You are 100-percent correct...my 2016 Blackfoot has full ball-bearings, a SPORT TUNED motor, and is otherwise stock. I ran the truck about 12 times, and I already have the nerve-tingling crunching sound coming from the transmission differential. It sounds like 1986 all over again!!! I just ordered the MIP ball diff, and I cannot wait to eliminate this ongoing problem that has been passed down to the re-release.
You know, I rebuilt the diff in my project mudblaster before the MIP diff came out. Over the course of 3 runs and maybe 5 batteries with a upgraded stock motor, the diff completely blew out. Seriously that diff is trash.
Well good to see MIP solved Tamiya's 30+ years of frustrating orv diff issues, it's the number 1 reason that my large Tamiya collection doesn't have an orv chassis vehicle in it. Cool now I need a Frog & Monster Beetle lol Two MIP super ball diff's will be my first order, Cheers & thanks!
Glad to see how well this diff works! I had just completed Oldfrogshot 's screw mod around the time news of the MIP diff pre-order was breaking so I didn't think it would be necessary. I just snapped the center screw on the modified diff after a weekend of jumping the Beetle and have placed an order for the MIP diff. Thanks for all the testing and great videos, AMPRO!
Yeah it seems that a lot of things "help" the diff but you still fundamentally have that awful diff still. This has been a complete breath of fresh air on this car. I hope you like it!
Cool. Glad the diff works. Sorry to see your runner-body broken. Well, I believe it was the Holy Mud Blaster Spirit taking control over that other car and rampaging the body, hoping it will get a new ;-)
Wow! Very cool. I've always wondered what the Blackfoot would look like running the way its supposed to. I've got my late '80s Blackfoot sitting in a box somewhere in pieces. Would just never work. Since hearing about the diff, I've been thinking about getting it back together.
I think you should. I have NEVER run my blackfoot's (blackfeet?) hard before. They just cannot hold up. Now it is all different. Now, they are real cars.
Lol yeah...well that is also the reason I never take out my good bodies. In truth, that body is a disaster anyways so I was more bummed that I couldn't run anymore that day.
I got my original Monster Beetle back in 1987. shortly after I upgraded the transmission with a ball differential and dog bones. so they must have brought back in to production. I'll have to get one for my rerelease Beatle.
Yeah I worked with MIP to get them to build a ball diff. These modern ones are sensational. I also had the Thorp diff and it just was not up to the task of modern batteries and modern motors.
Did you ever do anything for that king Blackfoot RC truck yet please let me know I have 3 super blackfoots to old your ones and one of the new gens I would like to do something with the front ends on them too so I can run them I don't like sloppy Front ends thank you please comment back

Thanks for all of the videos following the MIP ball diff! I got started in RC a few months ago with a re-release Brat and was very excited to see this new diff come out for such an older car. I was part of the MIP pre-order and purchased all of the parts you've noted in your videos to get my Brat running with the new diff but am I going to see a reduction in the top speed of the Brat by running the 16 tooth pinion? I've been using a 15T brushed motor with the 19 tooth pinion in the stock gearbox without issue. I'm eager to try the new ball diff but I feel like I'm going to be sacrificing top speed for gearbox longevity (not that it is a bad thing).
I am glad you are back in the hobby! I have had my Brat since the 90's and it has always been one of my favorites. As for speed, yes, you will lose some with the smaller pinion but I think you can run a higher tooth one if you get the CRP adjustable motor mount. Honestly, with a 15 turn motor, you wont notice it. I will be very quick with that and the diff will last a lifetime!
That is too funny :) I bet we will see an increase in the number of bodies and other parts sold for these cars now that they can actually be run like crazy! :)
See I have not problem if it was my fault but clearly I was rear-ended! Jeez! Yes my gears were fine after 2 battery packs though...Glad you are liking the diff!
Suppose you got to use a lexan body for bashing instead, there are some pretty decent looking lexan bodies that can handle the bashing easily. Would be about 1 cm short on the wheelbase for traxxas stampede bodies but if you do the placement on the bodymounts correct i doubt you'll notice. 247mm wheelbase on the blackfoot vs 258mm wheelbase on traxxas stampede.
@@AMPROEngineering I remember back in the '80s I had the original when I first came out and back then MIP did a CVDs not the differentials and I remember putting those on with the Muria Big Bear tires.🤣😂🤣 It was a blast back in the days then came the clod buster King of the Hill 💪🏻
its funny to see all these modern rcs, and then the blackfoot. all the moderns are failing on jumps, or even driving straight while the blackfoot is planted!
i need two body posts and the part that holds the switch. everyone is making me buy a bunch of parts i dont need with them, at this rate im basically buying a second chassis... can anyone help me out?
I know how it felt some body crashed in to my slash and the rear gear box split open and gears went flying everywhere and the guy who crashed in to my traxxas slash was gone in seconds, so I ended up buying new gear box from eBay.
Well technically it broke many, many years ago but the braces I made for it were not not enough for that roll. I painted a lexan shell last night so that will be the end of top heave project Mud Blaster.
Lol yea some of the bodie can only take so muck knocks through the years, Just a quick question can the Black Foot go through water ok & wont do any damage?
Well, mechanically the truck should be fine but salt water will kill it due to corrosion. The transmission will fill with water but it should drain. The main issue is electronics. They would all need to be waterproof. As of now, I own nothing close to waterproof. I hope that info helps!
Yea thanks for the info! yea i wont go near salt water probably just small puddles & dirt it should be fine, i wouldint mind a waterproof truck so i dont have to worrie about it to much

Exactly. I went from one Monster Beetle that I could not drive and a Brat with an epoxied diff to the complete set with all MIP diffs. Finally.
Ouch, I feel your pain ! Glad the diff worked out well even if the body didn't.
Yeah... in the body had already been split there and I hoped all kydex braces would have held it together. Oh well, at least the diff rocked!
I have this sudden urge to play RC PRO AM, Damn you Alberto
My wife said the same thing when she saw this.
Great car, great video and great music! I think that is the best Blue Pinto tune you've used so far. :)
Yeah I love that song. Thank you!

AMPRO Engineering Blackfeet, Yeah that must be plural for Blackfoot ha ha :-)
Haha I think so
great vid man. sorry you got rear ended i am always hesitant to take out my retro RC's for reasons like that
Lol yeah...well that is also the reason I never take out my good bodies. In truth, that body is a disaster anyways so I was more bummed that I couldn't run anymore that day.
So dang top heavy! The MB handled sooo much better but cool upgrades
Oh yeah, that shell with the metal reinforcements and then the gopro mounted to it...uhg. Now it has a lexan shell. Much better.

That sure was a ballsy move to actually have the Monster Beetle that close to the track!!! could have been damaged by a flying car
You know I was actually worried about that....
The black food was the only one doing the course, everybody else was crashing way to go Tamiya
Haha, yeah it was going pretty well.

wish I had a track like that here! also grats on 100 likes for this video now :D

Yeah, its like watching formula one and then someone with a bicycle wanders onto the track...
All of which were on their roofs haha, the blackfoot was the only car on it's wheels :D
i need two body posts and the part that holds the switch. everyone is making me buy a bunch of parts i dont need with them, at this rate im basically buying a second chassis... can anyone help me out?
I would ask on the Blackfoot FB groups. Unfortunately Tamiya sells everything on the runner.
Nice 车场很赞

Nice black foot y find the black foot for me because my blackfoot no function .
Thank you, I really like the BF too.
Dang dude. The dude that hit you looked like he tried to.
Yeah...that wasnt cool.
