One thing I started to do was, people who last caught a pokemon "2+ days ago", I would write down their XP as their nickname, and periodically check and see if that number had changed

Reminds me of parents or spouses who check the odometer to see if someone was sneaking out and driving somewhere lmao

What’s the point of more friends if there’s a cap how many gifts you can open and how many gifts you can send
To throttle XP and item gains.
Facts
I send about 85 gifts a day with 300-ish friends..they don't all play everyday and some don't open gifts everyday..you could have 500 friends and maybe at best..half would open gifts(thank god)

Yes the egg pass was great where you could open. Double
The total was actually 400 before this. They just increased it by 50 to 450. Which is honestly so wack. We couldn’t even get a full 100 increase. Why even limit it so much? Should just let us have 1000. How is it affecting them if we have more friends lmao

I agree with everything you said. Niantic’s constant changing without really considering their players is one of the reasons I stopped playing. Once they limited the remote raids & upped $$ for items I just had it!!! I used to grind every day for almost 2 years before and had numerous player groups I’d made friends with both local and from around the country and around the world!! Which is one of the cool things about the game I think! I wish they’d get a clue! I’d love to come back to the game! I miss playing 😞
Same here they need to antiup on the held items and Pokemon I am back to deleting my Pokemon to make room for other pokemon to catch and trash

I been saying for past 3 years to bring in a lucky remote pass to do distance trades like we do remote raids
They should make trades possible during raid countdowns in the lobby and make it no matter the distance
All more gifts would mean is more 7k eggs
Bro if you just have 9 eggs in your regular egg box you won’t get 7k eggs just open up your gift when you have full eggs. The eggs form your gifts don’t go to your bonus slots. On top of that I personally like hatching eggs so does a sizable amount of the community. And besides all that you know can ever get one egg from any one gift plus two more items. So even if you don’t have full eggs the max you can get is 9 and that’s from every other gift. Also gifts are the best way to get ultra balls and pineapp berries. Plus revives
In my opinion, they can nerf how much gifts give so long as they increase the amount we can open and send. For me it’s about balancing interactions for friend leveling that I care about the most.
In that same vain, his point might still apply in this case where they increase the amount of players you can gift and receive from, but nerf the amount of friendship level xp you get. But eh this is all just speculation based on past moves niantic has made

When gifts first came out, the generated items used to be plenty. Almost ten per gift. Then people complained that it filled their item space too fast (back in 2017) and then they nerfed it
for those of you who don't care about gift exchange and friendlists, I was also just like you at one point. but eventually as you level up, some of you may reach level 48 and level 49 will never happen unless you have 50 lucky pokemon completed during level 48. other than mass trading for those 50 lucky pokemon (with best friends) during community days, you will never get this requirement done without doing friendlists and gift exchange.
I’d love to see Tags added to friends. It would resolve a few issues I have and it seems like it’d be easy for Niantic to implement.

All 300 friends I have don't even raid anymore and it's only 10 ever that's online so this was pointless

The last day interacted and last day online would be so beneficial for managing friends. In addition it would be great to know how times I have raided with a particular trainer so I have a better idea which trainers to send raid invites too.
I imagine if they could have implemented worldwide lucky trades they would have. I’m guessing it’s a TPC restriction.
They are going to have more events to send and open gifts.. it would have been nice to have 100 friends added though.
Plus if they increased how many gifts you could send/open I wish there were an auto way to do it. Manually sending and opening 20 gifts is already annoying.

During egg hatch events, Im not opening gifts unless my egg list is full anyway. 7km eggs don't hold Larvesta, sorry friends.
One thing i would like is to turn off where you get eggs. You can turn eggs from gift and only get eggs from stops, or only get eggs form leaders

Yeah that's y i don't play as much bc my wrist hurts alot so it's torture to open all them. They need to make it so it automatically opens all them be alot easier.
I nickname my friends by date so I know when they last interacted with me. I'd love to see us be able to hold more for sure.
What does "Speed run the game" mean? I manually put the dates of my last interaction with my friends in the nickname section which is a huge pain in the a$$, especially because if I rename too many at once, it forces me to stop for a cool down period, so I have to stop and come back later. I would LOVE if they gave us that information. I also totally agree that it would be helpful to know if they haven't even been playing. I think the people at Niantic need rehab... they screw up way too much to not be on something.BTW, I love you, you are one of my favorites!

Lol my method for ppl on my friends list is if u are not active, or opened a gift in a long time, and your STILL walking the SAME pokemon as your buddy then ya gotta go. I try n keep my list to about 200 which I think was the original limit
I have lucky friends I can find too but it’ll be borderline stacking to get in touch with them. I know when certain players may take a gym bc they’re probably getting off work at a certain time. I could sit at the gym everyday waiting but it seems weird or is it just me.
They need to raise the lucky rate and chance of lucky friends permanently. Also long distance trading with a set message option like pokemon names/shinies that you want for trades.
Until trading can be done long distance the friends system apart from farming xp is a bust. Global trading for best friends only would be motivating

Well since the update now spoofers get a failed to detect location error 12 meaning long distance trading has been nerfed to hell now so it’s not a great update for lucky friends 😢
They should give us more coins daily because of inflation when one of our Pokemon gets kicked out of the gyms!

you should be able to remote trade if lucky. they could actually make a great game instead they keep it mid.
I dont think they would have a remote trading system permanently .but they should make a event, like during a community day or something. Or a event in itself. Maybe that you need to do quest to be able to trade with friends remotely during that specific time.

What annoys me is people who suddenly stop with 1 day to go on ultra and best friends or delay for weeks months
Some of them may be stacking friendship level up XP so they can open gifts at a certain time such as community day with a lucky egg.

Yes absolutely over half my lucky friends are not within 1,000 miles. Niantic is run by seriously stupid people, if I and some associates of mine ran Niantic, pokemon go would be so much more popular and fun for players, and it would be gaining business instead losing. 😂
Nobody needs 450 "friends" as it is! Sending, opening, and holding gifts is too low for the 300 friends!

Imagine being able to send more gifts per day. You'd have to visit more different Pokestops per day to reach that. Encouraging more walking? No way!
At this point it wouldn't surprise me if Niantic added a Friendship upgrade pack and a gift upgrade pack in the shop like the pokemon/item storage to increase friend limit and gift limits, honestly I would pay 100 coins for an extra 20 friends or maybe 5 extra gift openings, maybe a global trade pack, pay 500-1000 coins for 1 global trade a day
I don't mind if they actually nerf the items we get from gifts as long as they increase the amount of gifts we can send by a big amount, I would rather level up my friends faster for the Exp
Spot on. So useless that "+2 days" remark in your list. Therefor when opening and sending gifts I sort on being online.
For how long some played they day after a cd or raid i will give the friend a name like gloom if they have played and if i see online sent/open a gift I remove the nickname after the 3o and the next "big" event I clear out and re add.
I'm surprised they didn't monetize it like increasing item and pokemon storage.

Speed run the game suggests there is an end which we all know is a a load or tauros shit.
Great point and great feedback. There is definitely bottle necks and stress points that need to be addressed before just adding “more” friends.
Amount of gifts; holding, sending, mass opening, mass sending… all things that could should be added FOR SURE 😊
OR be able to send an option of specific gift packages out. Like poke ball package, option package, or even a few incense packages a day
