of the sickness and stress of it has made it difficult to get out of the "sick mode" mindset. It's been tough getting things back into order because of how much of a toll the whole experience took on me. But we stuck through it! We got this

  • @shoelace4043
    @shoelace4043 3 роки тому +5

    Hey Sixslow, I want you to know that by making your videos you convinced me to stay away from Benzos. I took Klonapin for 15 years and had been off since April 2020. Though I couldn't hold out and took 1mg 8 days ago. It's actually caused a surprising amount of internal disturbance. I'm back on track now. If I hadn't watched your videos, it might have been more. You articulated how impactful relapses can be and that helped keep me away. I needed to know that.

    It's good to hear that your life is back together now. Like you, I used to drink quite a bit prior to this. I never knew what to do about the depression and hangovers that would come afterwards. We kinda took care of that problem inadvertently. Think about how much better off our bodies will be. Glad we are on the path to being with our families and those we care about. We'd probably go through benzo withdrawal again for them though we can take comfort in the fact that that we've done it for them.

    • @sixslow
      @sixslow  3 роки тому +3

      Hey man that's awesome to hear I'm glad you didn't end up going down that path. It's a hard road back to normal once you start taking them again. Ya if I didn't stop drinking I don't think I'd be as happy as I am in life now. Drinking is horrible and takes so much away from life.

Been a long ride. I was short term on Ativan. Only 2.5 months 2mg/day as need under doctors orders. Still have my anger for doctors and always will. But all and all life is much better. That first year was hell. Everyone in the early stages of the hell, please keep your head up. It does go away. You will heal.

    I took Valium on and off just maybe 1-3 times per month for the past two years. Three days ago I woke up and felt disconnected from reality. And has absolutely no emotions. Then had a wave of panic attacks for 8 straight hours. Sleep 4-6 hours tops since my last dose, two weeks ago. The disconnected feeling is subsiding slowly but my muscles are twitching. I thought I was going crazy. Then I put two and two together. This is surely a way lesser form of withdrawal than most people experience but just goes to show how insidious and addicting these poisons are. Thank you for sharing your story, I can’t even imagine the pain you have gone through, you are so strong.

    Hey ur a legend in my eyes. I understand that u wouldn’t like to speak about a lot now that ur healthy cause of ptsd etc , but i think ur a legend u should be the head of the benzo people cause ur the best case i’ve seen. If u don’t like to talk about it a lot thats fine u should have a podcast about whatever other subject u want and love and keep the benzo subject minimally and talk about it on the side. I’m 4 years taking xanax now giving up to just take it for life but ur videos gave me the energy that i want to stop and i’ll stop soon. Thank you

I am now 21 months off a short term Xanax script. I only took this crap for 2 months and I still have major sleep issues. Major head pressure, and muscle/nerve symptoms. Some are finally starting to fade. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for documenting your journey. I hope I can make it to the other side as well.

    Hi! It was great to see your video after all this time. Thanks for the update! You look SO much healthier! I read some of your comments from older videos. Did you have urinary issues in your withdrawal? I have horrible bladder symptoms for the last 21 months. Never had before withdrawal ever! Had all the diagnostics, seen all the specialist. Only diagnosis they could come up with was Hypertonic pelvic floor. But after going through this so long I'm 99 percent sure its withdrawal. If you could take time to let me know that would be so appreciated. Have you heard of this issue with other people? Grateful for your videos ❤

    Off and on benzos, and percs for year and half, (sometimes mixing with alcohol) after being clean and going through withdrawals from Xanax for 4 months I got complacent and bored (was finally feeling decent and normal, got valiums thinking it wasn't as strong as Xanax. Boy was I wrong, the withdrawal has been horrible, I'm currently at 3 months sober, I had to get glasses, I'm always out of it, and bad vision issues, can't eat gluten. I figured I finally broke my brain, but watching your videos of the process gives me hope that I can finally get to somewhat normal. I related soo hard to saying "constantly waking up thinking about it and not what you have to get done in they day. Then there can be a Autoimmune Factor (mold, Lyme, parasites)
      This just remove sugar slowly, and then slowly remove Gluten.

    Hey just out of curiosity, how long have you been taking benzos daily and at what dose before you started quitting? Was is full blown cold turkey or slow taper? Happy you're feeling good now bro.

    Hey bro.. like you I was led to these drugs after suffering symptoms of anxiety after taking prolonged antibiotics for acne (which was minor and I was just a self conscious bellend). Did you have to do anything specific with your gut to promote healing? Cheers bro

      Gut is really hard to treat cause it's specific to each person. I'd find a good naturopath and work with them. It usually involves killing bad bacteria/fungi and then restoring good bacteria with stuff like saurkraut/kefir/probiotics etc..Also cutting out things like gluten/dairy.

      @@sixslow ye I get that man. I don’t actually suffer from direct gut issues but believe the antibiotic use may be part cause for the cognitive and mental symptoms I battle.
      I’ve eaten healthily in a conventional manor for the duration of my withdrawal. So my diet does include small amounts of gluten and dairy. I like milk lol. I’m skeptical of naturopaths or any so called health professionals for that matter. I just don’t believe most human beings.. specialist or not, know what the fuck they’re on about most of the time. Its probably ignorance on my part but also a symptom of suffering unnecessarily because of other people’s negligent guidance.
      Can I ask. While suffering.. Did you feel like a walking mannequin .. present in body but not in mind? Like with every activity, no matter how menial, such as talking, thinking, writing, driving the brain just can’t keep up? Like I never feel switched on or on the ball?.
      And did these things resolve in waves?
      Thanks for replying bro.. and I’m glad you’re doing better.

      Great to hear that something came from all of this. It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life but I made it, and you can too. I never thought I'd get better, I thought I was different. But here I am, healed and back to normal.

    I need you to help me, I have been free of Klonopin for 11 months after taking it for 3 and a half years, my last dose was 2 mg, I reduced in only 5 days. It is very difficult for me to leave my house due to agoraphobia and paranoia, I think that all the people are looking at me, sometimes I get distracted by playing a soccer game on the computer but I play little because it gives me more anxiety and my hands shake. ¿Can paranoia take that long to wear off? Sometimes I lose hope and think I'm going to be paranoid for the rest of my life.
