That may be true but they are PROUD of being Malays. They still regard themselves as Malays. And so should we the Malays of Nusantara. Because in the end of the day, that is what matters - how they see and regard themselves. And they see and regard themselves as Malays.

Malaysia was under the british. Present day Indonesia was under the dutch.. so most of the descendants of Cape Malays are linked from present day Indonesia (many political disidents were exiled to south africa from Maluccas, Java, South sulawesi, sumatra, etc) because south afrika was under dutch rule back then
@@patriot4786 Yes thats right, there are descendants of Malay race, but it is not Indonesian origins. Malay is a race and not belong to any country, neither Malaysia nor Indonesia. Same some claims that Madagascar or Malagasy people of Madagascar origin from Indonesians, as no such thing.
@@hafizhassanovic1899 he's not saying Cape Malays are Indonesian. Because Indonesian is a nationality, while cape Malay's nationality is South African. He's just saying that Cape Malays came from what is now Indonesia (Java, Sumatra, etc)
Where to Meet the Cape Malays The Circle of Karamats around Cape Town is made up of tombs of twenty five saints from the Muslim community. One important exile is Tuan Guru from Tidore. He spent thirteen years on Robben Island and copied the Koran from memory in a very accurate reproduction and also helped Establish the first Mosque. If you are in Cape Town you should make time to visit Bo-Kaap, which is the Malay quarter. A tour by a local resident is well worth it. You should also sample a Cape Malay curry which you can get all over South Africa and represents the exotic origins of this unique culture. The curry is rich in spices and fruits, particularly dried apricots.
