My goodness folks chill! Wheezy is in a no-pressure training! I have full faith that Katie knows and is very knowledgeable and educated in what she does so well! I started my 2 1/2 year old off with this same light training and here we are 20 years later and my girl is still conformationally sound, health, and rides like a dream! ❤️
Just because you have one anecdotal experience with a horse being started at 2, doesn’t mean that it’s good for horses, especially a larger horse with thoroughbred blood. While a lot of people in the western world start at two (with smaller, compact quarter horses) most in the English world that have larger horses (TBs and warmbloods) start them at three because it’s scientifically proven to be better for those types of horses. We all love horses and would like to see the best for them so while Katie is knowledgeable on smaller quarter horses, she might need some education if she is working with the lighter framed larger breeds for their health and safety. Larger horses stop growing much later than smaller breeds and take longer for bones to fuse.
@oldageisdumb I'm curious about your statement that thoroughbreds need to be started under saddle later. Everything I'm reading says they actually tend to mature slightly faster than quarter horses. Also, I've been trying to educate myself and from what I can find a veterinary guided plan is the best for deciding when horses are truly ready to start under saddle, not just arbitrary ages.
@@oldageisdumbthere is a lot of English ridden warmbloods started att 2.5 years old, that is the standard where I live in Europe and they go on to have long carrers... you usually start them slow with lots of groundwork about 2-3 days a week wit the goal to ride them in all gaits somewhat controlled and in balance.

Still not okay. This is why I got out of AQHA. Two-year-olds are not physically or mentally mature enough to ride. The Quarter Horse industry needs to change. People like Katie, who clearly love their horses, could be the voice of change.
@@DedeCompton At her age she shouldn’t have weight on her back yet never mind being ridden on a fairly small circle! The platelets in her bones have not closed yet, she’s still growing so to put so much weight and work on joints and bones that are still developing is a recipe for disaster!!
